  1. I think that is for the Custom Shop headcovers. Looks like you can order the standard Studio Select one online here: http://www.scottycameron.com/webstor...essories/60890 Unless I'm misreading that or something.
  2. They only had 2 of the California series and I didn't really like them as much as the SS series. They had about 40 Studio select models on display though so plenty to choose from there....I'll get used to the ugly headcover I suppose.
  3. From a pure quality of materials/construction perspective I'm sure they are overpriced. That being said, they are incredibly nice. For me I guess they are worth it as I just today stopped into the local golf shop and picked up a Newport 2.5. I've been playing with the same Ping Pal4 putter for the last 10+ years and decided it was time to try something new. I spent a good hour or so playing around with all the different putters at the local store. Lots of nice ones out there, the Ping Redwood and Rife models really stuck out but the one that felt the best was the Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5. $300 is a lot for a putter, but as others have said, you use your putter a lot and it's probably the only club that has a good chance of still being in my bag 10 years from now so I think it's worth buying whatever putter appeals to you most and that you hit the best with. I just wish it came with something other then the ugly silver head cover! I mean really, silver? Couldn't we have a nice black one? :)
  4. Yep, happened to me yesterday. I played a quick 9 with some friends and lately I've been playing terrible. Yesterday started no different, going 7, 8, 10 for the first three holes (a few lost balls and really bad chipping are to blame here) but then it all turned around. Went par, birdie, par, bogie, double, par for the final 6 holes which is probably the best stretch of playing I've been able to link together in months. 2 over for 6 holes made me happy as could be even though my score sucked overall because of a really rocky start.
  5. I have a 58* Vokey that I love. It's great inside of 30 yards or so and I absolutely love it out of the sand. The extra loft really lets me get it up out of a deep bunker without flying the green and I've hit my best sand shots ever with it. Overall a club I'm really happy to have in my bag.
  6. I have a Ping Pal 4 I bought brand new many many years ago that never came with a head cover. I decided I wanted one a while ago and emailed Ping about getting one. They sent me one free of charge and it's awesome. Great fit, magnetic which is really cool because I just set it on the sole of one of my irons while I'm on the green and there it stays....like magic! Anyway, it's a nice headcover but I think it says a lot about Pings customer service too, those guys rock and with a small gesture like that have earned my continued business.
  7. I have a few Nickent clubs as you can see in my sig. They are the easiest to hit and most consistent clubs in my bag. Seriously I've been blown away at how good these clubs are. I recent switched from blades to my Ping G5 irons and they are pretty forgiving but nothing like my Nickent hybrids which just go far and straight almost every time I pull them out of the bag.
  8. Nice choices. I have a 58-12 Vokey and I love it. Great for anything right around the green and I've been loving it out of the sand too. Gets it up and out of the trap without flying the green.
  9. My Nickent 3 utility wood has been a great club for me lately, along with my 58* Vokey.
  10. Played the back nine of a little local course for the first time tonight (usually just go there after work for nine and always have played the front). I played terrible all night, double bogey on a lot of holes and some a couple even worse. Overall just a bad night but somehow I kept my spirits up and just had fun anyway. The 18th hole was incredibly tough though...houses not far off the left side of the fairway and a rock filled gully on the right with houses behind it. So I step up really not wanting to hit it left and so I slice it horribly to the right and hit a house. Ok, it actually hit the deck (rang the door bell after the round and went back with the home owner to make sure nothing was damaged) but still, it was bad. Dropped and hit my second shot from a terrible lie on a steep side hill and shanked it into the hazard again but hit a rock this time and had a nice bounce into the fairway. Finished the hole ok after that. Basically I just suck though...at least I have fun while I'm out there and I'm trying to get better.
  11. I picked up some G5 irons this year and I really like them so far. Nice and forgiving, easy to hit and they feel good too. I was playing some blades before (hand me downs...way above my skill level) and I'm glad I switched to these. I just got a 5-PW set but for $300 they were a heck of a deal and it allowed me to add some hybrids which I've really grown to love as well.
  12. Not all, I have way too many shots in a round to remember them all I'm afraid...but I do remember the gist of most of the holes and how they went for me. It's easier if it's a course you know really well. If it is a new course or one I don't play often then it's harder to recall it all.
