Looking into a Golf Membership - Have Some Questions

I would say its worth it. But thats strictly from the outside looking in. I've played a few country clubs as a guest and I just have to say thats its a pretty amazing experience. You get what you pay for. -
haha! It's Friday somewhere! Japan maybe

Oh, I meant about getting the lie and loft fitted to my swing. That's what I meant by fitting. Oops! And also I believe they have dynamic fittings which do require you to swing the club.

UPS is 0-2 in my book, and if I have any control over my shipping choices in the future, I am going to take my business elsewhere. My first package, Callaway X-22's off of eBay, took nearly two weeks to reach cross country. It was originally schedule to take a little over a week, maybe about 8 or 9 days, but then for no reason it got pushed back another 4 or 5 days! But overall, that wasn't too bad. I figured it was just an isolated incident, and it didn't really put my off to UPS. Now, the second time i'm on the receiving end of a UPS package, my Scotty Cameron putter that I have been eagerly awaiting for a week (and very excited for my round I have later today)thanks to a scheduled delivery date of 8/13 (today). I've found out that basically either UPS lost my package OR that it has been sitting in Illinois for 5 days. And there is nothing I can do about it! I've been tracking the package for the past week or so. It was shipped 8/06 from Indiana. It arrived at 8/08 in Illinois (yes, 1 state over in 2 days, good job UPS!). For the next three days I checked every day and just was confused wondering why there was not yet a departure scan from Illinois. I figured it was just regular shipping issues, and didn't think it was a big deal. By the 3rd day, I was starting to get nervous and hoping that UPS didn't royally mess up the shipment. On the 4th day without movement, I attempted to contact UPS and after fighting a stupid automated voice system for a while without figuring out how to reach an actual human being, (it's actually exceedingly simple I realized later, just hit 0, but the automated voice system never mentioned this option to me...) I just hung up in frustration. The 5th day (today) I called, fought with the automated system again until I finally got a hold of an actual human being (who did a fine job i'll add, not her fault that UPS couldn't do jack about my package). She was very nice and professional and told me that we would have to put a trace on the package to locate it. Oh, and by the way, the only person who can initiate a trace on the package is the SENDER. So I had to contact the person who sold me the putter, and gave him the phone number and tracking number and told him to please call and initiate the trace at his earliest possible inconvenience. All this had me wondering, if I hadn't bothered to check my tracking progress, would my package just have been lost forever? probably. So I advise all of you to take your business to USPS or FedEX instead. I know that for only a buck or two more than UPS' lousy ground shipping you can get USPS priority shipping, which I've had much more success with. I've had 2 successful deliveries with USPS, receiving two separate packages completely cross country (Maryland and New York I believe) in lightning fast time. One was about 3 days I think, and the other was 3 days (1 day drop off at the post office, 1 transit, 1 drop off at my doorstep), no issues at all with either!

Maybe go get them fitted? I'm considering doing this to my X-22's, but I'm not sure. I'm taking lessons now and I kind of want to wait until i've grooved a real consistent swing before I go get them fitted.

It's Friday! lets see 'em :) Edit: Oops, no it isn't!

Congrats man :) Bought some Callaway X-22's on ebay myself, and I love them! I got 4-AW and an X-forged SW thrown in too sweeten the deal. You will love them too! Especially if you were like me and went from junk junior clubs, the difference is amazing! All I heard was equipment doesn't matter and its the Indian not the arrow, well let me just say that probably for the most part it is the Indian, but seriously the iron upgrade was great! You won't regret it! I didn't call Callaway to confirm that they were legit, but I registered on their website and it took my serial number off the 8-iron alright. So does that confirm it or should I call them? Out of curiosity, how much did you pay? Did you get steel or graphite?

Maybe play the 72 holes on 4 different courses to kind of distinguish it from a normal tournament.

I think about the only thing that would help would be some Aleve.

I agree 100% with the above posts. They said it pretty well. The amateur idea went out the door long ago. The olympics are now about seeing the best of the best compete.

Well I am excited! I think that it will be awesome. Trust me it won't be just another tournament, its the OLYMPICS!!! Your not playing for a trophy your playing for a gold medal!

