  1. Good find! I do hit some of my shots fat at times. Now, how do you fix it? ;)
  2. Ball flight hasnt changed much, but I know that I havent been doing this that long as my clubs wear in the middle. I look at my clubs after I hit them and can see where the ball was struck and here lately its usually out near the toe. I come from the inside...maybe too much as my right elbow is close to my body at impact. I dont not choke down at all and I do not feel that I am leaning back. I keep my weight forward over the balls of my feet. Likely what I am doing...will give it a shot. Thanks. Its not that I feel it out on the toe so much as seeing the ball/grass impression out there after a swing. I will get some tape and check it out.
  3. I have started hitting my irons off the toe...heck, I'm probably hitting all of my clubs off the toe. I dont usually do this but I have been fighting my swing the past year. I have lost distance with my driver as well. This could be from where it hits on the club though. It isnt because I am standing too far away. I have been playing for many years and havent changed my stance much. It isnt because of improperly fitted clubs because I have had the same clubs for a few years and didnt do it before. I am sure its my swing that I have been chasing. Any tips to fix it? Thanks. I dont have the ability to post a vid right now because my 2yr old tossed the high dollar camera in the pool!
  4. Just maintain your spine angle through the shot...you are likely just coming out of your swing.
  5. Thanks for the replies...I am spraying my gamer more than usual the past couple months. I think this mainly has to do with the fact that I have been playing it for 10yrs and the shaft has lost some of its strength. I hit it a ton, but its hard to score when you are in the trees. I hit the Zcom and the BB and feel that the Zcom is a little too boardy feeling and the BB is a bit soft for a stiff shaft...may move up to the xstiff BB.
  6. Is there a secret catch phrase that I need to include in my posts for someone to respond? ;)
  7. Your hands are further from your body at impact than they were at address...whether this is caused by suppinating your right arm on takeaway, getting too quick on your backswing and coming a bit over the top, or whatever...the easiest way that I have found to fix these is to slow your backswing...taking a full swing...and consciously swing your hands in close to your body on the way back down. When you start hitting them off the toe of the club, you know you are cured.
  8. Does anybody have an FT9 Tour with either of these shafts? How do they play? I hit the ball with a high launch already as well as low spin...with the drivers I have used in the past. I played a round with the FT9 Tour with the Voodoo shaft in it and liked it but it wasnt mine(but felt like I lost a little distance compared to my gamer). I have access to these two shafts before playing in a tourney this week. My normal swing is 105-108mph...but can get it up above 110 at times. These shafts are both in stiff flex...and I have yet to hit either. Of course I am going to hit them both on the range before making a decision, but would like to have some opinions and ideas before making it. Thanks.
  9. Yep...Srixon Zstar and Bridgestone B330S. I like the Penta as well. Any of these will give you what you are looking for.
  10. I dont like the Fast 10...it is for sale. All of the 15 or so shots I hit with it are in the center of the club, so it isnt off center hits. I guess I will stick with my Redline...
  11. If youre just starting out, try to get the club back on a flatter swing plane, fire your weight to the left side while pulling your hand/arms down into the space the right hip just vacated...hold the wristcock as long as possible and release the clubhead into the ball...you can put a tee into the ground in the 1 o'clock position out in front of the ball...(target line is 12 o'clock). Try to hit the ball to the tee that is in the ground. With a square face at impact, you should hit a nice high draw if you can get your weight to the left side prior to impact.
  12. I just picked up the Fast10 the other day. I havent played with it yet, and coming from the old Redline Ti 460, its gonna take a really good driver for me to make the switch permanent. On the launch monitor I was hitting this new club with the stock Wasabe shaft at a launch angle of 14* with a spin of around 2600rpm. I didnt have my gamer with me, so I couldnt compare the two, but my old Redline still feels hotter even after playing it for almost 10yrs...same shaft. I will head to the range tomorrow and see how it performs. I am not holding my breath as I have bought a new driver every year since I've played with the Redline and have yet to find one that is better...
