  1. Yep, I`d 2nd that
  2. It`s potentially every type of shot/club for me; I can hit really well (for me!) and be really pleased with myself and then the next time I go out I`m shanking or topping the ball etc...….the Frustration of it at times especially when I know I can hit decent shots...….it`s lack of consistency!
  3. Several weeks ago I was up at my Golf Club talking to the Pro about new Irons; mine are about 15 years old and I was quite amazed at how different modern Irons feel...I was very surprised. He said I could try a 7 iron on the range. Just out of interest I opted for a Ping i210 which is supposedly geared to the low/mid handicap player. I wasn't really expecting to do very well as I am a higher handicap golfer and logic told me that I would probably do better with the Ping G400 `game improvement` irons. I was amazed at how well I hit the ball with the i210s; a much better loft and distance than with my old cavity backed irons: ok, I still hit a few duffers, but on balance a great improvement; they just felt so pleasing to use. Several days later I tried the Ping G400 7 iron; it felt awkward and I had nowhere near the success rate of the i210s. The result is I was fitted at the Club for the correct shaft and lie etc and I have just picked up a new set of i210s, 5 - W. So it was interesting to find out that a High handicap player can play with `Players` irons.
  4. I’ve taken to leaving it in the glove compartment in the car ...’by accident!!’.......just in case my wife phones me!!!
  5. Here in the UK I use these 1/3 distance balls all the time over on my Recreation ground (when there is nobody about!). They are excellent, I use them with all my irons and Driver: they last for ages , although they become very lightly scuffed over time and discoloured. They seem to react pretty much like a proper golf ball.....just go 1/3distance though. For me they work well and have helped me considerably.......couldn’t be without them.
  6. Yep, I’m pretty sure that was them...thanks for posting the picture; brings back memories 😊
  7. I remember when I first took up golf in the 1970s, my Cousin played with Lynx (possibly` Predator`) irons; they really stood out from the crowd; I was very envious!
  8. 😁 you are probably right!
  9. Hi. Just joined The Sand Trap. Not played much golf for past 12 years, now getting back into it in a big way while I’m still fit enough (just!). Can’t wait for the better weather so as to get out and practice and play more. I’m watching loads of instructional stuff on YouTube which I find very inspiring.
  10. I’d hardly played much more than the occasional par 3 course for about 12 years; last year had some lessons, got really inspired; watch a ton of instructional stuff on YouTube and my swing has improved a lot. I also practice with practice balls on a local recreation ground when there’s no one about....that is a great help; only a short walk away 😊. I go on the range about once a week and it’s all starting to come together.

  12. Hi. This is my first post; just signed up to the SandTrap. I was talking to the professional at my club about putters only yesterday: he said he is regularly in disbelief by members who come into the pro shop, pick up an expensive putter , have a couple of successful putts across the floor and think their putting is suddenly going to be transformed !! As the pro said, it’s not the ‘putter’ (club), it’s the ‘Putter’ (golfer) which is the problem!
