  1. Nearly got an ace today on a par 3 course. It was the 17th hole and only 103 yards, but i hit a PW pretty good, landed 5 feet in front of the hole, bounced and rolled just to the right of the hole. Walked up to the green and it was 2 feet from the hole. Tapped in for birdie (got a 61 on the par 54!)
  2. I love the x-18's and the Nike Victory Red Irons (any one, but i like the forged blades the best) and my clubs, the r7s
  3. Went to the college course today and shot a 92. My driving was insanely good (10/14 fairways when i usually hit like 6 or 7.) but my chipping was very weak and I had 39 putts. Still I played pretty well for walking in some legitimate heat and humidity for the first time this year.
  4. I'm not one to give much advice, but I think you are taking the club back too shallow. Try and point the club higher to the sky on your backswing. Also, at the top of the swing, cock your wrists more than you are currently doing.
  5. I was there. He hit the divider (made a loud noise), looked at the club and saw that. A topped ball would not cut the driver like it did.
  6. I play a little poison too if the wait is pretty long. If not, me and my bro usually just talk sports and enjoy the time out.
  7. Shot a 91 today!! Many things contributed to this (my previous best score was 97). It had been about 2 weeks since I'd been out to the course but I had been working on a lot of things at the driving range to get rid of my insane slice and hit my irons better. It was also my first round with my newly bought r7 irons (with graphite shafts) so I found it easier to attack the greens. Finally, the weather was perfect here in mid-Missouri today. High was 85 or so!
  8. Went to a nice little par 3 course today and shot a 68 with a birdie on the last hole. A nice tee shot to within 5 feet of the cup was a good way to end the day. My score was not bad considering my handicap and I was looking to improve my short game which I feel I did. I consistently put some 10 foot putts in and I am now feeling more confident with my putting. It was also the first time I played with my r7 irons and I LOVE them! Solid is the best word for them.

    Walkers??

I started out playing golf walking with my grandfather but since then I have started riding a cart. I think because of this thread I will start walking again to see how it is (and to save some money!)
  10. This wasn't from this week, but I just remembered it and I wanted to share. It was a bit of a long par 3 that had a lake between the tee box and the green, so i pulled out my hybrid and I felt like i needed to overswing. As a result, i topped the ball but it still came off the club hot and low to the ground. Right before the end of the lake, the ball took a quick skip off the water and popped up near the green. Got up and down for a par.
  11. My Taylor Made Burner Rescue (22*) is my easiest club to hit. It is consistently my straightest club and I use it a lot. Other than that, I like my putter.
  12. I shot a 99 again yesterday, but I really had to turn it on the last 9. I ended up with 52-47, getting bogey's on 8 straight holes to begin the back 9. This course was tougher than the last one i played so i am very pleased that i am continuing to improve. I hit 7/14 fairways and was hitting my driver straighter than ever. Now got to work on putting (gotta make some 1 putts!)
  13. I've been watching his YouTube videos and he makes the game seem so easy. I went out to the course on Thursday and shaved about 10-15 strokes just from the tips he gave (i'm pretty bad so it wasn't too hard haha). I would definitely recommend him as well.
  14. It's easy to get discouraged in golf. I would know because I am not too good! I notice I get in trouble when I tell myself that I am sucking which causes me to keep sucking. If I look at the positives of a swing that didn't go the way i wanted, I find I stay more relaxed which allows me to play better.
  15. I am currently a student at Mizzou's world known journalism school, hoping to become one of the sports journalists you read on the web!
  16. 1. Get fitted for the right set of irons. 2. Hit 8 or 9 out of 14 fairways consistently. 3. Improve driving distance by 30-40 yards. 4. Get rid of natural fade. 5. Average less than 30 putts per round. 6. Break 90 soon, and consistently score under 95. 7. BE CONSISTENT
  17. Par 4, 3rd shot from about 15 yards off the green. I chipped it and saw it hit the green and it felt good, so i put my head down to walk and get my putter. I glanced to see where the ball was going to stop and it went right in the hole for my first ever birdie!
  18. I shot a 99 today, breaking 100 for the first time! I was using my new Burner driver for the first time and it helped a lot (along with the hybrid I recieved for free when I bought the driver). I also had my first birdie ever, a chip in from 15 yards off the green. Obviously, I have not been playing for too long, but I love it!