  13. Maybe the golf pro is just tired of working with him? ;)
  14. Sounds like a great idea...but each persons videography skills is different, and will affect your ability to analyze the swing effectively. I am sure you guys have this figured out, however. Is it possible to incorporate connecting a camera to a computer with an internet connection and you guys critique the swing in real time via an instant messanger...as instant feedback is helpful. Then you can take the video and do your work with it and send it to the student as well. For people with bad swings, its gonna take more than 4 vids in a month to get the kinks worked out.
  15. Yup...I have never had a lesson and shoot in the 70s regularly. Of course I fight my swing on occasion like everyone else. I got to this level quickly by just playing a lot of golf and emulating swings I see on TV. Once you get the feel for what the swing is supposed to feel like, you spend the rest of your golf life chasing that feeling. (kinda like a meth junkie!!) Some days it all clicks and my swing is on...others not so much. But, thats why I am an ER doc and not a pro golfer!
  16. If it is just packed sand...more like dirt, I will ust close the face and make the same explosion shot. This will get the ball out, sans spin of course.
  17. I have concentration issues as well...many times I will go out and shoot even to +2 on the front and then shoot +5 to +7 on the back! I just lose my focus and my swings are a "I wonder where this one is going" type swing! One 200mg provigil before playing gives me tremendous focus. I say get the membership and play a lot of golf...you are bound to get better if you learn the swing and know what you are doing wrong when you hit a bad shot.
  18. I am going for my first lesson tomorrow...my handicap is to the left. So, once every 15yrs or so.
  19. Yep...I know I do this. Have any drills to burn this into my head?
  20. This all makes sense and is what I normally do...up until I somehow went from a straight up, straight through swing to a more flat plane swing. I didnt consciously switch swings...I guess me getting older I cannot get the club in that position anymore. But I will try the things you have stated. Thanks. Actually, its a combo of all of the above. My grip is very strong, I play the ball way forward (worked very well with my old swing) and teed up high, I noticed that I have started to close my stance subconsciously for some reason...I try to correct it when I notice it, I often times notice the clubface being closed when I take the club back (grip issue?), I know I sometimes come over the top and dont clear my left hip all the time, etc...I sucks because I am used to shooting mid 70s and now I am fighting to break 80. Its hard to shoot in the 70s when you hit a 300yd hooker 2 fairways over...maybe I should bring her to my fairway? :) I will get the swing video this weekend. Thanks. I have tried to weaken my grip and it feels very awkward...like the club is gonna fly out of my hands! Whats crazy is, with the weaker grip I fade the crap out of the ball. Probably still have the over the top swing with the face open...should result in pull fade, but doesnt always. I am coming over the top because my backswing is short and I get quick and dont clear my left hip before firing the club through the ball. When I do clear my hips the ball goes relatively straight...but once I have learned that over the top swing, its hard to get rid of it...I just quit playing for a couple weeks and it goes away for a while. Thanks for the help.
  21. I am sure that he bought something by now since this thread is 7 months old.
  22. I am pretty sure that I am not clearing my left hip...actually shifting my weight forward without clearing the left hip(hip goes toward target and not back and out of the way) and when I swing through the ball I hook it.
  23. Just the longer clubs...but mainly with the driver and 3W when I tee it up.
  24. Is what this instructor in this video saying correct? Based on what I have learned from Eriks stuff he is wrong...fastforward to 1:18 to how he says the pull hook happens.
  25. My misses are always left. Most of the time I hit a straight draw but often times I hit a pull hook...based on what I have been reading on Eriks posting, my clubface is always closed to my swingpath...and sometimes I close it relative to my target and others I do not...depending on which of the two above shots I hit. I know when I dont get to my left side and come over the top and yank the ball left with a closed face...and this is what is causing the pull hook. With that thinking, should I just open the face more at address...or adjust my grip? I have a pretty strong grip...with 3 knuckles visible on my left hand (right handed). It feels awkward to me to weaken the grip...since I have been playing with the same grip since I started playing 15yrs ago. But, I have recently changed my swing to where I come more from the inside on my downswing. My backswing is shorter than most and I tend to get quick and cant catch up with my lower body...but I still generate 118-120mph clubhead speeds. So you can imagine what happens to my golf balls when I hit the above shots. I appreciate the advice. I plan on getting some video of me at the range when the weather here in south Texas improves.
