  2. congrats on your good round..
  3. I play a small course, ( 5500 yds ) and play the red/senior tees..I see the same thing..they can hit it harder, but its usually 200yds right or left...I would rather have it 180 yds straight, than 300 yds in trees or a pond..
  4. nah, we are pretty even...I even have a 5400 yd course we can play...
  5. Jon... Come to Dallas, we will go play a round or two....
  6. Hey Jon, I gave it up for most of last year..a week or two ago I went to the range and did okay, I got a great deal on a set of XR irons, so I got them..and went to try them out...when I could keep my speed slow and my tempo in time I did reasonably well, the shots stayed nice and straight, and the impact felt good...the larger clubs still present a challenge..still try and swing from the top with big clubs....just not enuff swing in my hips and body.. and no, I probably still a have a temper that kills my game if I hit a few bad shots in a row...
  7. Jon, I have played a 5400 yard course for the last 5 years, My short game is better than average...Like yourself, I still play it poorly, all due to the long swings..I have played it in the mid 90's sometimes... and the high 90's moreso...as you mentioned, its a consistant repeatable swing that is needed for a consistant game...when its not there, the game sucks...when its there, I play good...playing a short course hasnt fixed anything for me...I hit the same lousy shots regardless...
  8. How true, the writing on the wall got bigger and bigger each time I played last year...unfortunately I dont have short term memory nor tolerance for that kind of game...I made the best decision for me and Golf....and I still love the game..as long as I am watching it and not playing it.
  9. I bought the LSW today...
  10. that just amplifies how bad of a loser I am at golf...in 10+ years I have not improved at all...some people have it, and some of us wont ever get it..
  11. a lil compliment on being a good player..was just casting a lighthearted view on the previous post..didnt mean to offend you..my apology..have a good weekend..
  12. must be real easy..you have a 10 index...
  13. @scopek Your in Michigan, get together sometime with @jonma , he is up there somewhere..
  14. Thanks Lihu..I dont hate it, I just dont have fun playing ...so the interest isnt there any longer...I am still a golf fan..just not a player..
  15. Jon, Been there , done that also..have broken my share of clubs against inanimate objects..thats another reason I gave it up... Lihu, Not all of us find it fun...if I did, I'd still be playing...I am happy for those of you that play well enough to enjoy it..
  16. Your totally Correct, Jon..It all comes down to a person having the Temperment to enjoy playing lousy golf..after spending the money on nearly 2years of lessons off and on, and giving the game more hours than I can count, and getting nowhere, I walked away from it...My Hats off to you for being able to go out and just play, and take it all in stride...unfortunately for me, Frustration and temper wins that battle...
  17. My Short game was good...The longer clubs swing was the issue...and I did play a shorter course and shorter tees...but I have been out of it for over a year, so its not an issue... But thanks for the interest..
  18. I played Basketball reasonably good as a younger adult...I play a lil at Guitar as a hobby, something to do with the few hrs each week I used to spend trying to play Golf...:)..
  19. I seriously doubt it...2 pro's, and 18 months with a Lead Golf Instructor at GolfTec failed to do anything for me...you cant teach ability..its that simple..there is a reason some of us are +30 index's and never get better..
  20. Then I can hit a basket full of Crap shots...which I did many times..and then walk away just as frustrated if not more so..the required proper Striking of the ball isnt obviously in my swing technique...
  21. KW, I made the same decision last year..no regrets whatsoever...my attitude towards all things is far better..I took lessons also for 18 months, and practiced most days...in the end, I just accepted that some people like myself, have no ability to swing a club..and never will...as well, some of us dont have the temperment for playing lousy golf and enjoying it...there are always plenty of other things to take up ones time..
  22. I agree with you, krupa, on the walk off...I have walked off of rounds when I have been by myself as well..when its all going wrong, your pissed and frustrated, why bother..go do something else... Optishot Makes an affordable similator, if you have the room, and a spare PC/Laptop..for 399.00..it tends to be light sensitive and has a swing flaw once or twice a round, but its close to being correct 85-90% of the time..you can display the screen on an ext monitor or a tv..you can either hit real balls, plastic balls, or no balls with it..
  23. Agree whole heartedly.....I can practice until I turn blue..No talent, no swing..will never get any better..so why bother..
  24. I would work on fixing one item at a time..get consistant with that part of the game..for me, the short game was the easiest to get good at...and made the largest improvement..Once I fixed the small swing and methods, and could be near the hole with one chip or small pitch, all I had left to do was work on the long clubs...as Iacas said a while back in the blog post..you can cut your swing down to a slow controlled swing and keep the ball in front of you..it may not go as far, but it be more playable and get you on in 3, and a 2 put for a 1-over on most holes..I play that way because of hand surgery issues, and I play a 90-94 consistantly..2 longer shots, a pitch/chip, 2 putts..
  25. Played the usual small course I play, now that the weather is nice..straightened my swing over winter...played both sides at +10..for a +20...not a bad outing for the 2nd time since last october...Chipping and putting isnt quite back where it should be yet..need a few more rounds to get my short game back to normal...I had no bad holes, really..just left some chips long and some putts short..that gets fixed with playing time..
