  1. I started off playing this par 63 executive a couple of time and shooting mid 90's scores. I was thinking to mysely why do people make such a big deal about breaking a 100? Then my brother took me to a regulation course. I remember looking at the course from the first tee not really believing how big the place was. Then I proceeded to shoot a 131. I think I was in awe of the place more than anything else. I was hooked!!! I still look at that card from time to time when I need a reminder that the game will inspire awe if you allow yourself see it.
  2. I play out there at least once a season. For whatever reson seems like my swing deserts me around the 5th hole and then... Anyway, it's a beautiful course. Not sure if they are doing this again this year but they used to have a $40 Tuesday deal including cart. Well worth the price (and the drive to get there!)
  3. I would too would love to hear more about this. I have learned to enjoy practicing with my wedges and am always looking for new shots to work on.
  4. Short and to the point. Still the best teaching style for the majority of people. Quite a switch from the "guru's" that are out there.
  5. Oh lord, how I have tried to find another ball other than the prov1. There is so much out there that's it's hard to find a really bad ball that you simply can't score with but time and again when I am hitting some other ball eventually I go back to the prov. It's just.... right.
  6. A couple of years ago I was looking at getting a new set of irons. Been looking at the Titleist 735cm's but figured that was way too much club for me. So I kept hitting different iron brands from Adams to Zevo's. Then at my club a guy decided he needed to get a set more for a senior and decided to sell his 735cm's. So I said the heck with it and picked them up for a nice price. All I can say is I wish I would have gotten these before! The set up was clean, they framed the ball like I thought a golf club should, and as far as forgiveness well they were not nearly as harsh on mis-hits as I thought they would be. Since then I have hit a number of "players" clubs and some are more forgiving than others but I didn't see the "night and day" difference between players and game improvement. The biggest difference for me was the distance. I would say I am a half to a full club shorter with the 735's than a game improvement but the accuracy especially with the short irons is much better. Maybe I have just convinced myself of the "truth" but I feel if the club looks right and frames the ball that gives you confidence well that's your set. Just my two cents.
  7. [QUOTE=iacas;291564]By doing the things he tells his name-dropped students to do. I think this is what bugs me about him. Don't get me wrong, the content in his books is quite useful and I have picked up quite a lot but he tries just has hard to validate his credentials. We get it, the pros love you. Same thing about Hank Haney. Everytime I see him wearing that TW hat... never mind. That's another topic altogther.
  8. Being married with three kids practice time is a rare thing. But now that the sun is out I get up and am at the course by 6:00am to get in 20+ minutes of chipping and putting at least 3 times a week. I fit in full swings once a week but funny how the scores are going down the more I practice the short game!! Anyway, I would love to get more time in but being limited to a round a week I need to make the most of my time out of my practice.
  9. Hi all. Anybody play this Nature Valley sponsored event? The entry fees are a bit steep but seems like a good time. http://www.naturevalleygolf.com/
