Located in Surprise, AZ. I have an excellent condition Ping G5 driver. I am the original owner. Cared for as you can see from the photos, no sky marks, original paint, 1 mark on the bottom of the club which I have no idea how it got there. I took it to golfsmith and the guy behind the counter commented that it looked like it had very little use. Shipping will be an additional $10 via USPS, Shipping is extra and I would defenitely recommend it. Best way to reach me: MSOKOL13@sbcglobal.net Photos were taken with my iphone. Sorry if they are not the best quality.

I think you need to play the following for sure: TPC of Scottsdale Troon North Karsten ASU golf course These are all target style desert courses....will really test your driver.

I think your putting too much thought into it. My wedges are: 56/12 60/8 The lob wedge is good for compact/hard sand as it has less bounce. The sandwedge is better for the fluffy stuff. I have found that going too extreme in either direction in regards to bounce ends up hurting my game.

I love my Nickent 3dx 2 ironwood. I can hit it like a long iron, with more of a descending blow and it goes nice and high with a soft landing.

Pros and Cons of Square and Round Fairway Woods
Msokol13 replied to EHSGolf1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Try the Nickent series of fairway woods. If you can't hit those it is time to see a teaching pro. Another recommendation would the the Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz woods. Again, this woods have a low and deep center of gravity and low profile face to give you the confidence you need on a tight lie from the fairway. It would also help us to know what kind of fairway you are playing now. As for square vs round. I like a traditional style clubhead so square is not for me. -
What about the Macgregor MT PRO wedges? I picked up 2 for $99 from golfsmith, they are forged and offer very good spin.

I've been doing some research on this man's swing. It makes perfect sense, yet I see no professional golfers doing it....never heard of a pro teaching it locally...what gives? If it really is all that it is cracked up to be it would make sense to overhaul my swing instead of spening $1k every other year buying the newest technology. All I want to do is hit the ball perfectly straight, down the middle every time.

head popped off by G15 driver today...

These things happen...no biggie. -
So, noticed that my friend is usually hitting 1-2 clubs more then me. What has my confused is that while I am hitting 8 irons into greens that he hits 6 irons he usually cranks his drive 15-30 yards further when we both make solid contact off the tee...why is this? The only thing I can think of is that he is 6'1 and I am 5'9. So, maybe he gets a larger arc but that doesnt really explain the irons. He is using the same lofted irons as me, but yet his woods are huge off the tee and in the fairway, its not uncommon for me to witness him land it on the green from 260 out with his 3 wood and hit 300 yard drives. I hit my clubs the following distances: LW-80 SW-100 PW-120 9i-135 8i-150 7i-160 6i-175 5i-185 4i-195 3i-205 2 hybrid-215 3-wood 230 driver-250

Losing yards by hitting irons too low?
Msokol13 replied to shortstop20's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
From my experience super game improvement irons cause me to hit the ball too high. The center of gravity it usually too low on these clubs. I would have a professional analyze your swing before you do anything drastic like changing your irons. I would also make sure that you are not swaying towards your target instead of rotating your body through-I sometimes do this and it causes my trajectory to be low. A good way to test this to get the proper feeling is to setup normally, then take a step to the right...this way you will have the feeling of hitting the ball on the upswing with your driver....hope that helps. -
I would only sport that bag if I won it in a golf outing. I dont think I could honestly cart that thing around knowing that people probably think I am an alcoholic for carrying it.....but its your money

What model of shaft? Would you be interested in trading? I've got a Ping G5 w/ a Aldila NV stiff shaft. The kick point is high which causes too low of ball flight for my liking.

Depending on what ball you are using(2 piece distance vs 4 piece) it may not a lick of difference what wedge you play. I personally dont see much of a difference. I've played Cleveland, Titleist, PING and right now I am playing Macgregors because they are forged, inexpensive (paid $99 buy 1 get 1 at golfsmith) and have a traditional style. They all spin about the same but I've heard callaway makes real high spin wedges and of course the vokey spin milled and cleveland zip grooves are all well liked. My suggestion is to get something similar to the ones you are carrying now, it will be easier to transition from one shot to the next with different clubs.

There is a reason that club is a rocket off the tee. The center of gravity is higher compared to most 3-woods. I had a Sonartec and experienced the same difficulties, same thing with my Ping G5 3 wood but not nearly as severe. I suggest you trade it in and get a Nicket 4DX. This clubs has a super hot face, a titanium crown which helps to lower the center of gravity and is avail. is a 3+ (13*) which I hit extremely well from the fairway OR the tee. Today I had an approach about 240 out and ended up pin high with a great trajectory. This says a lot because I'm not a very long hitter. Usually about 250-260 with my driver.

