So if I understand you right, if a golf tournament is 4 rounds, you are saying they skip one of the rounds? We hope his current swing will be better. Certainly looked better at the Hero than it has in at least half a dozen years. Let's hope he stays healthy and returns to elite status. -

Players show up on Monday at most events, practice Tuesday, have a Pro-Am on Wednesday most weeks and then begin playing for real on Thursday. Do you really believe the broadcast team does not see them prior to Thursday and only cherry pick a few holes to analyze them? If you believe that, you are being pretty naïve. -

Not sure where all your hate is coming from. Are you Progressive by chance? By the way, Youtube has numerous examples of Kostis analysis on numerous PGA pro's and it is all good. Increase your knowledge and stop being a hater. So here is a good question I am sure someone on the blog will make a comment on. Tiger has always swung very hard at the ball, often at 115-120 MPH on the driver. Couple that with the excessive head dipping, all he had to be was just a fraction off on his strike being stuck to deliver some very off line tee shots. Do I get at least an AMEN on that? Kostis has pointed that out on more than one occasion. Good thing Tiger finally addressed that at Hero and hopefully it will continue at Torrey. He is still plenty long with far more control. -
Let's see, no majors since 2008, going through 4 swing coaches since, video evidence in slow motion showing a stuck position at impact from "excessive" head dipping. By the way, the other players you mentioned were never as bad as the bad habits Tiger got into which caused wild driving and constant scrambling.

Mod: Since @Veteran Golf Fan can't keep things on topic, posts #43-47 were moved from the Peter Kostis swing analysis topic to this one. Most good players don't dip excessively like Tiger did prior to his swing fix. Man, that excessive dip led to a lot of problems not clearing the hips and getting stuck on the way down. Glad he got it fixed so he can concentrate on beating a lot of pro's this year.

Like I said, the old methods of analyzing the swing were inferior to the modern methods of face on with the player. Kostis does this and his analysis is spot on. -

Ok then, post something recent from Kostis per the way I have been seeing it. Please explain the bad angle when the player is shown with the camera facing him from 15-2O feet. By the way, haven't seen any tour players complaining about the video camera. -

I have seen several videos on this site in a short time, many at least 4 years old and citing the video as gospel. Didn't make me warm and fuzzy, especially on Tiger. Hey, he is swinging different now. Post something from the Hero and we will be good to go. -

I recommend that you throw out all old Kostis instruction videos and go with the much more recent videos he does on all CBS telecasts. He has changed his analysis and you should too. -

How can anyone get a correct analysis of a swing from 20 feet in back of the player? Haven't seen that used in years. Technology has improved a great deal since then. Perhaps you haven't noticed the changes in swing analysis? -

Someone picked the wrong example of analyzing. Much better to see the current examples with the camera facing facing the player, not from behind. You can see posture, grip, ball position, club coming into the ball, head position if they are dipping and follow through. This is what Kostis does on a regular basis. -

He is a style setter and very popular. Michelle Wie was joking with him that she was first on the high tops.

Anyone remember Bob Rosberg doing the on course commentating for years? God rest his soul, but he was wrong about 98% of the time when he said "He's got no shot" when seeing the lie and with trees in front. After the pro hit the green with a good shot, he went silent. What he meant to say was that he would not have a shot. -

If you think I am going to jump on the anti Kostis bandwagon, you will be waiting for a very long time. -

The childish ones are the ones who claim they know more than others who have played and watched top level golf for a long time. I have been low handicap for many years and had a 70 last Saturday playing in 20 MPH winds. What did you shoot? By the way, I stated an opinion and was attacked by the likes of Iacas who I don't believe has won on tour the last time I checked. He said Kostis was not good at his job. Hmm, wonder how he has kept his job for many, many years.
-
Iacas, I had a good laugh when you said Brandel Chamblee was a great player. That is an alternate universe you are living in.
-
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha. A 15 handicapper lecturing me and telling me I am being childish.
-
Which network are you the lead analyst on so I can watch it sometime and have you break down all the swings of great players?
-
In the opinion of many, Kostis is a premier analyzer as being the lead analyst for CBS for many years. He has seen all the great players in the past 25 years up close and personal. He can quickly pin point why a player hits it the way they do, both good and bad.
-
Watched some older films of the great Jack Nicklaus who seemed to have a pretty good career, right. When he was a kid and younger man, he would work on his fundamentals prior to the golf season. His teacher, Jack Grout would grab his hair to keep him from dipping and it seemed to work pretty well. Jack's signature move was to tilt his chin to the right for greater freedom on the backswing. Not many signs of dipping in that swing.

Allow me to define it since you said I haven't defined it. Excessive - Going beyond the usual, necessary or proper limit or degree. Yes, Tiger went way beyond the proper limit or degree when starting down and it led to inconsistency and numerous blocks due to getting stuck. During the Haney years, he had trouble hitting the world with a driver because of "excessive" head dipping and the stuck position. Kostis was right, by the way.
