I am in the UK Yep and that is the reason that they are doing the bone spur reduction, so that the freys do not get any worse and turn into a tear. As said it is on private healthcare and I do not think for one minute they would do this op at my stage, if I were having it done on the NHS.

Funny this thread should come up, as a few weeks back on the 17th (runs level with the 18th with a road and the club house in-between) we had a wild wind blowing from behind so I thought I would try and muller one as far down as possible, of course I tee'd it up high and off my left foot small toe and swung at it like a baboon, the result was I came right round myself and sent what I like to call "a 60° driver" wildly left off the tee, over the road and the roof of the club house and somewhere near the 18th fairway. When we played the 18th I found the ball in the rough by the 1st tee, which runs parallel with the 18th, wind carried the ball about 100 yards forward and around 80 yards left lol. I was very impressed, but not with 3 off the tee as the result was double bogie

Yes I could not find them any cheaper than £99 online, so they had 1 left at my local pro shop that had been on display with no box (not a mark on it) so he offered £75 and I said aye

Cheers guys for all you well wishes I am planning to do 8 weeks rest from golf (although all the rehab and surgeon said 6 weeks) from the day of the Op which will take me to around the 6th Feb, which is when I can start practising again. I will be having regular physiotherapy so should be in good shape by then. I have caught the damage early, from what the surgeon said after seeing the MRI is that there is no need for any re-constructive surgery on the shoulder muscles or tendons as they are just slightly frayed and swollen so it is just a shaving of the bone. I don't suffer from regular pain/numbness but the painful times are becoming more and more regular, so as I have full private health with work I can get it all done and dusted hopefully. I know what your saying about the exercise's as well, I dislocated my knee in 2006 and still do the physio every now and then if it starts to feel week I am looking forward to being less tired as well with the cart, hopefully it will help with my game as well?

Yeah the thing that swung it for me was the layout for the clubs, wanted it the same as my Nike bag like this... Has 9 storage pockets AFAIK.

Really like to carry but I have had issues with my back (lower right side relating to right hip tightness, Physio sorting this) and right shoulder for a couple of years now. I am booked in for surgery on my right shoulder to have a "Arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression" in layman’s terms they will shave some bone away, as it wearing away the tendons in my shoulder and causing me pain and numbness (if the tendons snap or tear I will be in trouble) I am booked in for this on 6th December to maximise the use of my membership until I would not be playing because of winter. Will be off golf for around 6-8 weeks, but when I return it is no more carrying for me. Good news is that I got some new stuff Got this trolley for £75 from my local shop... Motocaddy S1 Lite Push Cart And this Cart Bag ordered in for my Birthday (4 days after the Op!) Ping Frontier LT 2010 So not all bad news, just hope the operation goes well so I will be in good shape for the start of the 2011 season!

How long did it take you to get to your current Handicap?
Ash1974 replied to bkoguy07's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I started messing in Oct 2007 with my 1st membership starting in Mar 2008, in this first year I got down to a 16.4 (easy course breaking 100/90 in six months) from Mar 2009 I joined my current club (for my membership I get 2 championship courses) and my handicap has climbed and dropped (mainly climbed this year) to 17.7 due to how tough the courses are. This 17.7 is based on the score tracker on todaysgolfer.co.uk which I have added 99% of my score cards to since starting golfing. My official club handicap (CONGU) is 14.2 and is based on the score cards I put in when joining (13.4) and from the comps I have entered at my club since (these have put it up to 14.2) however I know that the score tracker is more accurate and is right for where I am playing at the moment (if I play of 14 I barely get 25 points) so to me my handicap is 17.7 -
Yeah I feel for you, I can only dream of shooting 78! On a serious note I guess that you shooting 78 is like me shooting 108 so I can understand your pain. Try the old one foot forward putting for the shorter puts (ala Justin Rose) works for me as it keeps my right arm tucked in and stops me pushing the puts. I do this from 5-6 feet and in.

It was the most up and down round I have ever had this weekend, 1 birdie, 6 pars, 6 bogies, 1 double, 2 triples and 2 x 9's! First 9 was on a par 4 where I hit 2 tee shots out of bounds trying to be clever and cut the dog leg the 9 on the par5 was a bad lie, my second shot (3W) clipped a tree at the end of its flight and came back towards me ending up under the grass (rough) that was growing towards the hole, so it was a flyer that I thinned with my wedge and air mailed the green into no man’s land at the back, resulting in 3 hacks to get it out (3 foot high fescue) and a 3 put Shot 54 front 9 (including the 2 9's) and 40 back 9 (missed 3 birdie putts as well) Cannot remember the last time I shot and 8/9 LOL Apart from those two holes I played well so I am happy. Shooting 40 back 9 after the two 9's on the front was great for me, as I do tend to let bad holes ruin rounds

