  1. You really make some GREAT points. I have seen some low cappers that I play with kinda look down upon a guy if he's a really high cap. I have told them to try and remember what it was like when they started. I also have played with a guy at my club who is a 5 handicap and spends way too long on his pre-shot routine...annoying.
  2. LOL! This argument is usually started by a "non" golfer SHO SAYS.. "I can throw the ball further than I can hit the damn thing!" There is no way he can do it. Think about it, could you stand at one end of a football field and throw a small golf ball the length of two fields??? Answer is: NO WAY
  3. If you could shoot between 80-84, then you wouldnt be a 22 Handicap. I have played with 22 cappers and they shoot nowhere near those numbers. Im not saying you can't have a career round and play well, but for you to shoot an 80 or 84 would be difficult. Dont get me wrong, I still feel I could beat a 22 handicapper most of the time even with giving them all those strokes. I think the handicap systems is a joke some times. Aat my club we play 80% of handicaps.
  4. You hit the nail on the head for me. I dont like playing against people where I have to give them 14 strokes...it's just silly. I shouldnt be competeing with golfers at that level and I know they dont really want to play against me either...
  5. Try waiting on the green while someone is hitting their 8th shot...
  6. I dont want to offend anyone so I adjusted the Title...thanks for pointing it out to me!
  7. Yeah, true, but when he's shooting high numbers and im not that doesnt help either...
  8. Because of my cap I get invited to play in a lot scrambles by non-golfers who think I should birdie every hole...lol I always come up with an excuse not to.. I HATE SCRAMBLES!!
  9. Yeah, you make a good point. When I was a 20+ I wanted to play with golfers in my cap range. I felt intimidated to play with really low caps. Now, I like to play with guys in my range.
  10. they can drag you down sometimes? I had to stop playing with a guy who is a "hollywood" handicapper with a 20 handicap. He should really be higher... Here are the reasons... 1) You can't "talk" to his ball. If he putts and it's close to going in, you can't say "get in" because he thinks if you talk to it, it wont go in... 2) If he plays poorly, he takes it out on everyone else... 3) Finally, it's hard to shoot in the 70's and keep focused when hes shooting in the high 90's or 100's
  11. Won $6,000 for a hole in one in 1999. Played a $100.00 nasua with $50 dots and ended up winning $800 that day a year ago.
  12. Who cares about his driving average, he shot a fricken 65!!!
  13. I honestly believe there are two kinds of golfers in the world, "Hacks and Tour players..." I know, I know...if you're a +1 or scratch or even a 9 handicap you're not a hack. The reference is just to point how much of a huge, HUGE gap there is between them and everyone else... These guys play course swhere they have to work the bal off the tee and put it in certian spots to be able to attack certian pins. Fred Funk hits almost every fairway, but he is a lot shorter and that hurts him on a lot of courses...
  14. I just posted my 71st round of 2009 and I live in Massachusetts. I did go on a Myrtle Beach and Florida which totaled about 20 rounds,. So I have 51 since April 1st. No such thing as "too" much golf...
  15. Wwow, nice job!! You can get back to a 15 and lower...chipping and putting,
  16. I thought so too, but when you start playing it really isnt....you adjust one guy on each team to keep track of the dots.
  17. My vote for Nickent 4dx!
  18. I play with a lot of sick golfaholic gamblers, but it's a lot of fun. We play this game called the full dot package where prett much almost every part of the hole your playing has potential "$$" to be mad or lost. We usually play $10.00 nassua (front, back and total) and $2.00 a dot and then the back nine everything thing gets doubled if the teams agree. It's 2 man teams. Let me know what you think? Below are the dots and explanantion. THE FULL DOT PACKAGE Hogan: Fairway Hit, green in regulation, par of better - 2 dots Signature: Closest to the hole, par or better - 1 dot Greenie: Closest to the hole on par threes - 1 dot Birdie: 2 dots, if two are made by the same team on the same hole, total 6 dots Eagle: 4 dots, if two are made by the same team on the same hole, 12 dots Eagle birdie combination on the same hole: 2 dots for the bird, 4 dots for the eagle, 3 dots extra for a total of 9 dots. Hole in one: 100 dots (NEEDS TO BE AGREED TO BY BOTH TEAMS BEFORE TEEING OFF OF 2- VERY IMPORTANT) Grand Greenie: all 4 greenies - 4 dots Gorilla: Closest to on par fives - 1 dot Grand Gorilla: all 4 gorillas - 4 dots Grand Shabaz: all greenies and gorrillas, additional 8 dots Grand Hogan: All 7 hogans on one side, 7 additional dots. If all 14 are achieved, 7 dots for the back plus an additional 14 dots Stein: Called up and down - 1 dot - odds can be given or requested. Auto Stein: If you use a putter off the green like on the fringe instead of using a different club Three putt: 1 dot for the other team, reverses hogan if applicable (except on par 5's hit in two), reverses signature (except on par 5's hit in two), reverses greenie, reverses gorilla (unless green is hit in two) Sandy: Up and down for par or better - 2 dots, not up and down for par or better - 1 dot Seve: par or better from a hazard or out of bounds - 1 dot Hackey: Triple bogey or more, 1 dot for the other team. Hack Trick: Three hackeys by the same team in the same round, 1 additional dot for the 3rd hackey, 2 additional dots for the 4th hack, 4 additional dots for the 5th hack, 8 dots, 16 dots.... Cart path on 5: 2 dots if par or better, cannot be reversed by three putts Appearance: 1 dot, team that wins the prior hole needs to achieve par or better on the next hole. If so they earn a dot, if not it is a reverse appearance and the other team earns the dot. You can lose a hole and earn the appearance (say the other team birdies or pars with a stroke). You can win a hole and lose an appearance (say you win a hole with a bogey). The appearance cannot be won with a net par. Optional Dots: Birdie Bonus: Sometimes we play an additional 5 dots for birdies on 8 and 16 (or other holes). Can be dangerous, because the original 2 dots for birdies are still alive, and 2 birdies pays three on these bonuses.
  19. Thanks, you made my point!! No offense to anyone who has dropped their caps from 30's to 20's or 15 to 10...etc, but going from a 4 to a 1 or an 8 to a 4 is WAY, WAY HARDER! I noticed at my club most people (inculding myself) have hit a wall at some point and stay there for years...I was an 8 for 4 years.
  20. Hello, I know from experience that it was easier to go from say an 18 to a 14 than it was to go from a 14 to a 10, but it's really, really hard to go from a 10 to a 5 or lower... After about 5 years of playing between a 7-10 my handicap has dropped down to the lowest it's ever been, a 4.2 and trending to a 3 in the next revision. I shot a 71 (-1 par) last week on a course with 139 slope and 72.5 course. Ive also had two rounds of even par 72 this year. Also had a hole-in-one! Dont get me wrong, Im really happy, but I always thought that I would slowly lower my handicap year after year and not drop 4 strokes in 1/2 a season... Any other single digit cappers ever have a big drop in their cap?
