  1. The Fort really is a gorgeous course. The back 9 may have some of the most fun golf holes Ive ever played.
  2. I concur. I hit the PX 6.0 on a set of TM r7 TPs for a while. Got my high ball flight under control. Nice launch profile. The dg s300s might get you hitting higher. Hit them in for a club fitter into a screen to find out how it will work for you.
  3. Having a Crown on rocks. It was a rough day (pulling teeth)
  4. Honestly I find it more confidence inspriing to have a nice thin line when looking down. Makes me really concentrate on my swing thoughts and put a nice stroke. I found myself getting really loosy goosy when I had my old CB's with thick top
  5. I love my 60*for ~60 yard "full swing" type shots, where I want to really go after the ball. I also love it for "cutesy" little shots, like flop shots from a fluffed up lie. Im able to really get under the ball and can get it nice and high een from a tight lie.
  6. I paid 385 for a set of the rac MB TP on eBay. Going rate for the TPs was about 400, so I dont see why you shouldnt get near 300 for your non-TP
  7. How can you possibly choose between Caddyshack or Tin Cup. Both are so perfect
  8. Pro V1x, but lately Ive been turned onto Taylor Made TP black. Cant really decide which I like better
  9. About 10 minute drive. I would hate to drive much further than that given the number of times per week Im out there.
  10. Look at all these Indy folks. I love hearing more people that took up the Saddlebrook membership. Gotta love that place. Pretty fun course despite the short length. Gotta find the good times to get out and play when it isnt bogged down. I started playing a lot at Trophy club in Lebanon lately. Twilight rates start at 2 PM weekdays for $29. Gorgeous course in great shape
  11. holy crap what a gorgeous putter. My wife will be like when I tell her I want one
  12. Holy Moly! I cannot imagine how much stuff I could fit in that thing! My bag has enough room for 2 boxes of balls and rain gear (maybe) Nice looking bag though
  13. I think all equipment in your bag is equally important. The biggest thing is to feel comfortable with whatever you have. Also remember, most expensive does NOT equal BEST. I dont really know which I would "value" more. Probably my putter, since you do use it on every hole, and chip shots can be done with any number of clubs.
  14. #15 at a course I grew up on. To the left is a stream, marked with red stakes. Every time I hit one into the water, I would tee it back up and hit again instead of just taking the yardage and drop. I dont know why I just couldnt force myself not to.
  15. I would love to be able to choose who I am following on the course. I dont always care what Tiger is doing, the network seems to only care about him and a few select others (obviously for advertising money purposes.)
  16. I am going on a short 4 man trip to Hilton Head Island the 2 weekend of October (1 week before my wedding, bachelor weekend!!). We are staying at a family friend's condo on the Sea Pines Ocean course. We'll probably play there a few times, but would like to explore more than just 1 course. Looking for up to 5 or 6 "must see" courses. Anyone been down to Hilton Head before? What are some good courses down there? We are looking for courses that have nice design, but also are a good value and can be fun for games inherent to a 4 man trip. Any recommendations would be great. There are just too many courses to choose from down there!!
  17. rac OS r7 TP (brand new in box! never been hit) rac MB TP Wife is about to kill me. Need to sell the rac OS and r7 TP before my wife kills me
  18. Titleist Vokey Spin Mill wedges 56.11 and 60.04 in the satin finish. Beautiful wedges
  19. Oh my goodness. Finally hit my new rac MB TPs, and holy cow!! They feel so nice. So heavy I can actually swing at the ball instead of trying to pick it clean. Gives that nice reassuring "thunk" on good shots. I will definately need to work on my 3-5 play though. Otherwise, Im very happy with these irons, I think it will force me to improve my game instead of just being content with so-so iron play.
  20. I just picked up my first set of blades from the post office. I ordered a set of TaylorMade rac MB TP irons on eBay. Got a killer deal and they are in great shape. I know my HDCP may not "be low enough" to "justify" getting blades, but I feel like I need to do something to shake up my iron play, which has been just ho hum for the past year. I hae been striking the ball well, but cannot get enough GIR to make me score well. Im hoping that havving a set of blades will make me concentrate on each shot a lot more.
