ok so i've been doing a lot of single sided/one armed putting a chipping drills but I just cant figure out the best spot to put my arm thats not in use. I've been experimenting with it in my pocket, behind my back, across my chest resting on opposing shoulder and across my body resting on opposing hip. I was just wanting to get some input from others on where they feel the optimum spot is for the arm/hand not in use during the single sided drills. Thanks

Do golf shoes really need spikes?
zebrasinamerica replied to goodputt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
yes it is a GREAT way to get your swing back in rhythm. I spend a lot of time on the range barefoot. However when I play I make sure to have a pair of flip flops or some sort of shoe i can slip on while i walk. The last thing i want to do is step on a tee in the grass or a piece of a beer can that was hit by a mower and ripped apart or even a critter just going along with their life that i step too close too and threaten them and end up with a sting or bite. I feel it's really a great way to practice bunker play as well -
I feel I'm as unbiased as I can be in the golf world. I build clubs for a living and dont get payed to walk to course yet so I meerely play what works for me. My current set up is Titleist 910 w/RIP Alpha Callaway Razr Fit 15 w/Axivcore Mizzy MP650 19 hybrid w/RIP alpha Adams Idea MB2 w/KBS x 4-P SCOR 52 and 58 with KBS x Scratch 53 ds bent to 55 with KBS x Low Tide Custom Fin/Odyssey 2ball Backstryke/TaylorMade Monza Corza 3up 3F12 I literally spent months hitting different head and shaft combos and building clubs for people. The biggest thing to any forged club is getting the swing weight right for you, if thats not right the club will feel like a turd. I based my decison on the Adams over more Mizzies, over Miura and over Vega on feel, feedback and numbers. I was putting about 8,000 rpms on the ball with the PW from most makers out there and thats the rate i got from the Adams 8i. I play to a +1 cap and will be turning pro in GA next season and there for I am hitting into REALLY hard and fast greens. I need the ball to stop for me and the Adams gave me more of that than any other head. miura is nice as well as vega, mizzy, scratch, kzg, titleist, cobra ... the list goes on. Don't get fixated on a product before you have tested it as you may find something that works better. ZiA

Do golf shoes really need spikes?

i had the same thoughts TRD, i was instructed by a friend who is a teaching pro to go to the course with my gear and a pair of flip flops to wear between shots. in other words PLAY BAREFOOT if you're loosing your footing a lot of times it's due to a balance point being off that will get addressed by playing barefoot. I didn't believe it so I wanted to prove him wrong and boy did it go the other way from what I expected. after a few shots I was striking the ball MUCH better and my balance was spot on and I personally couldn't even tell you that I was barefoot while swinging -
Vegan Golf Shoes
zebrasinamerica replied to caniac6's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
as a vegan and and a golfer myself I understand the struggles. As far as vegans are concerend it's not just using things made from animal skin you would be shocked at how many materials have an animal derivitive. We have to look into it all, it goes as far as the types of materials used to give certain foods their texture (i.e. we dont eat starburst as they use a product similar to gelatin to give it the gummy texture that uses animal in one form or another in the process). Veganisim is a PERSONAL lifestyle choice so please dont tell this FATHER to feed his SON chicken and fries as he's not telling you to take YOUR son to a different church or put them in a different school because he doesn't agree with your personal views and values. I'm on the quest of finding as much vegan friendly golf stuff myself, I only use cloth carry bags which is a big part and my gloves i'm still running through my sciflexes from footjoy that were already purchased before I made the switch from vegitarian to vegan. I will mark this thread and as I find items I will be sure to share them here! Hope things are going well on your quest ZiA -

Yardage Book Attempt #1, what are your thoughts?
zebrasinamerica replied to zebrasinamerica's topic in Golf Talk
I'm going to be runnig a 2 page system. The first page or cover if you will I am going to have the name of the course. I'll flip it open and there will be a green with a grid and slope points and notes on "page 1" then the hole overview (like the one pictured) on the page below it. Flip that one up and it will be Green #2 on top and hole 2 over view on bottom etc... -

