Skulled almost every approach! Help!
kleraudio replied to kleraudio's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Well I'm getting worse weekly. Shot a 97 yesterday. I'm about to give up. Haven't shit that high in 10 years. Not sure how many lessons id have to take to fix all these problems I'm having lately. Even my drives went haywire starting on 15. Hitting em really high about 180 yards. So frustrating. -

Well I am in CO where the ball flies a mile. Trust me it's not my mechanics! Erik, I could of sworn it was middle stance every time... I'll have to make sure of it on Saturday when I play. Where do you recommend a sw ball position? Oh and none of my approaches took divots yesterday either. It was weird. Still came into the greens nice with the 7 and 8i but no divot. More of a sweeping swing yesterday. Too much body turn? I 'think' I was turning as much as I do with my driver using my irons. Like I said I hit those really well but no removal of earth yesterday. I tell ya. 5 possible nice looks at birdie turned into doubles cuz of those skulls. It's haunting. It's time for a lesson me thinks. -

It's a partial swing with my 54 vokey. Definitely not the norm. I'm not within 5 feet everytime or anything but 99 percent of the time I'm on the green from that distance. I also duffed 2 chip shots. I'm pretty worried. -
So I was hitting really well today except for my approaches. Skulled 5 over the green today. Only played 9. What the hell is going on? Two of th shots were a mere 90 yards to the flag. Any suggestions? Striping drives. Striping the 7 and 8i approaches. But 92 yards? Skull over the green. Every. Time.

Taylormade Project (a) Golf Balls
kleraudio replied to Fozcycle's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Why would they tell you that on the phone? I'm really hoping that's false as it is my go to ball. Stops extremely quickly on approaches for me and the price is definitely right. Plus I got an Ace with one a few weeks back! -
So I've played 2 rounds with my Tour v3 and absolutely LOVE it. Super fast at acquiring pins and I've shaved strokes off my final score. Pin high so many times. 4 looks at birdie yesterday. (most I've ever had!) This thing is paying for itself! :)

Shot an 88 today. Amazingly as I sucked. Need to figure out the iron game. It either shoes up or it doesn't. Today it didn't. Doesn't help that I have a new swing every weekend.

I've never played Indian peaks. Only the range. How recently have you played co national?

Don't bother with it. Get your free range balls and enjoy. The range isn't even cut half the time, it's more like the second cut of rough. You wanna talk about ball marks on the greens, there are no less than 100 ball marks on EVERY green there. There is no such thing as putting at CO National. No one repairs their marks, and the groundskeepers sure as hell don't do it. Those greens are like a mine field. They need new ownership. Or maybe they don't. The place is packed to the brim every weekend, why change anything? People don't care enough about the game to stop going there. If they stopped, maybe something would change. Just head to golfnow.com and read the reviews on CO National. I'm not the only one that feels this way. Oh and if you want to practice bunker shots on the practice range, you have to be a member. If you're not, one of the douche bag kids that works the pro shop will call you out. They don't give a flying F$# @ about your pres ence, UNTIL you try to hit a bunker shot. Never again at that place.... I drive 20 minutes to Indian peaks range instead of walking to CO national . Super friendly staff, nice facility, and hit all the bunker shots you want.

Bubba Watson -3 Dustin Johnson -2 Sergio Garcia -2 I may have wasted a pick, not sure, but 3 pages to keep track of is too much for my mind!! BUBBA FOR THE WIN!!

CO national is an absolute joke. I live right next to it and was so excited when I moved to CO to have a course so close. If you're into 6.5 hour rounds, zero marshals, dicks at the pro shop, overpriced beer, and overall just negative attitude from all employees, then CO national is your place! I gave them 12 tries. YES, 12! each and every time the people that worked there didn't give two craps about you and the quickest round I ever played there was 5 hours. Longest was 6.5. I'll never play there again.

It was an uncomfortable round last weekend...........

Or do like me. Get the first tee time of the day :) -
I walk most of the time. Only way to play. It's cheaper too. I walk even if the rest of the guys I'm paired with are riding.

When i had a pickup I just threw em in the back and went. never a single problem. My bed was rhino lined though, I'm sure that helped a lot!

Listen, There are unspoken "rules" in golf. One of them being you better play damn quick if you have a Sunday 7am tee time. If you're a hack thats fine. Play in the afternoon. Mailman keeps saying be happy you have the cash and time to play golf. Fine, you can be happy at noon if you're gonna shoot a 110 and read every putt for 2 minutes. I like playing with guys that shoot 110, they're usually a damn cool bunch, BUT NOT AT 7AM. I book the 7am tee times so I can be off the course before 11 and have the rest of the day. I'd be pretty pissed at a 5 hour round at 7am.... seriously. When I want to finish early, I ALWAYS book the first tee time so I never have to experience that. Sure it's cold and kind of wet, but its worth it to be done in 3 hours. Hell I've done 18 in 2.5 hours with a threesome in FL. 2.5 hours and I think i shot an 88, so I'm not a 'player' by any means! -
When is this airing? Will it be live?
-
Man that would be sweet but I get the paper and have never seen that! I'll have to investigate this weekend and see whats coming up. Net stroke play would be my preferred way to play. But I'm open to anything that isn't a team tournament (for now). Thanks!

Can't stop casting!! Please help!
kleraudio replied to kleraudio's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
That is exactly right @mvmac ! I wasn't turning enough on the takeaway and got VERY "armsy". I focused on turning through the takeaway and really transferring my weight and whatya know? Back to bombing 8 irons :) What a great forum!! :) -
Thanks David. I did look into those amateur tours but 200 for a yearly membership is a bit steep for me. I'll have to check out the public courses websites around here and see if they've got any events running.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
kleraudio replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Yea that's STEEP for a dozen balls. Have you looked into the Taylormade Project (a). If not, read up on them. I bought a dozen. First time out with them I got an ace. Great ball. It's long off the tee and behaves really well on approaches. I've even skulled 6 irons into greens and they checked up!! My old ball would been loooooong gone after hitting the dance floor. This one stopped at the back side fringe :)
