i play with bridgestone b330 and i love them. straight off the tee with great distance and spins great on the greens. I get my balls from lostgolfballs.com, i buy the AAA ones and they work great.

try to slow your right foot from coming up too quickly. For my swing, i keep my two feet planted in order to generate more power from the lower body. I do lift my right foot but thats after impact. back when i first started playing i would lift my right foot up fast and it would seem as if i was only on my left foot. keeping your right foot quite will also allow you to keep your head still. I wonder also, how tall are you? the reason i ask is cause i see you taking your back swing way too far and generating very little accuracy and power also resulting to little grip control. thats just my opinion.

i agree with madcityscott on Lightening my grip and releasing the club. Those two help me the most.

KURLAN, how long have you been playing? congrats on breaking 100. In april, I broke 100 for a the whole month and then came MAY and i'm back to low 100's due to THE SHANK. i'm hoping to break 100 in my next round. Anyways, keep up the good work KURLAN.

i caught the shank also. i've been hitting shanks on my irons for the last 5 rounds i've played. my drivers and woods are awesome but my irons are a disaster. i went to the range yesterday and hit a few balls and thought about what i did right back when i was hitting more consistent. tried a few things and then out of 100 balls i hit, i only hit 3 shanks and a few fades but the fades sounded good. I think it was all in my head.

is this calculator really accurate? just wondering cause it seems i'm an 18.5 handicap. Is 18.5 okay for someone that has only been playing for 6 months?
-
i thought that i already posted the name?

i did not know it was fake when i bought it. When i recieved it, i even took my clubs to one of a pro shops and compared it. the fake clubs had that marking on the 8 iron and so did the real ones. the only thing that i saw different was that the fake did not have any barcode on the shaft. here are pictures of my clubs when i first got them.

1.) 2009 goal is to average in the 80's. 2.) 3 birdies in one round 3.) no more shanks or topped balls. 4.) build confidence in putting. 5.) increase iron distances.
-
thanks... i'll contact callaway and report it.
-
would i get in trouble for owning counterfeits?
-
haha...i purchased from username alisha_ace i believe. I found out they were fakes when i took my 5 irons and swung 5 time off an 1 inch rubber tee and the head just flew out into the driving range. i tried emailing and stuff but i didn't get no response. so i got my buddy to just re-shaft all my clubs for me with some dynamic gold steel shafts. I am hitting consistently good with the clubs and the feel of contact with the head feels good. my scores on average went from 114 down to mid 90's. But i can't imagine how much better it would feel with the real ones. haha... I've tried my brothers (real) taylormade r9's and also my uncles nike sling shots and i get the same distances, sounds and feel from impact. I'm just pissed that i could of got some real ones with a little extra cash. oh well, i guess that's learning it the hard way.
-
Its true that they are junk clubs but I can't do much now since i already have them hahaha... I totally learned my lesson and from now on i will only buy them from the pro shops.
-
they are china made x-22. looks dead on identical to the real deal.
-
wow... thats kool. I would say x-22 because i like the looks hahaha...
-
good luck... i look forward to seeing your progression in the next month.
-
Would i get disqualify if i use counterfeit irons in a tournament?
-
how long have you been playing for? and from experience, don't buy the x-22's from ebay. Or atleast try to get real ones. haha...

i prefer walking because walking gets my muscle warmed up and as the day goes i get better. Also walking gives me a sense of relaxation verse driving. I would only drive if it is late in the day and i want to finish all my holes before dark.

I started playing golf in Nov. 08. its about 6 and a half month now. I live in Sacramento, CA. this past friday i played at bartley cavanaugh for the third time. This was my first time playing off of gold (rating: 68.9 slop:122). i scored a 99. the only hole that i felt i did bad was the 13th hole which i made 10 strokes on . haha.. anyways, over all i felt i did good. Then this past sunday i played at Wildhawk playing from the gold as will (rating: 70.9 slop:125). i played my best game so far with a score of 92. I could of played much better but 92 is good enough. I had 2 ten foot birdie putts and ended up with boggies. on the 18th hole, i had a 5 foot birdie putt and ended up with boggy haha... it was about 8pm in the evening and the green was really slow. anyways, overall i feel my game is getting much better. my scores went from 106-114 and dropped to 92-99 in just a month. i think that slowing down was one thing that is making my game better.

i also forgot to mention that i am still working on my breathing pattern when i do a "full swing." What i have noticed at the range is that when i try to add power or do a full swing, my breathing(rhythm) is all off. I don't mean to say that i need to breath at a certain time to get a good perfect hit, but breathing wrong just shows me how tense or how much i am trying when i don't necessarily need to. I'm not make a whole lot of sense but if anyone has a similar feeling, please elaborate. anyways, that is one that i am working on, relax breathing.

1. Post what you're working on, why, what you hope to accomplish, how you're doing about it, etc. 2. Post when you begin something new, take a new approach, etc. 3. Don't reply to any posts unless your reply also accomplishes the two things listed above. I have only been playing for 6-7 months now. In the last 4 times I have played including this past sunday, i have scored a 92-97 from the furthest tees with a slope rating of 125-127. Before, i was scoring 106-114 on the white tees. What I have been working on in the past few weeks is to try not "COACH OTHERS WHILE PLAYING." I tend to do that a lot and it really affects my game. I am also working on being more patient in every shot and as i walk i sing quietly "to myself" or hum songs to keep myself relaxed. I am also working on my putting. I've recently been able to get almost every hole i'm playing on in two putts. What i am working on in my putting is the point of contact. sometimes when i am too tense i tend to push or brush the ball and it does not get anywhere close to the hole. I now realize that like any iron shots or drivers shots, I still need a solid hit(contact) in my putt whether its a soft hit or hard hit.

good luck. and have fun. one change that i've notice about my drive is that when i step up to drive, i don't rush or tighten up my grip until the slip second i am going to pull back. it gives me consistent drives all day. -

Are you able to hit fades and draws? I only hit fades and draws on accident at the moment since i am still a begginner. But its funny how mentally when i think of hitting a draw i get a straight dead on hit. Almost every swing i make, (in my head) i am thinking of a draw and it gives me a straight hit. what i have changed also with my driver hits is that i lowered my power and at impact of the ball, i TRY MY BEST TO NOT PIVOT my back toe until i have hit the ball. The change that i've made has given me a better feeling of impact because both my feet are on the ground, and by keeping my toe down i keep my head still. I'm still a beginner so there are so much more i need to improve on, but at the moment by doing these little things it has given me a consistant drive and gives me about 200-250 yard flight and probably roll a little further. I am better at my short game so 200 yard drives are good enough for me haha..
