  1. I'm just starting to get into S & T. I've been playing since I was 8 and am now 24. I gave up the game literally late in college after fighting hooks. I got so frustrated with it that I just quit pretty much for two years. After getting the desire back to play, I miss the competitiveness, and being intrigued by S & T, I picked the game back up this summer. My misses have always been the big pull hook or getting stuck and losing it right. I have always had difficulty getting the ball started to the right of the target consistently. Basically all I've done so far is working on keeping my weight forward and I've seen good results so far. I like the consistency I get in my ball striking. I'm still having trouble starting the ball to the right, but that will come the more in depth I get into the swing. I picked up the book this week and have really began trying to implement it into my game on the range. Things I know I will have the most difficulty with: Getting the hands inside, I've always fought having my club get way inside my hands. Also, when I get to the top of the swing I will struggle getting the hips going forward, I will want to let my weight work back to my right side on the start of my downswing. However, I am committed to getting there. My ball flight has already done a complete 180 from hitting it sky high to a low penetrating ball flight which I like a lot, has probably added 10 yards to all my shots.
  2. I love Scotty's putters, they feel amazing. Do I necessarily make anymore putts with them? No probably not. It's just a matter of personal preference. You are more than likely gonna putt better with a putter that you have more confidence in. If a Scotty gives you more confidence, then yes it's probably worth it. I change putters so often it doesn't really matter what I putt with, if I set up with a putter one day and it just feels "weird", I'll have a different one in the bag tomorrow.
  3. I'm really looking to switch to more of a blade iron, I don't really wanna shell out that much for the new 710mbs or cbs. I really like the progression of the cavity on the 735. I was just wondering if anybody is still hitting these and if they still like them?
  4. I've always choked down about a half inch on all of my clubs, but lately the club doesn't feel comfortable unless I grip way down on the club. I'm wondering if I shorten the length of my clubs about an inch if it will mess with the swing weights too bad. I know I can get the weight added back, but am mainly just wondering if you guys think this would be a good idea and if I would be able to notice the difference. I'm not really looking to get a new set so I would rather just adjust my set.
  5. I started playing when I was about 8. Have been hooked ever since. I grew up in a small town and my dad was superintendent at the course. When I started I was the only junior age golfer there, by the next year we had 10. I always claimed responsibility for that, made me feel cool. But really I just wanted to have someone to play with so I would have someone to play with.
  6. I will wear white only with my white golf shoes. I wear black with either, no show all the way with shorts though, on and off the course.
  7. I think it's just like knowing the rules and using it to your advantage. It doesn't bother me and I really doubt that it bothers many pro players. As for the belly putters, I know a lot of people think they shouldn't be allowed. I have used one on off for 5-6 years and I see what people are saying but as long as everyone has the opportunity to use one then I see no issue with it. If they were banned I would have no problem with it. I'm just always of the opinion that no matter what equipment, you still have to pull the shot off.
  8. I love my 60, I don't use it all that much, but I don't really use it for full shots, it's mainly for around the greens and bunker. It's a matter of confidence, if you have confidence in it you'll probably be able to use it effectively. Carrying a 60 is not for everyone, it can get you into trouble if you aren't consistent with it.
  9. I would say 75 yards and in. When my handicap was at its lowest was when I spent countless hours working on the scoring shots. I developed an array of different shots that I would work with. I learned to hit it high and soft, low and spinning, and then bump and run. I added a routine of making 50 3 footers in a row everyday when I practiced. One of the things I worked on was to be able to turn a round in which I hit the ball like an 85 and turn it into a 75 or lower with my short game. The other thing I would recommend would to work on recovery shots, they will come in very handy 2-3 times around and can help turn a big number into a par or bogey. Lowering your handicap takes work and is a struggle, many times you will feel like you hit a wall and just can't breakthrough, but you just keep working at it. That's what makes this game so fun.
  10. I wear both, visor mostly though. I'm totally anal about my headwear. I only wear a white hat or visor when I play, my wife thinks I'm weird...she's probably right.

I'm a stock guy. Although I did have a red white and blue cover that was on an old ping persimmon 3 wood.
  12. Bubba grew up not very far from where I'm from, he played junior golf 6-7 years before me and I remember seeing him when I would go watch some of those tournaments. He used to wear knickers in all of his junior tournaments.
  13. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to having a hybrid. I know many players who swear by them and have definitely improved their games using them. I can't hit them to save my life. I hit the ball high enough already and hybrids go even higher. It's more of a personal thing, if I could find a hybrid that I could keep low and hit consistent I would put it in the bag.
  14. 1.) Get in better shape. I've lost a lot of flexibility in my swing and it's really affecting my game. 2.) Get my handicap back to where it was before my year and a half hiatus. (roughly 5 right now, was a +2 before) 3.) Drop the putting average. 4.) Have fun, main reason I stopped playing was because I quit enjoying it, I want to play the game for what it is, just a game. 5.) Play one shot at a time.
  15. Name is Colby. Just joined after reading for a few days. I'm just starting to get back into playing again, played my whole life until I my junior year of college and then got so busy it cut into my practice time. Coaching two sports really affects the time I can spend working on my game and getting back to where I was. I've tried a couple of times over the last year to commit to my game, here's to hoping I can follow through with it this time.
