  1. thanks for the sobering tip. any thoughts on the swing/ head dip in question?
  2. yes, but tiger does have a very big dip now - bigger than mine anyway. which is not to say that both arent flaws.
  3. Yes, but it does not go forward, and nor does it move the swing arc forward. That said, should i be concerned with the amount of dip I do have? Obviously, no good swing has a totally rigid head - easily proven to yourself by watching vids of the greats. Do I have too much head movement? Its a full swing for me.
  4. I can't see that either. I put my mouse cursor over my head, and to my eye my head is fairly still. One of the few good things that can be said about my swing.
  5. thanks for the tips. i suppose the narrow stance isnt causing me much trouble cause i am not swinging as hard as i should be...
  6. Hi, Below is a video of my swing. As you can see, it is a rather short swing - pretty much every swing I make is 3/4 swing. That said, the eight iron i am hitting flies about 145. Not the longest, but a playable yardage. It looks to me that in the down to line shot i am coming over the top ever so slightly. How big a problem is that? My missess with my mid and short irons tend to an overly flat ball flight. With my woods, I often produce a shot that is much too low, and occasionally a dead push. Thoughts anyone?
  7. that would indicate to me a reason someone is a high handicapper, not a reason to not follow good advice :)
  8. Really? We all have some shape to the flight of our shots, and if someone can exaggerate that shape with nothing more than a small setup change, shouldn't they do so - for the sheer predictability? A pro rarely hits a straight shot.
  9. thanks for the advice everyone. i have been working pretty hard on tempo and keeping a steady head, and judging by the video, my head seems very steady and my tempo decent enough. glad to know i can find serious improvement through some setup adjustments.
  10. do you mean i am too upright or that my head isnt far enough behind the ball?
  11. Hi All, I have new video of me at the range. Full speed video followed by half speed video of me swinging three clubs. My misses tend to be a very low shot or a bad push with clubs longer than my 7 iron. Any advice appreciated.
  12. alrighty...if you insist i be more specific: a tool, solely powered by the human body, consisting of no moving parts, designed to propel a ball forward from a position at rest.
  13. i also said you couldnt touch the ball....
  14. If I parked my car at a range, and in advance took note there was some chance an errant shot could hit my car, I certainly wouldn't insist the person responsible was anyone but *me* if my car got damaged. I either wouldn't park there, or accept the risk.
  15. i don't have much sympathy for expensive clubs, private or otherwise. golf suffers from a reputation for being exclusionary, and $100 green fees and $5000 memberships don't help with that reputation. if you sneak onto reasonably priced munis, i think that makes you a bit of a jerk. if you are playing a few holes at shinnecock (or whatevs) all the power to you. they can afford it.
  16. how much regulation do you think is going into limiting forgiveness?
  17. ill concede the 600 c.c driver. but a golf ball launcher?
  18. if there were zero restrictions on golf club construction (let's assume golf balls are regulated as they are now) how much easier could the game of golf be made? significantly? not much? is the golf club the ideal tool for getting a golf ball to a green (assuming lifting a ball is not allowed)?
  19. i swing kind of slow with my driver yeah... my miss tends to be low or a bad push. i dont suffer from a slice or a hook. i hit 7 iron - SW quite straight and with a fair degree of consistency...but the longer clubs give me a lot of trouble. i rarely play anything longer than my 5 wood of the tee, and leave my 4 iron at home.
  20. thanks for the advice. it confirms something i noticed myself about my downswing. this video of fred couples (important part starts 30 secs in) is a wonderful example of what you are talking about.
  21. i am sure this varies from city to city (i live in halifax, nova scotia) but does anyone have any advice on finding a field one could hit balls in? just to bat around, and work on a swing. $10 a session at the range plus green fees and extras get's expensive fast.
  22. Hi there, I am very new to the forums. I am looking for knowledgeable criticism of my golf swing. I took the video in my backyard, without a ball. Shown is from the rear, and then side on, with slow motion and real time versions of both swings. Thanks for your time. Robin
  23. comparing athelets of different eras is close to meaningless. so many different factors are at play. all one can do is attempt to judge how far ahead the top player was or is from his contemporaries. both tiger and jack were miles ahead.
  24. Here is my home course. Its a par 60 - a great place to introduce new golfers, and work on your iron play. http://www.indianlakegolfcourse.ca/
  25. Hi, I am a magazine writer looking to get my post count up!
