  1. Anyone know how true these run to size? I have large hands and find that most XL's don't fit my hand properly and I'm always on the lookout for another model of glove that fits right so that I can stock up when the time comes. Right now the only ones I've found that fit consistently are the TM Burner or Mizuno gloves.
  2. That is awesome. It's nice to "run into" people that actually win these contests. As an aside, any of you Face Bookers out there should check out Games People Play and become a fan there too. I've won two contests there in the last 6 months. It's good to see places that are being proactive about getting and keeping customers.
  3. You need to find a different place to play. I worked in a factory just after I graduated from college so I could pay the bills. Not only do I play golf with alot of the folks I worked with there, but they're still some of my closest friends. We are by no means refined, but we're not hillbillies either. I'm sure to some people we look "unrefined", but I could give a crap, golfing is the main way I stay connected to those folks to this day, so if you're playing somewhere that you feel looks down on you I say "screw 'em" and find somewhere you feel comfortable, even if it's not as nice of a course.
  4. I beg to differ, I think that represent a"handful" of something, just not something I'd want to have a handful of, if you know what I mean:)
  5. He's definitely colorful, I'll give him that.
  6. My understanding of slander is that you would need to show just cause that the alleged slander damaged your reputation, and that that damage affected your earning potential. It's possible in this case that Phil's lawyers could argue such a case, but at what cost? If I'm Phil I think I let it slide. BTW, anyone think that maybe the wedge controversy that seemed to reach critical mass during Saturday's round had anything to do with Phil's hectic round on Sunday? Just wondering.
  7. I've tried a couple of the TM Rossa's and just can't seem to get in the groove with them. My dad, on the other hand, hasn't golfed much in the past few years and tried one out and it seemed to fit him perfect, so I may be picking one up for Father's Day. They're definitely a sharp looking stick though, I'll give them that.
  8. I'd like to give one a test drive but none of the shops around here have any yet. The earliest any of them say they'll get any is early March.
  9. I switched to a midsize grip early last season and it was one of the best moves I ever made. I was getting tightness and pain in my thumb and ring fingers and finally tried a larger grip at the suggestion of a friend. Not only did the hand pain stop but I found I was slicing the ball less often as well. When you find the grip size that works for you, do yourself a favor and save yourself some money and watch a few online tutorials on how to regrip your clubs yourself. It's a little tedious, but worth the time with the money you'll save if you're doing a whole set of clubs.
  10. I can't pull of the visor look. As for caps, while I'll wear fitted caps on other occasions, I prefer adjustable caps for golfing. I sweat alot and I don't like anything that feels too tight around my head. I tend to wear the more breathable fabric caps, of which I have several, it usually depends on what color I'm wearing that day, then I'll try and best match the hat to the primary color.
  11. Don't feel bad, I'm in the same boat, sort of anyway. I don't really have a "back 9" problem as I do a 3-4 holes that consistently bite me in the ass problem. I'd start with getting tired as being a possible culprit, and if that happens, you'll inevitably loose focus. Along those same lines, stay hydrated, particularly before you begin your round and then have some fluids during as well. Past that, I've learned that you just have to try and put the bad shots/holes behind you quickly, which I know is easier said than done. With a 2 handicap I'd warn against selling your clubs, then again...if they're reasonably priced feel free to PM me so you can give up this crooked game ;) Hope this helps and good luck.
  12. I'm signed up and ready to go under the name Czervik Construction. I'd have no problem with a small wager, but I'd agree that a decision should be made in the next week or so and we'd need to figure out a fair way to do it so that we don't have to send out Moose and Rocco to help find people's checkbooks. By the way, when I'm atop the standings, just think of this http://www.carlspackler.com/sounds/032.mp3
  13. If you're not against playing "used" balls, Lost Golf Balls has AAAA Nike One Black's for $10/dozen and free shipping for orders over $37.50. I've bought many a ball from them and haven't had any problems with any of the balls I've received.
