  1. I am drawn to cleveland becuase of the excellent customer service i have had with them, thats hard to find these days. (and my cleveland lob wedge = my fave club in the bag)
  2. i found one advantage to being a lefty. Golf shops will have big price reductions on last yeras models. All my righty friends can't find last years models for discounts. Because of the lack of lefty customers the last year model sale clubs stick around much longer. I was able to pick up my cleveland lob wedge and my taylormade 3 wood and my irons for much cheaper thanks to this.
  3. I played woodley once, it is very wide open and very flat. They do have a natural turf driving range, thats a plus.
  4. If i didn't have a tee time already I would join you guys, perhaps i should get my handicap a bit lower first though. Im playing Vista this weekend. Ben, i have heard some good things about ventura county courses like you mentioned. I think I will check some out in the coming weeks.
  5. im in love with under armour heat gear hats. I have never worn a more comfortable hat, great for the heat.
  6. yes it will effect it. I cracked my cleveland. If your seeing bubbles then that means water is getting in. Water in there could obviously effect the swing of the club. I was able to send my driver into cleveland and they put a new head on and sent it back with no charge within days
  7. i would tend to think an ace is easier. im with the one fluke shot is easier than an entire fluke game. Now if your tiger woods im sure a hole in one is much harder than an under par round at the local course
  8. i see it hit with my wedges but nothing else really
  9. i live right next to knollwood and i still have not played it. seems that it always has tournaments going on the days i can play. I hit the range there all the time but it drives me nuts how BAD thier range balls are. Never seen such horrible range balls, they are bald, cracked, gashed, you might get 10 decent balls to hit out of 100. i hit knuckle balls with my irons lol
  10. for you LA players i found this web site http://www.la••••••••••••••/clubs/playeradmin_home.cfm you are able to keep your stats an analyze your play for tons of LA county courses. You can print score cards with places for the data you want (GIR's, putts etc)
  11. i picked up a cleveland lob wedge and absolutely love it
  12. out in pasadena brookside is nice. Vista valencia is fun to play, they have an island green on hole 17 with sand traps on each corner of the island, you also tee from up above on a hill, i just love that hole.
  13. Okay so quick background on my driver i have a bad slice and i have too much loft (ballooning i think they call it) so when i do it it strait, the ball floats in the air and drifts in the direction i would normally slice it. Club is a 10.5 regular flex cleveland xls. My irons are doing fine. So yesterday at the range i was working with tips taken from all over and nothing seemed to help. Then i decided to work with weight distribution at address and during the backswing. I found that when i have my weight shifted slightly to the front foot at address I am able to keep the ball strait and much less loft. However i noticed when the shot didn't take off like a rocket it had too much top spin, nothing i have encountered before (note: these range balls were just short of bald) I have not used it out on the course yet but plan to this weekend. so the question is, have any of you used a forward weight shift at address to help "ballooning" or a slice? do you think this may be a bad habit to get into with my driver? any thoughts would be appreciated
  14. I had that same problem then fixed it recently. I was able to produce more loft on my lob wedge and this caused the ball to stick and move very little once it landed on green. Only problem with that is i have very small chance of rolling in the hole since it lands and stops, for now i will deal with that problem until i become more skilled and can spin the ball. I think club head speed with loft is key.
  15. feel great but dont last long at all. only if you dont mind going through balls every couple holes.
  16. to me it is worth it to jump out and buy a decent set (if you have $ of course) when i start most sports i find that buying the equipment/gear right at the start gets me much more motivated to keep up with the sport. I spent all that money i may as well get good at it!
  17. that shot by byrd yesterday when he decided to lay up instead of shoot over the water, it had the super backspin that stuck and rolled right into the hole. Had it missed the hole that spine would of taken him a good 30 feet away from the hole. Put him 2 strokes in the lead instantly. (then tiger took over) either way, that shot put my jaw on the floor
