  1. I played the Forged Pro Combos for about 6 months. The biggest issue for me was the size of the soles. They did have a bigger sweet spot than the TW Blades (obviously), but I liked the blades 1000 times better. The MP's are also a top favorite of mine. When it comes down to it, ask yourself these questions: which club gives you the most pleasure and which club do you have the hardest time putting down? Good luck!
  2. Nice! Anything to add confidence to your putting stroke is a pure WIN! Without confidence, the "yips" are inevitable.
  3. Alright, prepare yourself.........I picked up some head covers for my blades.........yes, I know how most people feel about them, but I'm sick and tired of my blades gettin jacked up. What can I say, I like to keep my equipment in good shape.
  4. I have tried/demoed several shafts and still haven't found one that I like better than my Harrison Pro 2.5Ti (see sig). Yes, it is a hideous fluorescent yellow, but it is the most consistent that I have been able to find. Sometimes it almost feels like the harder you swing, the straighter it will go...which is nice
  5. In my mind, this is the best bag out there. Comfy to carry and a lot pockets for you goodies including an insulated cooler pocket. Even has a water proof pocket for your water sensitive accessories. It also has very convieniently positioned handles.
  6. These will be my next pair of golf shoes. Several friends have them and say they are he best they've owned.
  7. Nice! Now it's Friday so we will need an update on the purchase. It's always nice getting items in the mail that aren't bills.
  8. Ask and you shall receive....
  9. Hahaha you're right. Kinda got off topic. Back on topic... Personally, I think the Titleist and Cleveland drivers are some of the best that I have used.
  10. 100% agree! Out of all the drivers you can demo, there might be 1 or 2 that you really like. Once you get to that point, find a good shaft.
  11. I have only owned two sets of clubs outright (when I was a youngster). Since then, I have played nothing but hand-me-downs and used equipment. That being said, here we go... Golf Bag: I won in a tournament Driver: my Dad won in a tournament, couldn't hit it, then gave it to me, I re-shafted it for $10 installed 3-wood: my Dad bought it, didn't like it, then gave it to me...sensing a pattern here? Irons: my Dad upgraded and gave me his Nike Forged Pro Combos...I in turn, sold them for $275 then picked up the blades for $275 Wedges: Bday & Xmas gifts about 4 years ago Putter: one of the 19 putters my Dad owns. We switch them in and out all the time depending on if they've been good or bad to us. LOL I realize I am a very fortunate individual. My father eats, sleeps and breaths this game, as do I. I also think he might have an "issue" with buying golf equipment, but I'm not gonna start complaining now.
  12. Hahaha, that was great! But heads up...don't want to lose any hall passes.
  13. +1 Absolutely right! The Hagen's are a great deal for the price, but if you plan on furthering your game, you will probably need to upgrade relatively soon. That being said, you can find a lot of very good used sets of clubs on CL and eBay around the $150 mark so don't just limit yourself to the 990's.
  14. That's a tough decision. I really like Odyssey putters, but a Scotty is a Scotty Which one do you like better at address? I've never felt all that comfortable at address with Cameron putters (call me crazy, I know). I've played with four different Odyssey putters though because I love the feel and look at address. Good luck with your decision.
  15. No "cool" purchases lately. I did buy a golfers elbow strap the other day though...it was quite exciting!
  16. You can upgrade whenever you'd like. Typically, once the grooves start going south on your lofted irons is when you should definitely start looking for a new set. If you can see yourself continuing to further your game and are committed to getting better, then by all means, go for it!
  17. Thanks! Right back atcha...
  18. Those are some great wedges too! Call me crazy, but I have played Titleist, Cleveland, Nike and Taylor Made wedges and they ALL felt great! This go around, I've decided to go back to the Cleveland's. My .02
  19. I would have to say most blades look stunning IMO. However, I think the Nike Forged Blades are the best looking clubs I've seen to date...I may be biased though
  20. ^ Words to live by! Like mentioned above, you can find a lot of good shafts out there for under $50 let alone $100. I would definitely recommend you demoing a bunch of driver/shaft options. There are so many good manufactures out there. It would be even better if you had a shop near you with a doppler setup in their fitting area. That way you can see club head speed, ball speed/spin, trajectory etc.
  21. Great set of clubs! My brother had a set for years, and when he wasn't swinging them, I would take'em out. The only issue I had with them was that I thought they might have been a tad on the soft side. The groves wore out a little sooner than I would have expected.
  22. I've always had good experiences with GG. They are always super friendly and willing to help. My .02
