Does anyone know?

I work for safeway, that's why my clubs suck and I can't afford to golf :(

Lets say you buy a set of golf clubs, and you have the option between graphite and steel shaft. Are the heads of the clubs exactly the same or is there a weight difference based on the shaft type? secondly, I found a nice Big Bertha by Callaway X-12 PW that only had half a shaft. I've deduced that the shaft was "ladies flex" graphite. Would the club head be the same as a set of men's callaway x-12's or is there a difference? Thanks guys

I'd love to get pings, but it's a money issue with me. Gotta have money to take the darn kids to the doctor almost every week, so my hobbies take a back seat. That and I don't make much money. Wife is a stay at home mommy. Things have a funny way of working out though. oh, does anyone know anything about "copies" of clubs... ping copies, etc? I was at a garage sale today where a guy had some ping copies he wanted to much money for, but I was curious if it's worth spending money on clubs that give you most to all of the benefits of the name brand.

I just went to some garage sales with my kid, picked up a 3-5 Nike Forged irons for $20... not bad. I'll work on the complete set, but I'm not in a hurry. I hardly get to play as it is. Our extra money goes to paying bills. Occasionally there's some left over for me to goof off with.

since my game isn't that good, should I bother trying to talk the wife into "new to me" clubs? or just stick with what I have? My neighbor fixed a lot of things I was doing wrong with my swing, so I've started striking the ball better, I just need more practice. any thoughts for a poor guy? =D

A friend of mine works for a big golf course out here in Oregon and he snags the "throw away" clubs that the pro-shop has kept the prerequisite 30 days. We pick through what we want to keep and try and sell the rest on craigslist. hasn't really panned out so far. But the only downside is i have like 25 irons sitting in my garage. I do have a GW that a friend gave me and later told me he found while golfing. I smacked him for not turning it in, but I sure as hell kept it (I never did find out what course he found it on). I like how it feels when I hit it.

I'd like to just play more than once every other week. But we all know that takes money, and that's not an abundant resource atm

I've seen replays of Jack's game. He was amazing! It makes you wonder how he would do with today's technology... would he be better? Last time I saw Tiger play I have to admit that I agreed with the NBC (i think) announcer that he didn't look like he was putting much torque on that knee. He's still being very careful with it. But can you fault him?
