  1. I've been buying from TGW for 9+ years and never had any problems, until recently. I should call it an inconvenience, not a problem. The last two purchases, one item was marked in stock. Then when I paid, it was not in stock and took 2 weeks later to recieve. After that I placed an order and one of the items was a belt. Again, in stock, until I finalized the purchase. Then it was not in stock and took over a month to receive. Yet each day I went into the site and selected the belt, it was available. And no updates as to when I would recieve it until it was shipped. As for clubs, I would never anyway, from anywhere online. I need to try them, and be fitted. I only use TGW for balls, accessories, certain clothing, etc. Hey, no tax and only a small shipping fee. I remember when there was free shipping at one time. I'm sorry to hear about your experience though.
  2. Thanks all. That's why I love this forum. I guess I'll just have to get the best GI or SGI irons for me. Then if I do happen to be behind a tree, suck it up and punch out, or take a drop. Then simply worry about improving my game, before worrying about shaping shots. However, teeing off on a dogleg, can one learn to draw or fade, since there are really no GI drivers? Using the new R9, Diablo or FT9, having your drive go around the bend?
  3. Since, with most companies, a 3 hybrid is to replace a 3 iron, 4 hybrid to replace the 4 iron, etc, the 3H should never go as far as a 3 or 5 wood. BUT, I too can't hit my 3 wood at all. Most 3 woods are 15 - 15.5 degrees and I did see the Cobra 1 hybrid at 16 degrees. I love my Cobra 3 and 4 Hs. Best investment I've made in golf. So, hopefully their 1H can replace my 3 wood, even though not as long by a few yards?
  4. Sorry for intruding. On the subject of "workability", I asked about this and "forgiving clubs" in the Equipment posts and didn't really get a clear answer. I do not have the time, and am not at the handicap, to work the ball, yet would like to at least draw and/or fade, around a tree if need be. Can this be done with Gi or SGI irons?
  5. Hi again, Thanks for all your replies for my "workable and forgiving irons" thread. I'm glad I found this forum and you wonderful fellow golfers. I see tons of posts about Mizuno irons and many of you use them. I am like many, who doesn't like all the colorful irons with logos, etc. I like a traditional look, mainly forged. Yet, as I also stated in that thread, I only golf once or, twice if I am lucky, monthly and do not have time to work on my game, and haven't broken 100 yet. You all rave about the MX200s, yet I do not like the blue color. And if I go for the MX-19s, since Mizuno doesn't make them, I would pay the price of the irons, plus the fitting, plus the new longer shafts. My question is...... would I be able to use one of their MP series irons, without suffering too much until getting used to them? Obviously I would hit them in the shop and monitor my shots. I know it's not 100% the same, but with my skiing, I purchased a more aggressive, higher level skis than I am supposed to use, to learn and get used to them. This way as I progressed, didn't have to buy them later on, spending money I don't have. As much as I am ok with the Cobra S9s, I really like the look of the Mizunos.
  6. Hi again, If these questions have already been addressed, I apologize. I know the good wedges are used because of the grooves, for spin, bite and other reasons. Yet most company iron sets have gap and sand wedges also. Wouldn’t one want to be consistent with their clubs and used what is in the set? Or, like many out there, one then purchases, say, Cleveland or Vokey wedges for their gap, sand and lob wedges, why not then replace the pitching wedge with these also, and/or their 9 iron, if the wedges are available in these lofts? Also, the bounces on wedges are confusing. For the average player, is there a bounce, for each loft, to use as a rule of thumb, or should it depend on the local courses played for the types of bunker sand and roughs? Would my local pro shop know which bounce to sell me? Or would I need different bounces for the same wedge?
  7. Hi again, Just bought custom fitted hybrids. The person who fitted me is one of the owners of the shop. I also had the other owner fit me for a putter last year. AND I will eventually get fitted for irons. Should I have tipped these guys? I can't find any info on the web on this subject, only on taking lessons. Thanks, Eddie
  8. Hi there, Newbie here. My first thread. I am using old Taylor Made Supersteels. Not only do they have the wrong shafts flex, I need regular and these are stiff, but after I got fitted for hybrids, I found out I need 1" to 1.5" longer shafts. No wonder I keep topping the ball and a misshit shoots pain up my arm. Anyway... in a nutshell, what is workability? I read plenty of posts and reviews stating that clubs with forgiveness sacrifices workability. I haven't brokend 100 yet, have no time go golf regularly and work on my game. IF I can get tee time on weekends here in NYC, I can still only really play twice monthy. So I need game improvement irons. With these, can one at least learn to draw and fade, hitting around a tree or any other large object in my path? I am thinking of maybe the Cobra S9s or SZs? And, I know there are tons of posts on the Titleist AP1s so I am not asking for review or opinion, BUT, can a high handicapper still use these? Can I play decently until I get better? Thanks, Eddie
  9. Yup, can't read the radio display in my car either while wearing my Maui Jims. Tilting the head this way and that helps. Not while driving of course. ;)
  10. Kapalua, HI. Aaaaaaahhhhhhh. Heaven on earth. I don't think any other course is as beautiful, unless maybe the other courses on the islands. Then when I hit the lottery I'll play them too. :)
  11. Definitely! And so is Stephanie Sparks.
  12. No contest - Freddie Couplese. so relaxed and perfect.
  13. Hi there all, Sr Mainframe Programmer Analyst, here in LI, NY. Currently consulting, on a month by month basis, since my job of 7 years was outsourced 2 years ago. Been unamployed most of the time after that. Can't wait to get a real, fulltime job with benefits, especially vacations and sick days, to use for golf. :) Right now, I don't work, I don't get paid.
