  1. I've got a Sun Mountain Four 5. Really great bag for walking. Really crappy bag for being thrown on a cart. I thought I wouldn't mind the roller bottom / leg actuator and how it sticks out further than the actual bottom of the bag, but when placed in a cart its a super pain in the butt. Makes it almost impossible to fit the bag into the back of a cart if your riding partner has a cart or staff bag.
  2. Clubs are irrelevant. Your mental game and physical swing are what separates scratch golfers from 20 handicaps. I could go out and shoot within 3 shots of my average with any set of clubs sold today. I wont shoot lights out though. The reason, my short game. It will still suck no matter what clubs I use.
  3. The whole thing was slanted against iPhone apps.
  4. Nike Tours and Tour D's are $29.99 a dozen right now here in north Texas, FWIW. Picked up a box of Tours just last week myself.
  5. GolfShot with GPS is greatness. I personlly just went through a similar connundrum. I ended up spending the money to upgrade to an iPhone and buy GolfShot instead of getting a dedicated golf GPS. Golfshot is usually within 1 yard of the markers on the course. For me, much more useful to have an iphone and app instead of golf only gps.
  6. No and none.
  7. If you push right (vs slice right) then a toe balanced putter will help with that problem.
  8. Why don't you just do a full fitting at the place where you want to buy the clubs? They are generally free if you buy clubs at the place you have it done. Once you know your specs, you will know for sure if you need graphite or steel, high or low kick point, xtra stiff or regular shafts, oversized or regular grips, upright or flat lie angle, etc... Then once you know all that, you will be armed with the info needed to narrow down all the choices to a select few, hit them, and decide from there
  9. Not sure on the review part, but I can say that in my experience, this is the best sub $100 putter I have ever used. Mizuno Bettinardi BC1 - $99
  10. I carry one. I'm not embarrassed to hit balls I find on course. In fact, I buy probably one box of balls a year for use in 2-3 tournaments a year. All the balls I play with on a regular basis are ones I find on course. Having one also gives you something to do when you are waiting on the group in front of you.
  11. Not from me. I'm one of those who can see whats wrong, but have no idea on a good way to fix it. I'd just screw you up worse if I tried.
  12. I can see the videos now. Way, way, way, way, way too flat.
  13. IMHO, this brings up one of the biggest areas of improvement for 99% of golfers and yet one that relatively few people discuss....course management. For me personally, I never play a shot based on yardage remaining, I always play instead based on margin for error. Its a different way to play a course than many amateurs are used to, but it saves strokes from day one....even for those who are not very good at half swing shots. I always play for a miss. Where do I want my ball to end up worst case? I always aim for the fat part of the fairway and fat part of the green. I don't short side myself. Sure, I make less birdies and eagles than peers of the same ability, but I make far less bogies and higher. I score better, because I take the blowup hole out of the equation. Once I moved to this strategy, I dropped by handicap by 4-5 shots. I basically took 2 blow-up holes that would have been double bogeys or worse, out of play and guaranteed myself no worse than bogey on every hole.
  14. Can't help you with swing changes/ideas, but do have a thought on your tee troubles. I used to have a hell of an inconsistent time with my tee ball also. I'd push one out right, hook the next, slice the third, so on... After weeks of trial and error, I determined that an easy fix, FOR ME, was to change my tee height. I used to tee the ball high, half the ball above a 460cc head at a minimum, with most shots at about 3/4 of the ball above the tee. After moving back down to about only 1/4 of the ball above the head, I found pure consistency. I'm back to hitting 70% of fairways now. I'm not sure how much much my swing has changed from before to now, and what impact that has had on my new found consistency, but either way, if you tee it high currently, its worth a shot at teeing it low to see what happens.
  15. Mizuno/Bettinardi BC1 Putter.
