  1. Toyota pickup truck.
  2. Spalding...dug 'em out of the closet recently and having a grand time with old friends...
  3. 48 on 9 holes, 3 par course. have a terrible fit of topping lately. it's horrible.
  4. FWTIW: I was playing the back 9 in my small community course and bumped into this really old guy (older than me) who was just shooting 'em to the green...very slowly. He walked back to the tee box...again very slowly and began to chat with me. He apologized for having me wait which was no big deal, really. He confessed he hated to sink the balls in the cup because he couldn't bend over to retrieve them, so he just shot 'em to the pin. I told him no big deal as I took out my score card. He said why bother to keep a score, when one should just enjoy the game...just tee off and hit it again and again until you sink it! Maybe tomorrow I'll try his method and just hit that little white ball all over the place for the sake of hitting the crap out of a little white ball. Funny thing, he had the same small golf bag I had. Perhaps he was me from the future...oh man was the 60's good to me! Shoot 'em high boys!
  5. 45 on a 3 par 9. It was a good day.
  6. Well, sorry but I wish to differ. My experience with Callaway and their customer service has left a bitter taste. I placed an order for their Top FLite IHS irons listed on their web site as a clearance item. Availability 3-5 days. I did the necessary and waited. I called customer service on the third day and was advised the clubs would go out at the end of the week. Meanwhile my order was listed as "Backorder." Come the end of the week-now day #6, I see the "Backorder" listing is now "New Order." Cool think I. Two more days go by, still listed as "New Order" and no charge to my card. Hmm, I call again and was advised the Top Flite IHS Iron set is unavailable and no further stock is expected. Someone was suppose to call me. I need to cancel. However, the dude sez we have nice used clubs for sale. So I cancel. Their web site still shows 3-5 day availability...
  7. FTIW-I just ordered a set of clearance Top Flite Irons from Callaway. (I don't have the bucks you guys have to spend.) A new set of clubs is a new set of clubs to me. Anyway, It was listed on their site and I ordered. For days it continued to be listed as Backordered. I called customer service and was advised the set would go out by the end of the week. Another couple of days later pass and my Spaulding's are looking uglier than ever. Customer service advised the clubs are out of stock and no further stock will be coming in. Someone should have called me. I need to cancel my order. So it went from 3-5 day availability to "ya ain't gettin' em old man" All I gotta say based on this experience, they suck. If I had the surplus money, I'd go buy a set of Titleist. PS look below...I listed my new clubs thinking there would be no problems.
  8. Well, I am new to all of this, having been exploring golf for the last two months. But, yeah it all deals with style. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't certain pro golfers have their own line of clubs, and stuff as well as clothes? Commercialism. Stick your name on a product and zippo it's for sale. Golf I understand it, was for the rich country club dudes with the bucks to join such. Golf for the masses like me...is simply a game to play and enjoy. Until such time as one wraps their driver across a tree! It's the same consumerism that has wrapped it self around sports, and any kind of product one wishes to sell to the paying consumer. The wealthy like to show off their wealth...thus the demand for proper clothes in the country club and on the course..opps, spreading into the clothing thread. It's the American way to make a buck. Some swimmer gets caught sucking on a pipe filled with pot and wham he's off the breakfast cereal box! Apologies go out, rehab, and now he's back in good graces and selling bathing suits... or some other crap line of must have's. Paris Hilton...no, i won't get started with that mess. I wear jeans when I play...no one says anything. It ain't no fancy ego tripping social club...just a bunch of guys and women playing a sport they love. Enjoy the game...forget about the fancy crap...i gotta wrap my driver across a tree!
  9. I watch their tee off, get my tee ready, chat if anyone in their group is chat worthy...
  10. I have a set of vintage Arnold Palmer woods, made of wood! Being new to golf...a month and a half as of this writing...I was wondering what the value of the vintage clubs may be as well as how old they are. They are a 1, 3, and 4. They are used, seen many a ball hit their face. Thanks.
  11. Last night I and my neighbor signed up for 4 one hour lessons. I have been trying to teach myself by reading books and watching the Golf Channel. (Hold that thought) I live in a small retirement community that has a three par 18 hole golf course. Ain't the Black course in Bethpage, but a small 100-150 yard from tee to green course. So, for the past month plus a couple of day, I have been crossing the street to the 3rd hold and whacking away at this white ball. It skims the grass, sometimes takes flight. sometime to the right, sometimes to the left. But each day I go out there, work up a sweat, and swing those clubs. I'm going for lessons, just to learn something. I'm an old dog, looking for some new tricks. PS I have no idea what # I am...thus the 666---it's the devil!
  12. You're judging people on what they wear. What's next? Length/style of hair of hair, beards? Religion? Color? IMHO if it's a city/state course they should be no dress code. Private course it's up to them. I would never join a course that had me for a member...Marx...er Groucho Marx.
