  1. Yes because all of us "ignorant American idiots" blindly support everything happening in this country. Come on man....this topic is wildly political and not going down that path here, but suffice it to say that there are tons of Americans that are NOT ok with certain things going on here. Hence all the protests about things that were specifically mentioned in that article.....
  2. Thanks now all i can think about is barefoot guy walking on a specific portion of that green....
  3. I bet they've already signed contracts, if they're putting such a definitive number out there, they need to be certain it won't go down. As for letting guys back in, I personally don't want them back and neither should the Tour. I would accept a one time offer to buy their way back in for 100% of all the money they have earned from LIV...good will goes both ways right? The message that should be sent is that no one is above the rules, doesn't matter if you're second in the world or 200th, rules apply to everyone the same.
  4. At the end of the day, its likely this is not going to be my thing. I'll tune into the first one and see, its an extra day of golf on TV if nothing else. but I think the important thing is that its not taking away from the Tour. Its not taking players away, its not taking tournaments away, its just there as its own thing, so seems perfectly fine to let them have their fun and see what it turns into
  5. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy launch tech-infused golf league featuring virtual venues, prime-time matches Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are launching a tech-infused golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour that will have players competing on six three-man teams in 15 regular-season matches and a playoff starting in January...
  6. These are great changes. Addresses getting top players in the same tournaments more often while not taking away from the schedule or format of tournaments. Appropriately finances all players without taking away an incentive to perform well.
  7. Thats like fixing a broken arm with a band-aid. Doesn't touch the root of the problem, and doesn't really make anything better. Maybe it saves you a little time? But in exchange it would take away the ability to watch anything live, and you still only get to see such a small amount of the actual shots on the course. The coverage itself is what needs fixed
  8. like others have said....not really enough information, but the idea could range anywhere between "fine" and "awful" for me. If they want to set up something like a PGA All Star Game skills challenge outside of tour season, great. I'd probably tune in for a little bit and not really care what happens. If they want to take PGA Players to TopGolf and have some sort of competition outside the tour season, fine. I'd probably watch....once. As long as these are supplemental to the PGA Tour season, I don't care much either way. But I really don't want to see 1-day events of any sort popping up as official tour events.
  9. Well thank you! Unexpected compliment, but that makes me feel good. It helps that I also play with the very type of guy I described occasionally. He's fairly new to golf, doesn't hit things very far, and they don't always get very high. Every now and then he'll hit that good looking shot and land on the green, and when he does he's pretty stoked about his success and not thinking about things like ball marks. I've fixed his before and let him have his moment, and figure as he improves and those become more common, he'll start having the awareness of them himself.
  10. I wouldn't think this would be a thing...in general I think there are just a lot of oblivious people out on the course. Especially on public courses. There are an awful lot of people that play that so very rarely hit greens that when they do, they just don't think about looking for their ball mark when they do. Or they'll hit the green and it'll bound through and off the back, so the fact that their ball isn't on the green, they're not looking for ball marks. Bunkers should be more obvious, but i think there is a similar idea that people will rake their shot, but not their footprints walking back out, just kind of oblivious. There definitely has been an influx of new golfers recently as well, so I wouldn't necessarily assume any bad etiquette is intentional, it just may be etiquette habits haven't developed yet because their skill level hasn't allowed frequent scenarios to use it.
  11. This was my immediate thought. Ignoring the money, the format of the LIV tournaments suck. I will likely be tuning out if thats also what the PGA Tour turns into
  12. Guess who plays lots of afternoon golf for discounted rates? 🤚 All the math on pricing i remember basically took that into account I guess. I have heard good things about RTJ as well. You can always throw a dart at the cheaper courses in the area for a morning round, and jump on those discounted rates at the elite courses for the second 18 of the day. This also is true. I want to say I paid under $70 for afternoon rounds everywhere I've played down there before.....and thats the cheapest I could find in Hilton Head. I rarely pay over $50 for most of my rounds in Michigan Either way, you're in for a great trip. The "cheap" courses are still great to play, and a couple top tier courses mixed in would be a perfect week of golf. Makes me want to get back down there for a full island golf tour sometime soon
  13. I started to post this in the US Amateur thread, but don't want to derail that discussion with LIV....but I was absolutely shocked to see David Puig in there after competing in multiple LIV events. Turns out, he has not accepted any prize money or contract money from LIV in order to keep his amateur status. Makes for an interesting case, since by playing in those tournaments, he forfeit his chance to join Korn Ferry or another PGA Tour Umbrella tour through NCAA standings. But he's not accepting money from LIV, presumably to return to school for his senior year, so he doesn't have income or a long term future with LIV either.
  14. Gotcha, in that case I think you're on point with Atlantic Dunes at the top of your list. I think it's still true you can basically play both Atlantic Dunes and Heron Point for the same price as Harbour Town. You're paying a premium to play where the pros play, but all three are at the top of most lists for the island. I've generally looked for more budget friendly options on my visits, a lot of the golf there is pricey, and I haven't gone specifically for golf....more abandon the family on the beach to get some golf in one day during our trip....but it does say something that the cheaper options on the island are still great experiences. And the gators...I expect are well known. But it's definitely a different experience than my golf in Michigan. If you look for them you'll find them, and I spent more than one shot feel a little uncomfortable knowing they were lurking nearby in the water....
  15. I can't travel in January, but I do have some experience in Hilton Head. My parents own a house on the island, so I've had a handful of trips down there, played a few courses and in terms of quality I haven't run into a bad course on the island and would happily play any of them again. Its been a few years since I was last there, before COVID, but assume they're still in pretty good shape. I played Bear Creek which you found, and played Palmetto Hall. Would recommend either one, but I'm not sure how they compare to all the others on the island. There are a lot of them, and as you mentioned there isn't necessarily anything that makes them stand out, but they were in great shape when I was there and made for some enjoyable golf. I've also heard good things about Harbour Town 🙂, honestly I've heard people say that the other Sea Pines courses are even better - Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes - for half the price. But I have not played any of them, so its possible those people just like to be contrarian, but I'd also be pretty confident thinking any of those courses would be a quality experience. Might even get a more reasonable price in January. As for restaurants, there is only one place I've eaten every single time I've been in Hilton Head, and would recommend Hudsons on the Docks for seafood. Although that said we usually go in the spring and sit outside on the water which is part of the appeal, not sure how that would feel in January, but they do have seats inside. Final word of advice - watch out for the gators. They're all over the place on the golf courses.
  16. They posted this afterwards, although it should be noted that playing a normal chip shot should be obviously not the swing if its going to be attempted for real
  17. I have no issue with how it was handled, and I think more importantly, Cam Smith himself had no issue with how it was handled. The amount of outrage on social media over this instance is ridiculous, a bunch of people want to make it into something more than it is. Conspiracy theorists can have their fun, everyone else can just move on
  18. Commentators made a comment afterwards along the lines of "what he is feeling now is worth so much more than any amount of guaranteed money." Was surprised they even made the LIV reference and kinda wish they just wouldn't even acknowledge it. But at the same time, they're completely right.
  19. Oh man, I would LOVE for one of those guys to say that under oath. But at the end of the day, not one of those guys in that lawsuit said they were leaving for money. They were leaving for a "better schedule", to "spend more time with their families", or "to grow the game of golf." They were also aware that LIV was an international organization, the LIV website literally calls themself an "International Golf Series." They were aware of the format at the time they joined, they were aware of the schedule. They were also made very aware of what the penalty would be from the PGA Tour if they joined. They had all of that information in advance, and made a choice. Now to come back and say that? Understand you're playing devils advocate, but that argument coming from these professionals should have no legs to stand on in a legal setting.

