  1. Wish I had a golf galaxy nearby, but I don't. Does anybody know if Dick's sporting goods has a used section?
  2. I have a pair of Costa Del Mar's. Honestly the best pair of sunglasses I've ever owned. Yeah, they were pretty pricey, but I love em'. I just take my Croakie off when I'm playing so it's not swinging around. Might end up taking them off when playing shots to see if it helps, been playing with them on and haven't played as well as before I had them :P
  3. What type of wedge should I add?
  4. I'm going to start building my bag piece by piece as I get the money. Currently I have a starter set with: Driver 3 Wood 4 Hybrid 5-pw Putter I am looking to replace piece by piece so I can keep within my budget and it will take me a good while to build my bag. What do you guys think should be the first thing I replace? Thanks! Also, what's some good equipment that I should look at getting to replace my starter set?
  5. I've played probably 10-12 rounds now in the short time I've been playing golf and have played two courses probably 5 times each and played a different course one time. As much as I want to play other courses, I'm not good enough yet to where I want to leave my 5$ twilight course (it's pretty much a cow pasture with greens, fairway is like backyard grass). But once I get a decent handicap, I'm def. going to play some diff. courses around here.
  6. Yea, there was a twosome in front of me that was going so slow, I had to wait at least 4-5 times for them to drive around the fairway, then circle back, then it goes on and on... :P
  7. True, true haha, no hard feelings man. Guess after playing the blues once or twice with some people I've never played with before (of course, I didn't want my pride to get hurt so I wasn't going to play anything closer, and found out the hard way, that it ended up being an okay round where I thought I hit the ball amazing, but I just didn't score well.) Back on topic, I now play from the whites or whatever puts me between 6100-6300 :)
  8. Thank you for providing a comment that doesn't directly attack me, rather it offers advice, I appreciate it. I usually shoot around 110, but I feel like I lose more strokes in my short game such as 3 putting and hitting duffs etc, which I don't see how a different tee box will fix this. However, I do sometimes play whites, it just depends who I'm with when I play. If they play whites I do, if they play blues I do. Another reason I tend to shoot high is because I don't do very well on par 3's(because of my short game). In all honesty though, thanks for a thought out reply that didn't sound like you were coming out and attacking me. For this, I have listened to your advice and will begin playing back at the whites until I pull the handicap down. Thanks!
  9. To everyone that is telling me that I am holding people up, I got 9 holes in yesterday(walking) in about 90mins, a little less actually. So please, don't complain to me about this. I know ready golf and I know how to play at a pace that does not hold up those behind me. I do end up catching people in front of me however which holds me up.
  10. Think I may try this my next round, will post results when I try it.
  11. I don't play for school, but when I was deciding if I wanted to tryout I had to take into consideration I shoot around 100-110. With that being said, most of the guys on the team shoot between 80-90(Varsity). The coaches job is to conduct practices and to set his lineup to win, not necessarily to teach or provide instruction. Just my 2 cents about it, but I decided not even to tryout because I just picked up golf at the end of last golf season and was no where near good enough to play for school(wish I would have picked up the sport early as I'm a senior this year and won't get a chance to play for school or competitively until I join a club later in life). Good luck to your step son!
  12. Yea, the course I've been playing lately(which is 5$ after 5pm :) ). Doesn't have a slope or course rating, so I just use the standard 72 and 113 for it and play form the blues, it might be a little bit higher because it it's a pretty hilly course with small greens, but not knowing doesn't really bother me to much because I don't have a handicap yet anyway haha.
  13. Red? White? Blue? Which do you play from? Personally I play from the blue because even though I shoot 110 on avg. I feel I'm cheating myself if I play from any closer.
  14. Thanks guys, have gotten a lot of good input. I think I will just begin to save a little bit out of my paycheck and at the end of the month I think I should have enough for some new(to me :) ) irons. Am looking at 3balls.com and looking at the Mizuno Mx-15 and Tommy Armour 845s. I figure I won't have as much time in college to play golf, and I also will probably not have the same amount of money :( poor college students haha. to play golf as much. Once again thanks for the input guys, looked through all of it in making my decision.
  15. etlreams, I also play guitar and that is my other option is to trade off my electric guitar and amp(would keep my acoustic), still not sure though, am really thinking about selling both the xbox(and I don't play it that much, lol from everybody's comments it's like its a 20+hr a week thing, its more like 5hrs maybe haha), but I havn't really enjoyed my electric like I thought I was going to when I first got it this Christmas(have been playing acoustic for like 8yrs now). thanks for the advice!
  16. To Weavej2: I have a job, but am currently making a car payment and saving for college. But yea, thanks for the advice, I guess I thought it was like an amazing deal or something which is why, but I think I'll just wait till' I get some graduation money to buy new clubs :)
  17. So I'm in a predicament and need some advice. I found an amazing deal for $260 it would be a Nike Sumo Driver, Taylormade 3 wood, and Cleveland launcher 5 wood, and then 3-pw taylormade supersteel irons. The only problem is, I'm in high school, I don't have $260 laying around. However, I do have some video games I could sell that would put me close to having enough. I am currently playing with some clubs I bought at wally world when I started last season and am on the brink of breaking 100. At the same time, I want to sell my xbox and get the clubs, but at the same time I want to keep it because I enjoy it from time to time. Next year I am also going off to college so that is something else to think about. Thanks guys, look foward to reading your responses.
  18. I'm with Verizon and just got their golf gps on my phone, going to go try it out tomorrow. Will let you know how it is.
  19. Aim left :) But seriously, what helped me to stop it was to take a closed baseball bating stance. (Stand with both feet aligned, but then move your right foot back to where the toes are at the middle of your left foot). Fixed my slice, sure it's not permanent but it will fix it for the round.
  20. I was looking at pinemeadow, do they not adjust lie? that was one of the features about giga golf that I liked, they would adjust the lie -1 degree for me
  21. Got my first last season on a course with no official slope or rating, it was (if i remember right) a 340 par 4. Drove it about 230-240 with the wind helping me, then hit a nice pw about 3ft from the hole, jarred the putt and commenced the celebration(until the next hole which as usual, I triple bogeyed haha).
  22. They won because they bought more mulligans? Doesn't that just mean they made more bad shots, how do they win with that? They should have let ya'll play an extra hole or something.
  23. I'm using a mix of Callaway Blue(Bought them on sale because they were discontinuing them), and Titleist HP Performance. The other day my father and I were playing and he found a Pro V and gave it to me, and I played it for 3-4 holes(of course there had to be a hole with a straight forest on the right ;) ). I played it and I really liked the way it felt, but I just can't warrant spending 5$ on a ball yet.
  24. I bought a range card today for 30$ for 10 tokens which will end up being around 400 balls. Today I used this to start up a new practice routine, 1hr, hit half to 3/4 of the balls to the 75 and 50 pin in the range, then hit the others with my 5iron 7iron and driver(will rotate this as I become more consistent). 30-45 mins, work on pitch shots/ chips from 10-20 yds at the practice green and practice putting. Any putting drills that I should try? The putting green isn't very good, it's really hard and a really fast green, but I'm sure it will help more than not even practicing :D Thanks guys!
  25. Was just looking to see what everyone thought about his company. From what I can tell they seem to make quality equipment, but I would like some confirmation on this before purchasing my irons from them. Thanks!