  21. These are brand new clubs I bought at Golfsmith #1. Please dont think I meant the employee was trying to poach these clubs. Im sure he just saw it was an amazing deal for good clubs and would hae been interested if they were still available after the sale. Secondly, I plan on not hitting the clubs from Golfsmith at all, and hopefully can just return them brand new for full refund. (Which as long as the brand new clubs have not been hit, you can get a full refund). If I do hit these, I will end up keeping them. I also would like to point out that, there were 3 sets of used r7 TPs at this location for over 400: one of them was $800 and marked with todays date! Anways, enough Golfsmith talk, lets try to keep my thread on topic please.
  22. Well I didnt let the fact that he wanted the clubs influence my decision at all. Ive heard that the r7 TPs are pretty solid irons so thats what piqued my interest. Ill give the MB's a shot and see how I feel with them.
  23. Warning: Long story I have been playing serious golf for 5 years now, and I am still with my original TM rac OS irons, and I feel like my game is stagnant. My iron striking is fine right now, not great, not terrible. Im hitting the ball well, but cannot get GIR as much as Id like. My index has wavered from ~15-12. Its hard to get a true reading because Ive been in dental school for the past 4 years, not playing much. Now I have much more time to play. I was visiting my folks a few weekends ago, and played a few rounds at my dad's country club. I was talking with the pro, who has been following my game since I started taking the game seriously back in college, and we started talking about my game. He agreed that it looked like my scoring and my game in general were just stagnant. Not getting better, or worse. He recommended that I may want to switch something up, just try something new to see how it would work. He thought that with my swing, I may benefit from either a blade or a players cavity back. A more "aggressive" club. So I went to local Golfsmith and hit quite a few sets of ironos. Nothing felt so good in my hands as a set of TaylorMade rac MB TP. They had a set of display clubs that had never been hit, in the smoke finish. An amazing set of irons. Unfortunately the manager would not budge one bit from his $800 asking price. Not one dollar less than that. So fine, I started searching the scourge of the used golf club world (I say that with equal sarcasm and seriousness), eBay. I found a set of the exact clubs I wanted with FCM 6.0 flighted steel shafts. Gently used 2-PW for about $380. This was more up my alley. A reasonable price for gently used clubs that I feel like I hit well. If when I get the clubs, I cannot hit them, or don't like them, I can resell them and hopefully not lose that much money, and if I love them, I feel like I got a good deal on irons. I ordered on Friday, will be here Wednesday. Part 2. Went to Golfsmith yesterday, because I got an email about their tent sale. Buddy gets a few shirts, Im just walking around checking things out, and what do you know, they have a brand spanking new, wrapped in plastic, never been touched, TaylorMade r7 TP irons 3-PW with Project X 6.0 shafts. For $400 dollars I go back inside, there's a set of well used, banged up r7 TP irons, 4-PW, for $650. I go back outside, ask the associate, is this serious? They check the price and say yep. Another sales associate comes up saying he can tell Im going to get them but he wishes I wouldnt because he wanted to buy them. So after making sure I can return in full because its a new item, I buy the irons. So now I have 3 sets of irons (rac OS, rac MB TP, r7 TP). And its going to be a hard decision to pick which I like more. I know I like the way the rac MB TP feel when I hit into a net. But that may change when I get to the range and course. I have 30 days to return the r7's. $400 is a pretty good price for these brand new clubs, right? Any recommendations on how to proceed? Im thinking I will forget about the r7's for a while, hit the heck out of the rac MB TP's and see how I like them. If I like them, Ill just return the r7's straight up. If I dont like the blades...I'll cross that bridge when I reach it. Just thought I would share my journey with everyone, see if anyone has any words of wisdom, please dont let them be "Don't even think about blades with your HDCP" "you won't hit them well" etc. I know what Im getting myself into. John
  24. Tiger. I just cannot imagine anyone that is week after week better than him. He can go out there any week and be the hands-down favorite.
  25. http://www.saddlebrookgolf.com/ A decent public track. This past winter they sent an email to people on their email list and offered 2 years of greens fees for Mon-Fri for $200. Cannot possibly beat that deal for a poor dental student.
