  1. I've had more of a problem with them falling out as opposed to wearing out. Lately I've been more in tune to feeling it the instant a spike comes out and I can just put it right back in. And I've also found a few extra on the course for when the inevitable event happens
  2. I'm at $825 for single/year to walk..here's where it got sweet for me..I added my girlfriend for another $125 and that's unlimited...cart for the year for a couple is $575...but here in northern Indiana we're probably doing well to golf 7 months out of the year. This is a public course with a 175yd practice range BYOB(alls!) putting green and a separate chipping green w/bunker. No minimum food/drink but the food is good, grill style. And nice people. Course is decent. Good fairways and greens (which is what's important to me) but the other areas could use some work..but overall I think it's a great deal. I know I paid in advance...but, it feels pretty good to play a round with my buds...then have my girlfriend come down and play...ride for 27-36 holes and not have to go to the hip even once.
  3. absolutely do not work for TM. I was mainly looking for feedback from others who may have recently purchased these irons and have been re-dialing their distances in as well. I've had a lot of different irons since I started playing. Bought my first TM club last year...Burner 10.5 draw driver...liked it..so I bought a used 4H and liked it alot. 3, and 5 hybrids came soon after...that's where the burner irons came into consideration... demo'd then a couple of times, then when I had my fitting with the adjustable 6i...my swing clicked. Like the above poster...I'm not carrying the 4i...went 5-AW with my hybrids and new fairway woods and I think I have all the distances covered. Hopefully playing twice this weekend and will see what happens. Need to learn how to putt better
  4. After one round and 3 trips to the range...I'm still dialing the distances in. I'd say I have about average power for my hcap and hit the 7i about 180. My worst results this past weekend were on the shorter irons and overestimating their carry. I'd initially figured whatever I hit my old PingEye2 reds...club down 2 and go from there. Worked ok on the longer irons but that formula got less accurate with the 8 iron and inside. I think I'm liking the way the clubs are closer together on the shorter irons. The way I like to manage the course is by hitting approach shots between 100-160 yds anyway. It's a bit of a pain to re-learn distances but I'm hitting these irons very pure and it's going to be worth it.
  5. oh...never answered the question about pricing...$699. I'm certain I could have found a lower price scouring the web...but I'm a little concerned with the counterfeit situation and I was really comfortable with the dealer I purchased from. Also included with the purchase was my fitting which I have no doubt help considerably.
  6. I'm going to a Driver, 3W, 5W, 3H, 5H setup. Gave up the 3 and 4 iron...but the 5H really covers the 3i. I think the 5W and 3H are going to be really close distance wise...but I know the hybrids will hit real well from the rough.
  7. I played my first round with them today. Great investment in my game. I hit 9 greens and shot 81 which was my best round ever on my home course. My previous best was 86. My course management was easier as I had a couple of tough tee shots made easier by being able to use an easier to hit iron than previously. I also did really well with my new 9.5 burner, 3W and 5W...which I replaced Reg flex clubs for stiff. If I could putt, I would have easily shot a mid 70. I didn't putt terribly..doing better with my biggest problem of leaving putts short, but didn't make any of about 5, less than 15' birdie putts. 3 putted twice with a sand save. Still a little tentative RE club selection...but as soon as I have that dialed in....79 here I come.
  8. the thing I love about the instruction there is when they show some of the amateurs/celebrities playing a round with a pro...it shows a really good contrast between their swing and the pro's they're playing with. Makes it easier for me to see a game a little closer to mine than simply watching pros play.
  9. that could be the case...but when I've hit them so far...they don't seem to have any lower trajectory..actually the ball flight seems a little higher.
  10. I got mine this week. They are long. Way long. Previously I hit my 9 about 120-125yds. With the burner it's 145-150. I was expecting about a one club length adjustment but this is almost 2 clubs. Changed over from old PingEye 2. I've also switched from regular to stiff shafts so I'm certain that has something to do with it as well. My biggest worry is 110 and in. The AW hits about 110 so I'll be playing more half and 3/4 power shots than I ever have before....and those are not my strength at all. I have a bad tendency to decelerate on those. We'll see...
  11. whether it's 52, 56, or 60...a higher than PW or AW is a must have for around the green. If I'm not on the green in reg..I'd almost rather be in the first cut as opposed to the fairway...because it is such a comfortable lie to hit from with my 60.
  12. oh yes...this is an awesome resource for tips/training videos
  13. I've done this before. You need a good sized piece of firm, grey foam about 1 to 1 1/2" thick. Trim it to fit the top of your bag. You can find the full length club tubes at most department stores. I think Dick's has them as well. Then mimic your favorite hole layout of a few bags that you see using the bottom of the tubes to score their outline for a circular cut for each of your clubs. I have an older Wilson staff bag that only had three large dividers and I did this and used it for years.
  14. Clubs are longest to shortest L-R. Woods up top. Irons longest to shortest L-R. wedges on bottom row and putter has it's own outer sleeve.
  15. Steel/irons/stiff Graphite/stiff driver, fairway and hybrids
  16. Last summer I bought a 10.5 460 draw and liked it, but it was no license to simply rip drives without minding proper swing fundamentals. As I'm trying to progress with shot shaping I found it difficult to hit a controllable draw with it. it's too easy to just plain pull the ball or hook it terribly. Switched to a 9.5 reg Burner yesterday and it was very comfortable and I'm confidant that as I work with it...I'll be able to work the ball with more control
  17. I got one of those too this past weekend. I like it so far...I'm making a changeover to stiff shafts from playing regular all my life (after a club fitting). It took a bit to get used to it, but after a while I did really well with it. Just have a driver and a 5W to buy now...and my hybrids (if I'm going to change those to stiff as well...) I'll probably get the 07 TM's again on those too.
  18. I got an Odyssey Sabertooth a couple of weeks ago and I like it. This was my first new putter too! It's taking a little adjusting from a 35" 2ball to this 34" Sabertooth but I'm getting there fast.
  19. Callaway "unbreakable" tees. I like them and have been using just two tees for the past month. Today I broke the 1" tee with a 5 iron. Back to using broken tees for iron tee boxes. The tip of these tees also cleans grooves really well.
  20. today I knocked down a putt from the rough on the 18th green. 2" rough, up hill, 20' with about a foot l-r break. Top-spinned it right up the hill and in the cup.
  21. Today on a par 3, I pulled my tee shot a little left of the green. On this particular hole to the right of the cart path... there is a thin strip of rough (3-4'), about 1.5' of fringe, then the green. My tee shot landed in the rough close enough to the cart path to interfere with my stance, so I took relief from the cart path. I pulled my driver, took my 2 club lengths no nearer the hole and was actually able to get to the fringe and putt instead of chip. Did I commit a foul? I'm really not sure. I'm reasonably certain you can't take relief on the putting surface itself, or extricate your ball from a hazard while taking relief...but this particular circumstance, I'm not sure on. Anybody have the ruling?
  22. well...I contacted Callaway today and in fact my serial number does trace to a shipment that went to Singapore in 2006. Out of warranty. He told me that they do not repair putter faces...they only replace them. And since mine was out of warranty...the best I could do was to have the "re-head" service for $120. He did also tell me that the fact that it was originally shipped to Singapore had nothing to do with it...
  23. wow...these look like the affordable irons de-jour. I was fitted and bought my set last Friday. This was my first fitting and after the rep set up for me...I think I see what the fuss is about. Comfort. Man it just felt like I could dig in to the ball and be aggressive and confidant...but didn't feel like I was over swinging. Maybe the first time my swing really felt grooved. Should have mine next week too. I'm a little worried about having to re-dial my distances though...probably a good problem to have.