    NFL 2022-23 Season

Defense is going to be the big question mark. I love Aiden Hutchinson, hope he can adjust to the NFL quickly, but I'm not concerned about him getting there. Maybe a healthy Jeff Okudah helps the DB group, jury is still out on him since he hasn't been able to stay healthy since he was drafted. Offense is exciting though. Jared Goff may not be the long term answer, but I also try not to forget he's been to a Super Bowl. He's a very accurate passer. He developed a good rapport with St. Brown by the end of last season, and when Jameson Williams gets healthy there will be some legit weapons. And in the long term, Lions are building a good foundation, and they may be able to simply slide in the answer at quarterback in the future. I'm biased, but also optimistic. Hard Knocks made it really easy to get excited for the season.

    NFL 2022-23 Season

Anyone watch Hard Knocks? Detroit Lions are the team followed for training camp and the preseason, which I absolutely love to see. I'm not expecting them to take a Bengals like jump to the Super Bowl this season, but I love Dan Campbell's passion and intensity, and I can't wait to see what he gets from those guys this season.
  22. One of LIV's lawyers stated during the lawsuit that prize money is recouped against their sign on bonus. LIV later came out and said it was "in addition to." I dont think there is a clear and obvious answer, theyre stating both and clearly want everyone to believe its additional...but the below article provides a little info on it A statement by a LIV Golf lawyer raised questions about LIV’s prize money | Golf News and Tour Information | Golf Digest One of LIV Golf’s lawyers at Tuesday’s temporary restraining order hearing may have accidentally revealed that...
  23. It literally can't be a monopoly if there is a competing business actively running, which is the only reason this conversation is happening. It doesn't matter what it took to set the competing business up (was the PGA Tour just supposed to be less successful before to allow easier entry to the market for competition?), the fact that a competing entity is actively operating means there is no monopoly. And the "direct action" you're referring to is not taking away any player's choice, so how is it limiting competition? Every single player can make the choice of which place they want to play. There is no obligation for both to be an option, but the PGA Tour has done nothing at all to eliminate a player's choice to go to LIV. That is the essence of competition, pick one or the other. Its not limited, its there in full force. Just because they can't do both does not mean there is an obstacle to get to LIV
  24. Counterpoint - the PGA Tour does not have a monopoly. The current existence of LIV should prove that, they did not prevent a competitor from entering the market, and they're not preventing them from operating. The PGA Tour is not preventing players from joining LIV. All they have said is if you join, you can't play here. They have given every player a choice, and every player can make their own choice about where they want to play. From a power standpoint, LIV may actually have more power from a business perspective considering their financial power. Considering antitrust is business law, financial power should be a pretty significant tool for measurement. They're certainly not hamstringing LIV. LIV has the financial backing to pretty much make that impossible, and have proven so by signing numerous guys from the PGA Tour, including world #2 Cam Smith. Those aren't actions a hamstrung organization can take, and once again all players have a choice of where to play. What it really sounds like is you wish the PGA Tour would allow players to play in both places, but refusal to help a competitor is in no way a violation of antitrust law.
