Certainly they are hard to lose as they just stay where placed. Some have commented that time is wasted gutting them set up out of their cases, or pushing them into the ground. Surely not as much that is spent searching for a 'favourite tee" that had flown forward, back or sideways.. I have one that I sometimes use on the range...saves running out collecting tees in the line of fire.

I play off 28 and had 36 putts today - my best is around 32, can't remember my worst number, but would be disappointed to be over 40 One big difference with the low h'cappers is that they put their chips and pitches a lot closer more consistently than hackers - apart from their being better putters too.

Technically of course you are all disqualified under 1 - 3 Players must not agree to exclude the operation of any Rule or to waive any penalty incurred. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE 1-3: Match play – Disqualification of both sides; Stroke play – Disqualification of competitors concerned.

As mentioned earlier, IF anyone puts in a handicap card with gimmies then they are in breach of the rules = cheats. Pure and simple. On the other hand, for a social game not in competition nor for handicap, I frankly don't give a rat's whether you have gimmes from the whole green, tee off from in front of the tee boxes, have mulligans, free drops from divots or whatever

If you were headed for Australasia then you should also consider the two courses at Barnbougle, Northern Tasmania (Dunes and Lost Farm), and some of the half dozen amazing courses within half an hour of Queenstown, NZ (including Jack's Point, The Hills, Millbrook and Kelvin Heights). Melbourne's Sandbelt and the area beyond, the Mornington Peninsula has at least half a dozen fabulous courses. I am sure there are many others too. New South Wales GC in Sydney is said to be fabulous - haven't played it, yet.

Not wishing to be too precious, but 'gimmies' are OK for social play, maybe, if agreed by all parties, but if anyone tried it on me in a club competition or for handicap I would not sing their scorecard (would warn them when they first tried it). And as pointed out above, they are appropriate for match play.

As a matter of interest what happens if one uses an abrasive steel brush? IF it results in a little rust, is this necessarily bad? Could aid spin perhaps? Would it make the club non-conforming?

You need to visit Royal Melbourne!! I have never seen so many deep bunkers - some would be well over 10 feet. Kingston Heath (also in Melbourne) not far behind.

Quite correct - in fact you cannot play the original ball even were it in some perfect position.

Now a 232 degree hybrid would be a very interesting club !!!:~(. Can't quite picture it :-)

Simple answer: Whether you use the 15th or not, if you carry it and are putting in a card for hcp or for competition, then you would be cheating. What you and your mates do on a 'recreational round', be it Mulligans, gimmies, free drops etc etc or an extra club is your own business.

No probs mate. I have actually taken to playing a coloured ball for a provisional, just to make it all easier and quicker for us all. Cheers

rustyredcab - do yourself, and your mates a favour and buy a few small coloured indelible felt tip markers (under a dollar each over here) and put something distinctive on you ball; an X. a circle, or whatever. Hell, there can then be no argument at all.

Very simple - a provisional is only a provisional if it is called a provisional!! Some with whom I play say "I'll hit another" prompting me to ask "will that be a provisional?" I think they feel I am being obsessive but they are coming around.

I recently bought a Flip 'n Go 4 wheeler and love it - my 5yo 3 wheeled Smoothy finally died in action. Super easy to open and to fold - literally 5 seconds - well balanced and easier to push. Plenty of storage space, umbrella holder, drink holder etc.

Obvious question is - how do you know it isn't for you then? I have had one and used it a bit when I was a beginner, though now I know how (at least in theory) how to use my wedges I have given it up. Can't imagine a low handicapper would need one but a battler may find it a lot simpler to get reasonable results.

I am never a long hitter, but I bought a 49 and loved it from up to 80 metres or so - now added a 42 which get me 100 - 110 metres from the fairway, and useful from light rough. Have given away my 9, though the 42 is said to be equivalent to PW. Thinking about the 37 in lieu of 8 or maybe even 7 - seems to offer an extra 5 - 10 metres as compared to the equivalent loft in a conventional wedge / short. The balls stops pretty well too. 47 no good for chip and run, 42 a bit better but prefer a 7 or 8 most of the time.

Did you mention somewhere, other that his lack of personality or even possibly humanity, what was his handicap? Name the course or even region and I will steer clear.

Has anyone here used the Cleveland Niblik Hybrid Wedges?? Said to be easier to use than a wedge eg 49 deg equivalent to pitching wedge. Interested in expert comments.
