  1. I don't write anything on a scorecard until after the round. Like I posted above, I write down essentially what every shot does, but don't tally anything until the end. I know if I am playing well or not, but I don't know where my score is. For example, the 85 I shot last week I knew I was playing better than ever, but I didn't think it was that low. I figured I was flirting with 90. Then Saturday I knew I was playing like crap on a poor course that was playing much longer than it was marked. I was somewhat surprised it was a 101 and not a 110 at the end of the day. Especially when you factor in another 12 on one hole....
  2. I might actually get to play next time. I just don't like that the drive is more than an hour each way for nearly every event.
  3. I don't think they will, but I'd like to see the Jets...err...Coyotes win it all. The Stars fired Tippett, which I understood but didn't like, and Dave and his mustache has taken a team most thought would be pitiful to the playoffs where Tom Hicks' empty wallet led the Stars to an early offseason.
  4. I take a notebook and record all my strokes to keep stats and such. I just don't add up anything until I am done. My first hole would look something like: 1 - D (436) FH 241 3H (195) right 193 chip 12' Putt = 4 So on the hole I know I hit the fairway and drove it 241 yards. My approach was right of the green and went 193. I was able to get up and down to save par. If it is windy I will show the direction it is blowing on the hole or if anything important or of note I will put that too. After I am done and have a minute to compute it I find out how I did. Perhaps this makes me a nerd, but oh well.
  5. That sucks man. It is also why I don't count up my score until I'm done. I know if I am playing well but not what my score is so I don't put more pressure on myself to do or not do something that would crater the round.
  6. 101 today after I played Thursday and shot 85 on a longer and harder course...when its dry. The course today was 6100 yards and every hole is wide open and straight but it played about 6700 I guess because it was wet. It wan't that windy. It didn't matter how well you hit the ball it wasn't going very far. The greens were in shockingly bad condition too.
  7. IIRC, the 440/460 is the STR8FIT where the regular VR Tour has like a 420 or so. Now...how much workability you gain and forgiveness you lose with the smaller head I don't know. As my sig suggests, I am partial to the custom fit stuff myself.
  8. So I decided to pull up the page on Firefox rather than Safari. On Firefox it looks right, but Safari looks like what I posted above. Meanwhile you and everyone else's looks right on Safari. Then I decided to restart Safari and it looks fine...
  9. As I understand it the 460 is more forgiving than smaller heads, which to me would lead to less distance. The smaller head is less forgiving and is more workable so that is why it is preferred by better players. It makes sense to me it is longer too, though I wonder if slight mishits would penalize you more severely than the 460 would therefore keeping the 460 longer for most players.
  10. What am I doing wrong? My rounds are obviously uploaded but it isn't right either.
  11. Personal best 85. Finished just before dark. You maybe could have got one more hole in.
  12. I played my best round ever today and ended up shooting 85. My driving was the best it has ever been. I wasn't able to warm up due to time and also that a high school team was about to tee off, so I warmed up on the first 2 holes. I usually average 225-235 with driver, but today the average was 261. And that includes 3 sub 210 efforts (179, 192, 205) and does not include a 248 yard 4wood. These are marked with a uPro so I am not guessing on distances. There was some wind today (10-15 mph), but I had just as many into the wind as I did helping I only lost 4 balls today (another low), and if I knew/were playing by the rules probably would have had a 90. Still would have been my best round ever. And for the first time I played the same ball long enough to need to retire it. I was able to spin the ball twice and hit a career high 7 GIR. I'm pretty excited about the day and look forward and hope the weather allows me to play Saturday morning.
  13. Thursday morning I said AK at -7. This morning I thought Phil at -15. AK played well this weekend and I almost had Phil's number.
  14. I thought that was the "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" scream.
  15. That swing is the think that makes Hank...Hank. All his instructors at the facility in Lewisville and I assume everywhere teach the exact same thing. It screwed me up terribly and killed my back. And that was in just one hour.
  16. I played Plantation in Frisco on Saturday and shot 99. And that was with a couple of stupidly played holes and should have shot about 94. Like the rest of you, I was having problems keeping the ball from rolling where ever it decided to. Had to back off several times just to keep from being blown over during gusts.
  17. Played 36 this weekend. Saturday was in 40mph wind and Sunday was in 15-25mph wind. Just crazy weather on Saturday and shot a 99 that should have been no more than 94...and quint and a triple on consecutive par 4s. Sunday was a scramble tournament at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine. Had some shots I have already forgotten, but two stand out. Both were wedge shots. The first was 70 yards up hill and over sand. The pitch mark was 4 feet short of the hole and the ball was 18 inches. I did almost the same thing later in the day. About a 40 yard shot almost as far uphill but instead of carrying a bunker I had to go across the green. I pitched about 25 yards and the ball ran to inside a foot. Both of these were to scramble par.
  18. If I were buying an off the rack OEM driver I would go with the D3.
  19. Something we should do for sure, but if we are looking for a better name then perhaps we should hold until that happens.
  20. I don't know about that one, but my uPro does measure that. The uPro will also let you look at the course while at home if you have the Pro Mode downloaded and on 'Preview'.
  21. Hit two real good drives today (one of which carried 235 and rolled to 322...real hard fairways), but the best shot was a 40 pitch shot. I had come up short on my approach...very slick fairways and I slipped and ended up off balance. Anyway, about 30 of the 40 yards was over sand and it was really intimidating for me. Anyway, made my shot and it hit about 13-14 feet past the hole a little bit left. For the first time in my life, the ball hit and spun backwards. It came back about 6 feet and I had 7 feet to cover for a scramble par...which I struck 3 inches wide.
  22. Got it today. Doesn't look any different, but if the new ones meets their standards and the old one doesn't then I'll use it. Pretty good customer service to me..."Hey, we know what you have works, but it isn't good enough. Here's a new one that does."
  23. While singing Poker Face.
  24. I duffed a chip yesterday and the entire face was covered with mud. I wasn't mad, but trying to get the mud off I started swinging the club by casting it kinda like a fishing pole. The mud didn't come off and I wondered what people would think if they had seen me doing it.
  25. New low for yesterday. Hit 5/14 fairways and only 1/18 greens. But I had 30 putts, only one 3 putt. Ended up shooting 94...the first time I broke 100 since an 89 last October.