  14. Funny that I stumbled upon this thread. My story dates all the way back to, well, yesterday. Was at one of the local golf stores with my wife. She had a couple things she needed to get her brother and she was also going to let me pick out a sand wedge to complete my set of irons. After I had my wedge picked out she was futzing around trying to pick out a windbreaker for her brother I killed time knocking some Scotty's around the putting green...bad idea. Much like playing with puppies at the dog pound, sooner or later you're going to find one you want to take home. I tried about 4 different Scotty's out and started draining putt after putt with the Newport 2.0 Mid Slant. I was in the zone for about 15 minutes, to the point where I didn't notice that my wife was standing there waiting for me. She says, "I thought you had a putter already". I reply, "I do, just trying these out until you're ready to go, seeing how the other half lives" Well, a few minutes later she says, "Would you rather have that than the sand wedge thingy?" At which time I explain there is a slight difference in price. "You've been good this year, if you really want it and will use it go ahead and I'll get you the wedge for our anniversary." Wow! So, I am now a proud first time owner of a Scotty. Of course, since we just got a fresh 4" of snow last night, I'll be spending the next couple months honing my putting skills indoors, but it's a little easier than trying to hone my wedge skills indoors I guess. Merry Xmas to all!
  15. Welcome, I'm from Janesville myself, and I concur on the weather, the wait until spring is going to kill me. At least nowadays I can go to a simulator and "play" unlike years ago.
  16. I know people who've had good luck with Rock Bottom golf if you're looking for a "big box" type online retailer. Otherwise, I've had nothing but good luck with TGW and Golfsmith alike.
  17. I bought a pair of these this past season. I've gotten back into the game after a long layoff and when I last played regularly metal spikes were the norm. My knees never liked the metal spikes much back in the day and I didn't want to lay out the $ for plastic spikes to find out I don't like them so I thought I'd give these a try. While they're not quite as "sticky" as the old spikes, I thought they did a good job in most conditions. Just enough traction to give you more sure footing than just tennis shoes. The price is pretty agreeable as well.
  18. Listen, personally I could care less about Tiger's indiscretions. Let's face it, this country has elected President's who've had a far worse track record of womanizing, who then went on to lie under oath about it. Tiger is a golfer, not an elected official. Now, do I think, from a PR standpoint it might be best for him to get in front of a camera and admit what he did, yes. If for no other reason that to take some of the pressure off his family, sponsors, colleagues to keep having to answer questions. Now, reference this whole crash thing, again, I don't fault Tiger for not talking to the police. He does not have that obligation. However, where I do fault him is for scheduling 3 appointments, then canceling them. It's apparent to me that he never intended on meeting with the cops, so just tell them you're not going to meet with them and stop wasting their time. Trust me, the cops want to close this case out and move on to more important things themselves and the longer you jerk them around the longer you prolong things. Just be honest and tell them you don't want to talk to them about it and that they'll need to complete their investigation without your statement. It happens all the time and the world still goes on spinning.

  20. Holy crap. I just about bought one of those on clearance at a local store for $28. Looks like that's not a bad deal after all.
  21. I'll say this, I was between this bag and the Nike Sasquatch and I bought the Nike, for more $ I might add, and though the Nike bag has been fine, I wish I would have bought this bag instead. I say go for it.
  22. Let me speak for those of us who've duffed around the course for a few years and still aren't tickling a 14 handicap when I say, first, congrats, that is very impressive. Second, damn you! Showoff
  23. I'd have to agree. If the set you're using is at all decent then I'd get a few lessons. You can always work up to a starter set of irons in the same price range later. As long as the father in law doesn't mind you using the old set and it's not a huge pain to get them from him (if he hasn't already given them to you). I player with a sound swing and crappy clubs can consistently outplay a player with a flawed swing and nice clubs. I speak from experience, I'm consistently kicked around the golf course by friends with lesser quality sets of clubs who know what they are doing more than I do...and it helps that alot of them are younger than I am too.
  24. Agreed, just put this on my new Odyssey. I think it depends on whether or not you like a thicker or more traditional style grip. I noticed that I was wristing alot of my putts with the stock grip and now that I have a larger grip I'm more consistent with my putting stroke. If you like a jumbo size grip I'd highly recommend the Tiger Shark.
  25. Well, after moving out of the tax hell known as Wisconsin she was probably so overjoyed and in disbelief of how much money she was actually allowed to keep by the government that she could care less if you spent it on golf. I, on the other hand, have yet to break free of the clutches of this state and therefore must budget my golfing.