  13. I say try a bunch and figure out what works for you. I originally wanted a 14 divider system and went with a Nike Sasquatch. After the first round however I realized that the way the shoulder straps connect prevented me from reaching the handle as I was taking it off my shoulder and I found it really annoying. Took it back and got a Ping Lattitude. Nice stand system but the club management was horrible and the dividers go slack when you set the back down due to the tilting bottom. Returned that one for my current Ogio Grom and it's an awesome bag. The ball silo, zipperless ball pocket, tee holders, insulated bottle pocket and the club management are just all amazing and I couldn't be happier. Took me three tries (and thankfully a very understanding golf shop) to get it right but it was worth the effort rather then settling for something I didn't like. I would avoid picking a bag by whether it matches your clubs (though I'm not sure I would carry a Callaway bag since I don't use their clubs, or a Cobra, or Cleveland, etc.).
  14. I wouldn't imagine rotating every round would do much difference unless you are playing back to back rounds. Now, rotating every few holes to give the glove a chance to dry out in that time seems like it would help and I would bet you do get better life out of a pair using them that way.
  15. A little bit. I've always been a fan of Ping. Been playing with my current putter for over a decade now and my brother and dad use Ping irons currently. So, when I went out to get new irons I always sort of wanted Ping. I tried others but got a great deal on my G5s so I went with them and am happy I did. I also like Mizuno irons and when I get better and can use a players iron I'll probably get some Mizuno MP irons.
  16. I recently picked up one of the Taylor Made/Addidas hats that are sort of "Flex-Fit-Like" but really nice and breathable. It's a solid hat but I've gone back to my old tan Titliest visor which I've always liked.
  17. I'd go Ogio. I went through a Nike Sasquatch and a Ping Lattitude before I found the Ogio Grom that i currently have. This bag is awesome...tons of great features that actually prove useful when I'm out on the course and the club management is great too.
  18. It can be tough to transition but I did it and the GI irons are much better for my swing. I've played blades for last 10 years or so (only played a few times a year though) and I thought I hit them pretty well. Sure, i had some bad shots but when I hit them well they were beautiful. When I got serious about golf again I decided to get some GI irons and went with Ping G5. Hard to get used to at first with the thicker sole and topline and especially the offset. Now that I'm used to them a little more though the goods shots are still good but the bad shots are not nearly as bad. I can tell when I'm a little off but the ball still flies pretty nice in most cases and currently I really appreciate the forgiveness they offer.
  19. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that a few days after I ordered my two clubs from TGW (the Nickent 3 utility and 3 ironwood in my sig) the already low prices dropped a little due to their Memorial Day sale. I emailed them asking if they could give me a credit for the difference and got a nice email back saying no problem and a few days later I had a $17.xx credit on my card (I know it isn't much but both clubs were only $140 so I figured it was worth asking....made them even a better deal). The story of the putter sucks though. I'm huge on customer service and that would turn me off a company real quick, but so far my experience has been great. I'll do most of my shopping locally though because my local shop is awesome.
  20. I really like my 50* Vokey. I use it out of the rough for short shots where it is too easy to come up short with the 58*. I also chip with it and hit shots in the 110-65y range with it.
  21. I picked up some of the Taylor Made TP Blacks for 2 dozen/$55 which is a pretty good deal and I really like the balls. Once those run out I'll probably give the Top Flite Gamer a try as I've heard so many good things about them.
  22. I like Ogio. I went through a Nike Sasquatch and a Ping Lattitude before I settled on the Ogio and it is far and away the best bag I've used.
  23. That sort of thing happens to me a lot. I'm nowhere near that level but I blew up on the last few holes of a round of 9 tonight. Started off great (for me) by going bogey, par, par, par, bogey. I was thrilled with that start. Then I went double bogey, bogey, quadruple bogey (lost a ball OB) and double bogey for an 11 over 47. I thought I was so on track for a good score in the low 40's but it was not to be unfortunately. I did only loose one ball tonight which is a big improvement for me because I often have some terrible drives. So basically, it happens and it sucks. It's such a mental game and my head just isn't ready to play well yet evidently.
  24. That sucks. I purchased a couple clubs from them at great prices and they were shipped right away and had them in no time. I purchased direct from their site though and the items were in stock when I ordered.
  25. I've never tried this but it sounds like fun. I'd take: 3 utility wood (15*) 7 iron 50* GW putter Conveniently these are the clubs I'm probably the most confident with.