Went and played 18 holes this morning...nothing better then getting up before the sun is shining and playing at 6:07. Played pretty poorly on the front 9, worse then what my score really indicated. I wasnt getting much distance off the tee or in the fairway and just attributed it to the wet fairways. My normal golf swing has a "trigger", this is a slight head cock to the right and using looking at the ball with my left eye, similar to what Jack does. I also noticed that one of my playing companions was doing this, but before he did the "headcock" he gave the shaft a little forward press. I figured this must be something that helps his swing and since he was a better golfer then me and gave it a try. First, a slight forward press...maybe an inch with the butt end of the club towards the targer, then the headcock and wow. I was actually hitting it with a better trajectory and a little farther then normal. Not sure if it was just mental, but hell...it helped me on the back nine with my drives. Anyone else do something like this?

No. I meant what I said. If someone thinks I am better than what my handicap indicates. Id rather have someone make a comment like" Wow, your only a 13 handicap. You have a better swing and can hit shots better then what I've seen other people with this same handicap have". As opposed to: "wow, you supposed to be a 13 handicap? I've seen a lot better ball striking out of a 20 handicap".

Haha. I was going to say something about playing in a dessert vs desert but didnt want to be a d*ck. Good times. And thanks for all the input, I will incorporate putting the same swing that I would have used from the lie or take the panalty like the rules say. Last thing I want to do is make it look like I'm a better player then what I really am. I think its easier to play better when people think less of you.

I've been thinking about this for a while and wanted to see what other people had to say. A friend from work and I just started to play golf the last few weekends. I've noticed a trend that he does which I have incorporated as well. Here is AZ, you can hit it just off the fairway and your stuck in nast, narly gravel or big rocks. When this happens we have given it the old foot-wedge in order to not f-up our clubs, I work too damn hard for my money and dont want to mess my clubs up in the process. When we give ourselves relief it is never advancing the ball, usually and if need be 20 yards further back or maybe just one foot over, just somewhere to get out of the rocks. If the nearest point happens to be thick, 3 foot high native grass....that is where it goes...but it is better then rocks. opinions?

Hybrids: Anyone else have trouble with them?
Msokol13 replied to WUTiger's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had a problem with the PING hybrids...hated them when they first came out. Bought the NICKENT ironwood you seen in my signature and couldnt be happier. It is the easiest club to hit in my bag for shots out past 200 yards. I would also suggest the Bobby Jones hybrid, another one that I could hit very well from the fairway. -
Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
Msokol13 replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
You should check out golfsmith if you have one in your area. I picked up buy 1, get 1 on their cabretta gloves...they are really nice as well. As for Nike balls...thats all I play so I am sure they are pretty decent. -
Can someone point me in the direction of a good...accurate and FREE website to input my rounds for an accurate handicap? I've never known my handicap but this summer I've been shooting in the mid to low 80's. According to a friend when I mentioned I thought I was a 13 handicap he laughed and said that I'm a sandbagger because I play much better then a 13...but I really dont know too much about it. Nor has anyone ever really explained it to me.

Is my shaft too stiff in my driver?
Msokol13 replied to Msokol13's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the input and suggestions. I could also see that if I start getting tired later on in the round getting lazy with the driver. Off topic: How do you get the brand names to show up like that in your signature? -
Here is the problem. I went on the golf course today and had a pretty decent round on what I consider to be a difficult course- Trilogy of Vistancia-shot an 81. I know I could have saved a few strokes if it wasnt for my driver. I started off hitting my driver well enough, everything was going straight with maybe a little fade...if at all. I started struggling on the back nine with the driver. leaving my shots out to the right, not really a slice but just starting off right and going further right. I put away the driver, brought out the 3-wood and started hitting snap hooks. This was even present in my hybrid. This is the same with my mid to long irons. A nice draw or perfectly straight when I hold onto it. Went back to the driver....and yep, the same thing-blocking it out to the right. My nickent 3-wood and hybrid have the UST-SR3 and SR2.5 shafts while my driver has an Aldila NV shaft. I think the kick point is too high on the driver resulting in pushes and blocks as I am trying to create a draw. I know it is hard to diagnose a problem without seeing my swing but any ideas? I really like the trajectory I get with the 3-wood and hybrid. Not too fond of the trajectory with the driver, seems to just be a rope each time and runs a lot when it hits. My driver distance when I hit it pure is about 250. My swing speed with the driver is between 100-105 consistently

Looking for a new driver, I am looking for something that will maximize my length off the tee. Went to Golfsmith today and tested a bunch of drivers. I found that I swung this Monstrosity the best and it was by far the most forgiving. I absolutely love the sound this club makes but I am REALLY having a hard time getting over the shape of this thing.....it is butt-ugly...a face only a mother could love. Any opinions on this club, I can buy one barely used for $150 + 15% off through the weekend....should I pull the trigger.
