Wow. Valley.... sheesh. :-O

I've been scouring the posts to see if I could find info on the "eaiest" putter for high-handicappers. I know it's a matter of feel however, I hear there are other factors such as where the shaft is located, length, type of head, weighting etc. My gf has a TM ghost mallet because she thought it "looked cool" and has been struggling since day one with it. We have been told that the insert on the face makes the ball come off the face "too hot" when she is within 10 or so feet. I know it's about stroke as well but, the pattern is the same no matter if she hits the ball well or not. Any help is appreciated. Gotta pick a new one up by this weekend Thanks! M

Hybrid Shopping in 2 weeks
surfnspy replied to ballemore1029's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm a 25.1 index and have a hard time with hybrids. I hate to say but, I have tried them all. Recently, I got an Adams Tech V3 (reported to be the easiest to hit) and am having some luck. It feels amazing when you make contact! The ball just goes forever! Very satisfying! I have better luck in the rough than from the fairway??? The (regular flex) shaft feels a little "whippy" but that's about it. Hope this helps! -
I say if you like it get it. Personally, I don't have the strong reaction others do about the white color but it looks like in the right hands it's quite a driver.

Mizuno JPX-800...Anyone have them?
surfnspy replied to DannyB215's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I originally hit the JPX800 and was hooked. I am a 20 handicap so the JPX800 was a fit numbers-wise. Interestingly enough, during my fitting, the Mizuno rep suggested I consider the PRO's as I play 2-3 times per week and am committed to getting better. He told me there will be a "learning curve" and I'll grow into them and will actually benefit over time. Never having or knowing about what a forged club does and nothing with the word "PRO" in it and knowing the handicap-rating ceiling was 16 I was kinda nervous about it. After 2 rounds I can hit the PRO's pretty well. They don't have the distance on less-than-perfect hits but, they feel more "accurate?" and don't sting your hands on a thin hit. I had the '09 Burners and could hit them a country mile but often miss the intended target. The JPX800PRO's kinda "go where you want them to" if that makes sense??? Also, I changed up the shafts to a KBS stiff from a regular flex DG. I noticed the ball flies at a lower trajectory almost right at the target. I kinda like it as opposed to the high ball flight I had before. Until I become more familiar with the clubs, I'm choosing a club higher on the short grass and a club lower in the thick grass when hitting. It seems to be working. I look forward to getting used to these as I feel they will definitely help me get better :-) -
Bought my new gear! Tell me how I did.

What is the brand of your Driver shaft ?
surfnspy replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
$300 sounds a little more reasonable. At the time of my fitting Roger Dunn was asking $499 for the DI-6s. Do you get shaft upgrades for less $$ directly from the club manufacturer when place your order? -
I had the same experience with the 2.0 and the JPX. I ordered a set of JPX's based on the tighter dispersion :)

I have spoken to some better players who aren't really attached to the TM brand but, they all had nothing but good things to say about the R11in terms of feel and performance. There are mixed feelings about the white paint though???

The Diamana Kai'li that came with My D2. When I was being fitted and hit the Graphite Design DI-6s. It felt a little better but at $500 bucks I couldn't pull the trigger. The good news is that Kai'li works well for me. They say stock shafts aren't as good as aftermarket shafts but, I think Titleist Kai'li comes pretty close. -
+1! Good Lord that R15 is funny! Kudos to the Photoshop wizardry!

The D2 (9.5*) was the first Titleist driver I ever hit and I hit it well. It blew my other driver away on the launch monitor and in feel. I mean majorly! Not to mention, the stock Kai'li worked great for me and feels really smooth. The closest aftermarket shaft according to the numbers was the Graphite Design AD DI-6s (almost dead even). After making an adjustment (C-4) it got better. Being a high handicapper, this driver gives me confidence and the straightest ball flight I've ever had

+1 nailed it!

I kinda like it. A lot of people are comparing it to the white Cobra ZL.

