  1. He definitely grounded the club, especially before he even set up. But that should not be declared a bunker. Very unfortunate for Dustin Johnson and he deserves a chance to win this tournament.
  2. I'm sure that not everyone will agree with me, which all of this is just my opinion. I'm not for sure if this has been posted, I just got out of class and am too lazy to read everything, but when you really think about it, why are curse words, actually curse words? They changes every generation and with where you live in the world. Look at ass for example, and why do people thing of a butt today, when it used to mean a donkey? Damn is was used in the Bible of all places, and ass was too, with the definition of a donkey in mind. There is no written rule on what words that are "bad" to say. Why are only certain words considered "curse" words? I had teachers in high school that didn't let their kids say shut up! I mean what in the hell is going on? If a player wants to curse then let them. I'm sure everybody has said something "bad" at some point in time and like a poster said on the first page, BFD.
  3. Tiger is of course the greatest of this time, but he is not as great as Jack YET! I believe that if he can regain even half of his old from(which would still be better than most everybody in the history of the game) and he wins some more tounaments, especially majors, then I will have absolutely no problem calling Tiger the greatest. But because Jack has more majors and wins, he is the greatest. If you were to ask who was the greatest from the time they were 21-mid 30's. Then it would be Tiger, but of all time? Not yet.
  4. Shot a 81 yesterday afternoon. 43 on the front and 38 back. The front of my course is a little bit harder and not quite as open but I still always have more problems with it.
  5. Shot a 80 this afternoon, 41 out, 39 in. I only hit 8 fairways and 2(two)(dos) greens in regulation! Yes, I will repeat again, only 2! My irons were beyond terrible. But fortunately my putting as been almost perfect. Today I only needed 23 putts which was amazing and by far my best putting ever.
  6. I second the mp 67s. They are my first mizuno irons and will take a lot for me not get mizunos next time. I believe whether someone goes with the 67, 68, 52, or 62 they can't go wrong.
  7. I agree that a 3 iron is pretty easy to hit. I quite often take it of the tee especially when my driver is not doing so well. I love hit it when others take their driver off the tee and I hit it just as far. With my new irons I've about decided to get a 2 iron. For the op, if you haven't decided yet I personally would go for the 3, if you believe you can hit it. Use it to lay up to your perfect approch distance or take it over the water on that par 5.
  8. I don't care to go read what started been yall with the last few post but would someone lead by example at drop it? About the OP. I'll give my few cents. As others have said, both parties were wrong. Today I played with two friends, which one rarely plays and the other has just started, while I've played all my life. Having played with my father growing up has taught me a lot about being patient. Back to today, the friend who just started hit probably over 150 shots, plus he dropped and hit a second most every time. My patience was tested but I just laugh it off. While playing in school tourneys I spent most of my time waiting on others ahead of me that end up shooting 120. Over time I have learned to not let it effect me mentally, although it does physically as I do get stiff sometimes. The course I normally play at has no marshals so your left to hoping if you do get behind somebody that they are generous enough to let you through. I wasn't there so I can't say be for sure exactly what happened and who said what and what was being thought, but one thing is for sure, you can act as you like but don't expect to be respected. If you take your time and enjoy the GAME of golf and I believe you will actually be rewarded for that, wether it in your play or its of the course. Patience, no matter how long you have to wait, is a virtue.
  9. Last week shot a 82 at a fairly short course, around 6300 from the blue tee's. Today I played at a different one, around 6600 yards, shot a 80 with a 44 on the front and a 36 on the back. It was my first round with my new fairway woods and irons.
  10. Played yesterday from the blues at the local public course. I was on the first par 5 and I hit a beautiful drive probably 300 yards (don't know exactly). My second shot was from right at 200 yards. You have to go across water and the a bunker right in front of the green, pin mid-back. I take a light 7 wood... hits about 5ft in front of the pin and rolls to about 15ft past. Of course I miss the eagle but I do birdie.
  11. What is a drill I can use to stop from going past the point of being parallel at the top of my swing. I had a friend joke that I almost had the club head touch the ground on my back swing. I do this more with my driver. My left elbow is also bent but I've been trying to keep it straighter.
  12. This past Saturday I shot 83 (+11). I was 7 over after 15 but bogied out. I pulled a stupid 3' putt on 15 for par and didn't care after that. I was pleased with this round beacuse only two weeks earlier I thought about quiting golf and I do not play this course but maybe twice a year. The two weeks earlier I was refering to is I was playing in the state high school championship. Let's just say our team didn't do to well but the course... Well I have never played on greens that fast and we played from the black tees(which shouldn't have mattered that much). The first day I shoot 91, not happy but I was understanding due to the conditions. The second day I shot the worst I did all year with a 106! I was not confident with any club in my bag and sliced and chunked most oft shots. I had 3 snowmen(shot an 8 on par 4s). After a while I couldn't wait to leave.
  13. Keep your swing slow and smooth. Probably heard this before but keep your head down and your knees bent. I have a slower swing compared to most but I still outdrive most I play with, around 280 yards. I think a lot of disance is more contact then how hard you swing.
  14. I have never thought play “virtual” holes on the range. I try to use it to work on swing mechanics, practice my different shots like a few cuts and draws, and become more consistent. On days I have tournaments (high school) I use it to warm up and for feel. I start by pitching 40 yards to a green then working up through my clubs hitting 3-4 balls with each club. When the season started I was chunking all my iron shots, literally all. I hit buckets of ball with my irons and I eventually got the muscle memory back. Since you can hit on the range, it is all mental out on the course. Probably a stupid question but do you take a few practice swings or do you look at the fairway or flag and just hit? One thing that has really helped me is I step back and when I take practice swings I visualize exactly what I want to do (all about confidence!). Doesn’t always happen, like sticking it 3ft. from the pin, but definitely helped with contact. Probably some of these lower handicap players can speak to that. Nuck81. Don’t ever, ever let somebody rush you. Let them through if necessary(I hate doing it) but take your time and enjoy some golf. I’m not saying take 10 minutes on a shot but don’t play at somebody else's pace if you can help it, it really pisses me off if I can’t play at a my pace.
  15. 1) Getting pure contact with scoring irons. 2) Sinking those pesky 15 ft. putts. 3) Short chips within 10 yds where I can't use bump and run.
