Looks like John will make his second cut of the year! He fired a -1 in round one of the Nissan and a +1 in round two. Todays round was a little shaky though with 3 birds, 2 bogeys and a double. I hope he can hold it together......cheers

Well now, I heard on a national radio sports program last night that Tiger skipped the Nissan so he could attend Michael Jordon's NBA all-star party in Vegas this weekend.

You may be able to buy a links pass since you'll be part of the university. If you can, you will be able to play golf a lot cheaper than everyone else. The Old Course has a block of tee times reserved for students from St. Andrews U. You may want to read "2 years in St. Andrews" by George Peper it will tell you all you want to know about the towne and all the quirks of the old course. Good Luck!

Damn, I wish I wasn't such a hardcore Hogan Fan. I have never allowed myself to try other clubs. I can't really participate in discussions about different clubs. It's like having only made love to one woman. I'm going out to Golf Galaxy and hit everything on the rack. (I'll probably leave with a new set of Hogans)

I did some research and found this great article by Erik.... http://thesandtrap.com/extras/tap-in..._going_strong/

I'm still trying to figure out that multi-qoute thing. Your right, my line of work is in quality assurance. I know Nike dosen't have the best product on the market, not by a long shot. I just think they have the machine to drive the market. They have the worlds #1 player in Tiger, colorful clubs and tons of money to push their line to a new and young audience entralled with Tiger mania. Milk, I hate milk. there is no competition here, you either drink it or you don't Different kinds of ads appeal to different kinds of people... Your absolutely right here too. People stick with their brand. I'm a huge fan of Hogan products even though they are not the most exciting line but I think their products are great because I respect the legacy of the great Ben Hogan. If your a Nike fan you probably love the ad but if your a Callaway guy you probably skip right over it. Yeah, they don't own the market now... but check back when these 20 somethings are in their 40's and Tiger is holding 25 majors. They'll be on top. Maybe even if their product is not superior. Will I own a set? never. I'll still be playing my old Hogan Radials and telling everyone how great Ben Hogan was. I guess I'm just like the 20 somethings and their #1 player with his Nike clubs. Does anyone have sales figures on the different golf manufacturers? This would be interesting to compare over the next few years.

Let's face it, we're not the dominate force in any sport except for football. Look at what is happening to the US basketball team. And in baseball they call it the "World Series" when they would struggle with the better teams from Japan and south american countries. I like to see the foreign players. I think this was influenced by Bobby Jones and his invitations to the Masters. He always invitated players from around the globe. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

I don't want freaky backspin. I have just the right amount of spin now. I just wanted to know how in the hell Kenny G has backspin like a circus clown.

My lineup is set for the Nissan. Isn't it nice to have a list of GOOD golfers to choose from? My team should rock, if it don't, I'll eat that fancy new hat. lol

Did you get your March copy of Golf Magazine yet? Check out the Nike ad on the first page. This is a great, informative ad. They show the product on the left page and then tell you why you want it and need it on another full page on the right. They talk about Geometry and the "moment of inertia" and how they switched from the traditional titanium crown to a multi-material composite to maximize the shape without going over the 460cc limit. They tell you about the powerbow and the resistance to twisting and how your off-center shot will now go down the fairway instead of 350 yards into the woods. The diagrams in the ad are very nice and figure 2 really shows the advantage of the square design. A very nice ad indeed. Then turn to pages 14-15 for the Callaway ad. It's a two page ad that just says hey, our club goes straight...buy it. Nike may not produce the best clubs on the market but they sure kick ass in the marketing department. Give them a little more time and they will own the golf market, clubs, apparel and balls, if they already don't.

As Erik Barzeski pointed out ealier, he is trying to reconcile with wife #4 which will not help his golf game at all. His personal life is still a mess. He needs to get his weight under control and this might be a great time to change that back breaking swing of his into a more fluid and reliable swing. I'm still pulling for him and it's starting to feel like my love affair with the Raiders. I love them too even though I know they SUCK!

No, Tiger is not copping out. He is fortunate enough to play the schedule he wants and still have the personal time he needs to be with family and be involved in business ventures and personal projects that fulfill his personal happiness. He can play a third of the events that most will play and still walk away with a shiny Fedex Cup throphy and a cool $10 million. He has the best of both worlds!

Would you pay $450 to play Pebble? I know I would and will if I ever make it out there. Check out this link http://www.golfonline.com/golfonline...586737,00.html

Damn, I thought I had a good team this week but I managed to fall from 3rd to 5th. I guess all the guys that made it to the top of the leaderboard all had Phil on their team. I see underparnv got his wish as he helped to de-throne Barzeski's Bombers. Here is how the top ten looks after the AT&T...; 1. Fairways + Greens 2. Nevada Blackjacks 3. BirdieBoyz 4. Barzeski Bombers 5. Hogan Fan 6. Tar Dogs 7. Waddell Whiffers 8. No Messin W/ my Sasquatch 9. Thrash Talker 10. P24L Driver Aside

My what a difference a couple of weeks have made. I'm enjoying the broadcast now, it has improved greatly. Are they broadcasting in HD yet? I plan to have an HD tv before the Masters.

(Speaking in a voice like Clint Eastwood) I'm glad it's over....The tournament and the misunderstanding. How about Tom Watson, not bad for 57 yrs old. How much is it anyway to play Pebble Beach? Damn fine course!

Well by now I'm regretting my previous posts in this thread. Maybe I reacted too quickly or I'm being too sensitive. I did suffer through some of the coverage and I think Danny Ganns actually annoyed himself. This is why I think one of these events is enough. Wouldn't you guys like to see a serious game from the good celebrity golfers played during the AT&T.; There are some pretty good golfers among them. Tom Brady looked very good for not having played. He said this week was the first time he has played in 8 months.

The 1 most inportant tip you can give
Hogan Fan replied to Juancd75's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree, my advice is to take more club and ease into a nice tempo. When I'm overdoing it and trying to kill it, I try to think of Els' tempo. It's not how fast or hard you hit it, it's more about how clean you catch it. -
Another missed cut by John, that's 3 out of 4 this year!
-
ipark, I think maybe you should have included Tiger himself on the poll because I believe he is the only one who can stop him. If he decides to win, he will win regardless of the other competitors in the field.

Just keep your post in the spirit of good fun.

Thats great if you like them and want to watch but don't personally attack those with opinions different from yours!!!! I'm not going to attack you because you feel different than I. Have a good time watching the tournament, I think I will watch my collection of tournaments. Thanks for the idea.

our boy will need a bottle of JD tonight. He started todays round with a bogey then a par followed by 5 straight bogeys! 6 bogeys out of 7 holes! OUCH!

What do you guys think of kelly now that she's on your tv every week now? I would change my vote to average, maybe a six. She's a good broadcaster she's just not got to have her hot.
