  1. looks pretty legit, im a lefty (bought a squareback off ebay), i thought a similar thing about counterfeits, if major companies dont bother making their clubs in left hand because of the small market, why would crims make fakes for a small market. which seller did you buy it from?
  2. i have mizuno mp-60s and my wedges are vokeys, was thinking of getting mizuno wedges next which are forged. my 60 vokey gets a fair workout and is about due to be replaced, im wondering if anyone out there can tell me how quickly mizuno forged wedges wear out. i dont think my mp-60s wear badly as what people make out forges to wear, some people make it sound as if they are going to be hacked out and unusable after 3 rounds. aside from my putter i think my 60 wedge gets the most use so its naturally going to wear out quicker, any past experinces welcome, thanks
  3. thanks for the heads up, i think after 3000 posts you are ok to post a promo, someone who has less than 5 posts its obvious of their affiliation. i really hate marketing people on blogs, their posts are shameless, which makes it easy to spot, then boycott
  4. Depends more on how many balls you hit on the range, my mizuno's are going fine and don't think they wear as badly as people say. I bought an ex demo 6i that I use to hit balls with, it has hit alot of balls, easily over 2000 on a grass range that has really harsh dirt. The face is pretty worn and doesnt look good but I dont think there would be any problems with using it for a competition round. Any slight extra wear on the clubface is worth the feeling of hitting a flush shot with a forged club, especially a mizuno.
  5. depends on you pw loft, depending what set it is it can be anything between 44-47, thats a big factor in deciding your gw, sw and lw lofts.
  6. I replaced my 3 and 5 wood and replaced them with a 4 wood so i could fit in the 52deg wedge. Lofts on my irons are unchanged. I almost thought about getting rid of 3 and 4 iron and putting in a 4i hybrid to act as a 3 and a half iron, I find hybrids go longer than the club they claim they are replacing. I've got pw - 47 gw - 52 sw - 57 lw - 62
  7. I know the mp68 and 52s are in left handed, I've got a set of mp-60s and looking to get a new set, the 3 sets I'm keen on are the 62, 58 and 300, all not in left handed, same as the new 630 woods. I've bought every club in my bag from ebay, no probems, I was just throwing it out there to see if criminals are interested in the lety market, like I said I thought if major companies dont bother I thought the fakers would as well. Thanks for the replies.
  8. Anyone out there heard of left handed counterfeits? My guess is they wouldnt bother, much like most golf companies dont bother making clubs available in left hand, mizuno I'm looking in your direction, disgrace that not one club they released this year is available in left hand. I've had no problems or heard of any, just a thought.
  9. manufacturer ads want it to be all about distance, that's not everything, it's about performance, I've got mp-60s and they are fantastic some sets have 44 or lower PW's, thats ridiculous, that leaves a massive gap to cover for your scoring clubs, it's like giving someone a PW that had the same loft as a 7i and thinking it's the greatest iron set ever because they hit their PW 30yds further
  10. Being left handed I'm used to getting shafted by companies who don't make the clubs I want in left handed. But I'm pretty annoyed that all of mizuno's new clubs are not available in LH, the mx-300, mp-58, mp-630 drivers and hybrids aren't in LH. Alot of companies have been pretty good lately with making clubs for lefties, until now, this is a major step backwards for lefies. Thank you for listening to my lefty rage.
  11. i sand my grips, gets rid of the rubber that gets a bit hard, then i do the dishwashing liquid, works great. i dont give it a heavy sanding, just enough to get that outter layer that is worn/hard
  12. good stuff, you turned an original detour into the recent detour thats been released with the shorter guide line section detours and phantoms dont hold their value. glad it worked for you, you were brave (or silly!) enough to give it a try and it worked, you should be congratulated for having a go at something instead of being shot down, the putter didnt have much of a resale value anyway.
  13. how does it affect the weight of the club head, i'm guessing a layer of the metal from the clubhead is removed, similar with the grooves???
  14. i think he's great, i love the technical stuff, i want to know why i'm doing something, not just because someone thinks it works for them so therefore it should work for everyone. he's got an enormous amount of techincal research behind everything he says, how many other teachers have rolled 1000's of balls on 100's of greens, to understand how and why a ball will break.
  15. i think drivers have reached a point where they cant get much better, that graph shows that the newest titleist clubs go 1-2 yards further than their clubs from 3yrs ago. 1-2 yards isn't worth paying $300 for. its now who's got the best marketing department to make you think their newest driver is alot better than the one you've got i've got an ft-5 10* with a v2 stiff, i tried out the g15 10.5* with a avixcore shaft, the distance was exactly the same, literally balls next to each other. ball flight was very similar, wasnt on a launch monitor so dont know about spin. i'm glad i hit them side by side on the practice fairway, stopped any thought of wanting to get a new driver
  16. i really like the V2, ive got that in my ft-5 and a vs proto in my titleist 3 wood. the V2 isnt as low launch as what people think. the V2 just might suit you better, my bad shot is a snap hook, i have never snap hooked the V2 but have with the proto
  17. i do it, with both cord and non cord grips. it just gets rid of the outside layer of the grip which gets a bit hard or loses its tackiness, then you do the warm dishwashing water.
  18. yep, titleist 980f 17deg, perfect length to land softly on the green for the 220yd par 3 at my course. slightly shorter shaft than 3w, higher loft, easier to hit, more confident hitting it than 3w
  19. the callaway tour only ft-9 has a hosel and only has the centre web on the club head, no heal web. they look like and enlarged version of the ft hybrids, you would have to assume they are fake.... unless they are yet to be released clubs, but the chances of that are pretty slim
  20. thanks for the PR spin
  21. has anyone used these? they cost half as much as the golf pride grips they are imitating, are they half price for a reason
  22. if you really want to lose distance buy the ft-iq, ive got an ft-5 and it doesnt go as far as my old cleveland launcher comp, but the ft-5 is a whole lot straighter
  23. thanks for that, you hear lots of people ragging on water activated tape, drying time doesnt concern me, ill give it a go on my practice clubs and see how it goes
  24. thinking of giving the water activated grip tape a try, but one thing has me thinking, if water is used to activate the tape, does it reactivate if the grips get wet? when i put soapy water on my grips to help with tackiness will that go through and mess up the grip tape, or when its pouring rain? i know for solvent activated tape you can use solvent to remove and save the grip, so...... you'd think the same applies for water activated grips.... right? little help
  25. does anyone know if car gps units like tomtom have software you can buy that turns them into a golf gps. iphones have apps for golf course gps, i've got a tomtom and would love to use it as a golf gps rather than buy a golf specific one. thanks