Hey guys/gals I've got a few clubs that I'm not using that I'm looking to give good homes 1. Is a Vokey 256.10 SM wedge (non usga conforming grooves but is pretty much new) this club has a Grey/White paintfill on the back of the club and a BRAND NEW Black/Orange GP New Decade grip on it. I'm asking $45 shipped for it. 2. Is a Cleveland CG15 60* wedge with 8* bounce on the soul in the oil soaked finish with grey paintfill and the stock cleveland grip (still in great shape with lots of tack). I'm asking $35 shipped for this one. Thanks for looking and feel free to email me at louis . taylor 59 at gmail dot com

here's the feedback I got from one of my good friends who is a certified teaching pro in FL about my swing after the posture adjustment " Swing looks good. I don’t really know what you are struggling with and what you are wanting to change? What your miss is? Or What irons you are struggling with. On your takeaway I see a minor flaw with you breaking your hands back pointing your thumbs away from you which is an unnecessary move but you recover from it nicely. Coming down on the ball you look like you are in a great position with the butt of the club pointing at the ball or inside which tells me you are coming down on the ball. If you can get a caddie view or view facing your body so I can see latterly whats going on and what your head is doing that would help me more.. Overall though you have a nice swing. A lot of your work is going to be adjusting tedious little things. I would work a lot on your mental game and putting."

got the video up and was able to watch it for the first time when I got home as my camera battery died at the range. I must say while hitting balls I felt like my head was WAY down but with the lack of computer skills I have it looks as if I were to put laser pointers on the frame of my glasses that I would still be about 5 or 6 inches away from the ball and it REALLY felt like I was looking straight down. I also checked my lower back as I have been taking some swings at home trying to get the feeling of tucking my tail bone and I am kind of thinking I just have a big but that is making it look like I'm arching my lower back lol. These adjustments felt great from my wedge all the way to my driver and I will continue to work them in and make them 100% but I feel like my first adjustment that it went well. I was more balanced through the swing. I felt more "connected" and smoother. I also felt as if I was creating more power with the chin dropping and rounding my shoulders. All in all this was an improving session for sure and the work will continue. Thanks and here's the new video, the last ball was off the heel as I got a bit close on set up LT59

Whats your Avg Drive swing speed?
zebrasinamerica replied to Coleoneps's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
It's very possible his gps is giving him misleading info. I'm not sure I know he plays pure distance balls and maybe he's mid quoting his swing speed. There are too many factors that can be off one way or another. I spend more time concentrating on my game to be real concerned about his. It's also bossiness that I'm confusing his carry with another one of the guys I play with. My apologies for causing a riff. LT59 -
Got some new footage tonight that will be uploaded soon

Whats your Avg Drive swing speed?
zebrasinamerica replied to Coleoneps's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Age 28 Height 5'9 or 10 Weight 190 AVG SS for driver 118 mph I think this is a mundane number though. Length off the tee can be had with the right combo of loft and shaft no matter what the swing speed is. I have a buddy with an AVG driver SS of 95-98ish that is still carrying 280=285 on avg off the tee. It's all about building the right club for your swing and not always worrying about the number followed by an mph unless it's ball speed. Just my 2 cents LT59 -
Also DJs posture is where I'm wanting to get to. I just don't know what adjustments to make that wont destroy my swing and game

Thanks JetFan, Posture is what I'm really trying to iron out right now. I'm about to pull up the thread you posted and give it a read, back on the range tomorrow and I'll take the camera again!!!

Set make-up/critique my bag
zebrasinamerica replied to LilGasPasser's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I LOVE my long irons so I will be kind of biased on that issue (plus I can't hit a hybrid to save my life as I have tried many), so thats your call, hit some hybrids before you buy them. As far as wedges go I would go with 52 and 58 if you're a 30ish handicapper 60's and up can be tough clubs that take a lot of time to get the hang of for some players. I personally dropped my 56 and kept just the 52 when I started playing competitively again. just my .02 Z -

Tiger's Sunglasses at Dubai
zebrasinamerica replied to BigHitta's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
They are/were NIKE sunglasses, I can't remember the model but I am positive they are NIKE a sports store that I worked at used to sell the same model and they felt like complete junk to me. The frames were very very flimsy and since the lenses are "floaters" you have to have a fairly wide head for them to look ok on your face. If I was going to suggest something for you to wear while playing as well as just wearing casually I would suggest something along the lines of the Oakley Half Jacket XLJ (the model I currently wear) or the Oakley M-Frame with the Hybrid S lense. Just my 2 cents Zebra -
Welcome, I have a newbie question for the 2 of you. I'm thinking of moving to Florida and was wondering if you could give me any ideas of cities/towns to look in to that are decent and the cost of living isn't astronomical. Zebra

my mistake, i apologize for not getting all the particulars on each disease I just meant in general they seem to be similar situations but yes, one is an amateur and the other is/was a pro and I do agree with you on that point. So again I apologize and didn't mean to offend or get under anyones skin on this subject. Zebra