I read some great advice here at the Sandtrap saying to get fitted for a shaft(s) and then go shop for clubs. Having made a $300 mistake by buying wrong shafts (Oban Devotion 6 3flex - 1, 3 wood) based on my own "research" I decided to get fitted by a pro before buying the wrong shafts again. Being extremely interested in the Titleist 910 D2 I took my driver to the Titleist fitting facility and was provided an overwhelming amount of potential shaft options. I started with my driver on the launch monitors and watched in horror as the trajectory lines were going everywhere just like on the golf course. After hitting 10 balls I was presented with the D2 and was purposely trying not to pay attention to the shaft. My first hit with the D2 felt great! (I gotta hand it to Titleist for the sound at contact!!!!) The only thing I noticed was the shaft was dark blue. Hm? I hit 9 more and noticed the trajectory lines were getting closer and closer together and had a nice roll-out at the end. Excited, I was given another choice and repeated the tight trajectory lines. The technician then adjusted the club head to a C-4. Instantly, the numbers were almost in alignment with the feeling of the first shaft that felt great. He then put the first shaft back on with the same club head adjustment (C-4). He was impressed with the numbers in relation with spin, launch angle, and tight dispersion. He said either shaft seemed to be performing well for me. He continued to set up different shafts and I continued to do my best to not look at the shaft brand. I began to hit the ball erratically compared to the previous two shafts. After nearly an hour, we narrowed it down to the two shafts that were a "match" for me. It was an almost dead heat between the stock 64g Diamana Kai'li for Titelist and the 65g Graphite Design Tour AD DI-6. Both were stiff flex. He said there was no reason to pay the up-charge for the Graphite Design ($145 I think?). He said I was hitting the stock offering just as well. Truth be told, the stock shaft may have felt a bit better. He went on to say if you wanted the exact shaft there is a $299 MSRP. Having had a great experience I have a question that I forgot to ask... since both shafts share the same characteristics in regard to flex point, weight, stiffness and torque, is this my shaft "profile?" Meaning... if a shaft shares these above traits will it work for me as a "rule?" or, get fit no matter what when shopping for a new club(s)? Thank you in advance for your help! PS - For those on the fence or doubt the benefits of getting fitted, don't waste money on thinking you can figure it out.

Another +1 on the Adams Super Hybrid. Picked up a used 15* with a Matrix Altus shaft and cracked the very first shot 220 yards (straight) with not that much effort. Confidence club for sure. The sound and feel really are pleasing to the senses Highly Recommended!

Scotty Cameron Fastback, Squareback or DelMar?
surfnspy replied to SuperSonic's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have the Squareback 1 with two 20 weights. It was a special order "Extra Heavy" that the guy ended up not wanting and I scored a deal on it. I have used it for a year and the better my putting stroke is the more I enjoy it. -
How good is Matrix Ozik shaft?

Win! Holy sh*t! I have never seen a setup that cool before! Aren't the white shafts like $999??? How badass does that R9 look! -
Hybrids: Ping G15 v. Ping i15
surfnspy replied to Danny Noonan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
OH MAN! I love the G15's! I am a high handicapper and I must say that these clubs have saved my a*s many times. I originally bought one when they first came out after reading the reviews about the clubs' foregiveness. After taking it out ONE round I was convinced I couldn't play it based on a review I read the night before my round in which many people said it was ugly and just plain dumb looking. I promptly traded it in for a Baffler TWS feeling like I had made the right move by getting a more "conventional?" and traditional looking club. Well, that didn't work as I struggled to hit that club consistently. Rethinking my impulse transaction I decided to repurchase the G15 and have it shafted like my irons. WOW! The result was immediate. If you play them like an iron they really deliver. I have the 4, 3, 2 iron replacement G15's (17*, 20*, 23*) with Dynamic Gold SL R300's. Since I'm not a good wood or long iron hitter I rely on these clubs a lot. For us high handicappers... they are an "equalizer" of sorts. I could go on so I'll leave it at 3 words... Function Before Fashion! If you can get over the looks you will be rewarded Good luck!
