  1. For me it's Driver, 7 iron and putter. If I'm limited to two clubs, putter and 7 iron.
  2. Mine is side slopes. Up hill, down hill , distance (for an old fart) I'm OK. Side slopes are my problem!!!
  3. Iacas, thank you! I tried it, it worked, I like it.
  4. Eye tricks. I did a project where I turned over 200 balisters. I understand eye tricks probably better than anyone on this thread/site. I do layouts in the round - freehand that when measured are within a fraction of a mm. Drop the feet issue. Please! Each person has their strong and weak issue. I'm sorry. I may have gone over the top on that reply. I'm just looking for opinions from folks who have had the condition. I want to know their opinions.
  5. Difference strokes for different folks. After a 35 year break I started playing golf in the fall of '17. Winter came and then in March of this year I started back in. In 60 days I got in 52 rounds. I started in the 110+ range and returned home in the upper 80's. The place we stayed at had no driving range and only a very poor practice putting green. I feel that playing as opposed to the driving range can yeld better results for your long game. Short game is another story (although I wish they had a practice putting green with more complicated breaks). Also, I think rapid change comes to those who analyze their practice rather than just repeating the same bad habit over and over while expecting change. Example: I was having problems topping and trenching (thin/fat). Thinking of the swing I realized the bottom of my swing was under my left eye so I changed to ball placement under the left eye. That got me through until my hand eye coordination improved. Then I went back to differing the placement based on the shot. Finally, for significant improvement I believe that the more you play the better you get. No practice out there that I know of will improve your putting (reading breaks, judging speed, etc) as much as experience. I get 2 to 3 rounds and 1 practice session a week Just my 2¢.
  6. I guess what I was asking is; 1. Have any of you had this condition and if so were you pleased with the surgical outcome? 2. If you did/do have this condition, what part of your game had to change and what solution worked for the parts that had to change? As for my plumb-bob, the left eye is still up to the task and it is my solution to that part of my game that needed change. I'm still able to shoot 1.4 to 1.6 putts per hole even with out the use of my dominant eye so for now I will stay with what works best for me. But thanks for the suggestion - I'll read and consider all that are offered.
  7. Anyone have any experience with this? How has it impacted your game? Any workarounds? I can't plumb-bob my putts with my dominant eye any more. The putters shaft appears bent and everything else is a blur. I can still do it but have to use my other eye. Also, I can't see balls driven past 200 yds making finding them a sometimes problem.
  8. It had been 35 years since I had a club in my hands. At the beginning of the year my goal was to shoot in the 90's and currently I'm in the low 80's and I just went sub 18 usga. How I got there. Since March I've played 80 9 hole rounds. March and April I did 52 rounds in 60 days. That's probably the number one reason for my rapid improvement. I'm no good with a driver but my short game and putting are pure fun. My remaining goal is NO more dedicated improvement - just enjoyment. Yes, I'll still try to improve my drive but no more obsession.
  9. We stay at a GC in Florida for March and April so we got 50 rounds in 60 days. Thankfully it's $10 for 9 holes walking here. Having my wife golf also helps as there's no resentment or guilt.
  10. Yup, arthritis in the hands and now problems with my retina all make golfing that much more interesting, but I thank God for my days out on the course
  11. I'm no expert. NEW (not warn out) wedges with microgroves IMO do make a difference. I've got 1 yr old Cobra P & S wedges with about 38 rounds played. I just got volkey s7 50° & 60° wedges. Using the same stroke I get about the same rollout with both the 50 & 55. Using a forward ball position I can get a hop and stop with the 50 (with groves) whereas no matter how I hit or where I place the ball I get 5 to 8 foot rollout from the 55. I'm actually thinking of replacing the Cobra P & S with microgroved volkeys.
  12. I'm a 18.6 cap from the gold Tees and brand new here at TST. I'm retired, and 65. I use to do a lot of under water photography but last year the Dr said no more so I restared golfing about a year ago after 30+ years of not playing. I get 2-3 9 hole rounds a week plus usually 2+ hrs of practice. A good drive is 200+ and my avg is 185. Up until yesterday I was chasing the straight T shot and then I learned exactly how rare it is. So yesterday I decided I was just going to embrace my fade. No frustration, 8 of 9 FIR and a 43 without a penalty or lost ball. I think that That one simple thought change is really going to impact my enjoyment of this game.
  13. Been reading here for a while and decided to venture on in. I'm retired and i've put in 76 9 hole rounds thus far this year. Currently I'm doing 3 rounds plus 1 practice a week and seem to have settled into a 43 average. I play with my wife who shoots a 9 hole 55+.