Can't hit my long irons off the tee!!!
Ash1974 replied to Ash1974's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
An update fro anyone who ares I played all the par3's this weekend off the deck and my scores for the 5 par3's were as follows 3/5/2/4/4 the 5 being a 3 put as the flag was 40 feet away from my ball, but I am well happy with the results. -
I have done this recently, as I felt my driver/3w/hybrid were too whippy, so replaced the 3W and Hybrid (with stiff shafts) and got a stiff shaft for the driver. I have only played one round with the Driver/3W and a couple with the hybrid but the difference was clear to see from the offset, my drives are much straighter and lower with nice light fade instead of strong fade/slice. The same can be said for my 3W and hybrid so I am very happy I am sticking with the R flex shafts in my irons for now as getting on OK with them.

He was cool under pressure, love one of his comments as well... "I actually didn't know how many birdies I had. The ball just kept going in the hole, it was a really fun day" Charley Hoffman.

Hey I hear what you’re saying, I would be upset if he was like that at an event I took my kids to, what I am saying is that this was one event, sure it had a lot of people who may not see another tournament all year and may have been a charity event, but it is one event in the hundreds he attends each year, and no one can be prefect all year. I am fully aware that this is the not the only gripe about his attitude on here, but most of the posts as said by others are hearsay, the same hearsay that states most players on the tour say he is a happy and pleasant chap. Your experience however is not hearsay and is a real experience so you are entitled to say and feel what you will about him, but so is the same real experience's that I have had several times when he has been great hence my liking of him. My original post was to this affect, in that it is based on my experiences and I guess that yours is based on your experiences, so I retract that saying he is a jerk based on one event is off, but I maintain that he should not be judged by others with no personal experience.

Yep agree, we all have our faults and he has a few, but as said he worked as an assistant in a pro shop and had the will to make it big, which I admire him for. Yes his swing is not perfect and breaks down under pressure some times, but when he is on, he is on! even the best get frustrated but it seems most on here love to bash someone and it is always Poulter and that does not happen unless you are a global sports personality. I have seen him at many events and he has always made time for fans and autographs, he does a lot of work for the Make A Wish Foundation as well. So saying he is a jerk based on seeing him once at a Irish ProAm when he may have been having a bad day is off IMHO. I like him, yes he is bold with his clothes but at least he isn't another boring Florida type with beige slacks and god awful lycra polo shirt on day in day out.

Can't hit my long irons off the tee!!!
Ash1974 replied to Ash1974's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yeah one of the guys I play with (6 HC) takes big divots with the same irons, so not sure why I was worrying about playing it of the deck. On this note, his SW divots you could tie to your feet and use as shoes, or as he likes to do, hangs it from his belt buckle and says "70's bush" before replacing it on the crater he dug LOL -

Can't hit my long irons off the tee!!!
Ash1974 replied to Ash1974's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
From the 25th for two weeks the resort is closed full stop, no members, guests or residents, the Twenty Ten has been the main focus for a while now though so will be in mint shape. Yeah maybe, what is the flying wedge lol? Yeah could be going at it too hard, just hard not to for some reason with par3's? mental block is a big factor as well. -
My father is a retired PGA pro and has always said that right handed golfers should play left handed and visa versa for lefty's, as your dominant hand then leads your swing. Most righty amateur golfers suffer from the fact they try and force their swing with their right hand (my self included in this) as your right side dominant. Just a thought.

Can't hit my long irons off the tee!!!
Ash1974 replied to Ash1974's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Cheers I will try them off the grass, I don't take divots so won't annoy anyone at the club Still gonna get a pro to look at me though. -
Getting fed up of this now, off the tee with all my woods I am fine, all my Irons off the deck are fine, but long irons (4-6) off the tee are terrible, always either catching them thin and right, or high and right, so any Par 3 over 160 and I am screwed... The par 3's ruined my score today, played a course with 5 par 3's and scored 5/5/4/5/4 As an example, in this same round I hit 5i and 6i from the fairway and put both on the green yet from a tee could not hit either straight. I have even started tee'ing the ball as low as possible to make it like I am hitting off the deck but no joy! Distance is always pin high just well right, any idea's before I see a pro?

Anyone playing John Letters equipment?
Ash1974 replied to buzz57's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My brother used to have a full set of JL clubs, talking around 15 years ago mind. Think JL have recently come back into club making. They were good quallity clubs. -
Thought I would use this to post some pics since I added my new clubs, Driver/3 wood/hybrid, all with stiff shafts (as per sig) Need a new camera!
