  1. Just remember, don't decelerate on the swing to get the 80%. For me, if I take an absolute full backswing I will almost always end up with a slice. I take about a 75-80% length of backswing and then a full speed swing and follow through. I find my shots end up much better that way.
  2. The answer is, it depends what you are comparing them to. I have a set of Burners and the lofts are generally about 3* stronger than the previous set of Callaways I had. Manufacturers tweak lofts often, it is an easy way of "getting more distance". Persoanlly I don't care if my club is labeled 6, 7 or 8 as long as I know how far I hit it. I would actually prefer that all clubs drop the numbering and just put the loft then there is no guessing from one set to another. As for the OP, I like my Burner's quite a bit. I don't really find them clunky for me. All swings are different but they seem to suit mine well.
  3. A guy in my company takes donated golf clubs and sends them to military units deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers are extremely grateful to have the opportunity to hit some balls and take their minds off things. If you live anywhere near a military post or Reserve / Guard unit check with their headquarters. You could probably also write those off as a chartitable contribution if you are so inclined.
  4. Speaking for myself, I have a pass for the course so it doesn't matter, I've already paid. If I had to go through warm ups I would not be able to play as by the time I would get there from work leaves no time to go the range and hit a bucket of balls followed by putting and chipping. If I was retired and had a standing tee time, that would be a different story.
  5. All of these are good suggestions. Sometimes getting to the course from work and trying to get out before leagues start only leaves about a 10 minute window, so I have try to do something quick. Thanks for the suggestions. All except for get out of car, walk to tee, hit driver.....
  6. What do you do to get warmed up for a round if you can't hit the range for a few shots? I play a few times a week and lift weights on the other days. It seems like it takes me 3 to 5 holes before I feel comfortable. I need to find a way to get my rhythm and "loosen up" in a faster way. Any suggestions?
  7. Anyone here use the Nike Juice Plus? They were on sale at Walmart for $15 so I bought a dozen. Played 9 holes with them so far but can't really judge them as it was very windy and conditions here are still soft so all balls hold the green when they hit. Not sure whether to go buy another dozen or 2 at that price or not.
  8. Ogio Ozone stand bag - Red. From Dick's
  9. My favorite is Steve Stricker. He is my age and University of Illinois Alum. I also really like Phil, he has a great personality and is very good with the fans. One person I would have really liked to see more of was Payne Stewart; he was one of my favorites while he was still with us.
  10. Entered. Thanks!
  11. My current bag is a Callaway in Army digital camo. It was a special Birdies for Charities edition. When I purchased it I was playing Callaway irons, now I'm playing Taylor Made irons. The bag is a cart bag. I would like a nice stand bag but I love the Army camo being retired Army.
  12. I have several goals for this season: 1. Work on enforcing what I learned the end of last season in some lessons 2. Play at minimum once a week as soon as the courses open 3. Work on consistency with my driver 4. Emphasize working on my 150 yard and in game
  13. I'm an IT Security Analyst specializing in SAP for a company that makes nice green tractors, mowers, golf course maintenance equipment and construction and forestry equipment. It has a leaping deer as the company logo.