Lengthening and Regripping a Putter
Knockglock replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ah that is sooo tempting! My biggest issue with my putter currently (a junior set putter P.O.S., the Scotty in my signature is on its way) is how unbelievable light it is. Makes hitting any longer putts extremely difficult! What exactly is back weighting it? Could I just do one or the other to save some cash? What about lead tape? -
I agree with that. I own an x-forged 56* SW and like it a lot, and I recently picked up a 60* LW that is on its way. Never hit the vokeys though so i'm not sure how they compare.

I'm very interested in the answer to this question as well!

Do calyces tell a story about grip or swing...?
Knockglock replied to paddlefoot's topic in Golf Talk
Are you left or right handed? You should buy Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons" book. I got mine for about $2 and $3 for shipping so like $5 from Amazon used paperback, and it shows the proper location of calluses. -
Shaping shots, trajectory control, etc...
Knockglock replied to Titleist Man's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Does the first aid tape just help make blisters less painful and more manageable or what? Thanks for the tips, I'm going to try that medical tape and also decreasing my grip pressure. -

How are you able to spend hours at the range each day without your hands getting shredded up? Everytime I try and have a long range session I get a blister in the same spot and it usually ends up getting cut open. -
How hard is it to put a new shaft in? How much did labor cost and the shaft? Is there a risk of damaging the club? Did you sell your old shaft? If so for how much? Thanks!

Do Pro V Practice Balls matter?
Knockglock replied to Termduke's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I bought 2 dozen of the lowest quality prov1's (2007 kind) on that site, and have been using them to practice and to play rounds (since i'm not really that good yet I don't think the little scratches have affected me too much). They were actually much cheaper, including shipping, than the extremely cheap top flite's I had been buying at Target (top flight straight distance ones) $8 a dozen (including shipping, but if you buy a larger quantity I think shipping starts to get a little bit less per dozen) vs. $10 or 12 a dozen. Basically all the balls had a solid scuff on them, like you would get from a cart path or wedge shot, but other than that they weren't too bad for the most part. Some were bad and some were better than that, I actually got a few that weren't bad quality at all! I have to say that they weren't that bad. It was exciting playing a quality ball like the Prov1, and I was actually able to get backspin on occasion, and can get them to check quite well compared to the old rock hard top flites I was playing. Sure they're not in the greatest condition, and if I was in a tournament or gambling scenario I probably wouldn't play them. But its nice to have the convenience of a good ball without having to worry about losing one in the brush or in the water. -
Ordered irons from local country club
Knockglock replied to EZ Swinger's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Haha, I know how you feel man! don't get your hopes up though, shipping is sooooooooo slow (or so it feels). I've found that UPS sucks, and if it was shipped UPS you're looking at a while, I'd say closer to the 2 week side of the spectrum. I've only had things sent to me with UPS twice, and BOTH times they were rescheduled and pushed back 3 or 4 extra days. I actually have somethign coming now, and i've been tracking it and the last update was 4 days ago it had an arrival scan in Indiana, but no departure scan or anything since then. It's actually supposed to come tomorrow, but if it's still sitting in Indiana I don't see how that's possible! Anyone have any idea? Maybe they just forgot to departure scan it? I've had much better luck with USPS shipping, which has gotten it to me very quickly! I was impressed :) Too bad I can't figure out how to track packages on their site though. If they shipped with USPS priority then your probably looking at the quicker end of the spectrum, maybe about a week. USPS seems to be a lot better. I don't get why people use UPS. For 10 bucks you can get UPS ground shipping, or for roughly the same price (I think an extra dollar or two) you can get USPS priority shipping, which gets it there nice and fast! -
What about if the blister split open? Any tips/advice? I had one on my index finger of my glove hand and it got split open. This is the second time i've had this happen in the same spot lol. I used a nail clipper to cut away the dead skin and just band aided it. Was hoping to get a lot of practice in the next few days, I hope it won't be too bad. I'll take the advice posted earlier and put some medical tape on it. Hopefully it'll callous over nice and good so I won't have to deal with this anymore.

I'd throw Callaway x-forged wedges in there as well. Check out: http://www.golfdigest.com/equipment/...?currentPage=1 -
Things you wish you would have known when you started
Knockglock replied to TMO's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This is a great one! I really wish someone had told me about this when I was just starting. It seems so obvious but for some reason I didn't figure it out until I read all about the details of it online. -
Difference between range balls and game balls?
Knockglock replied to Chilidipper's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I've heard its anywhere from 10%-20% further with a quality ball as opposed to a range ball. Not sure about the validity of this but that's what i've been told a couple of times from both teaching pros and other golfers.
