  1. Guess what? Your gonna have hundreds more of them by looking at your age. You could be stuck in Afghanistan? Try looking at the bright of things.
  2. I like the rule, and I like the call.
  3. I cut my driver down to 43.5" from 45" and added a few pieces of lead tape. I'm back to hitting my little cut/fade. 45 inches was way too much shaft length for my long arms adding to the error of margin.
  4. Went up about 1.2......... played 4-5 rounds since June 1st, and posted rounds in the low to mid 80's. Too hot to play here in the summer. I play the majority of my golf between Sept. - May
  5. Worst players dont win majors. They were all great on that given day.
  6. 1. Bobby Locke 2. Tie ...... with Jack & Tiger .....both made putts when it counted almost always. 3. Ben Crenshaw 4. Watson in his heyday.
  7. Bad start for Virginia Tech this year.
  8. Tiger not winning in 2011..... LOL ........... Cmon. He's not finished. The Master is coming up in April and that course belongs to Phil and Tiger.
  9. I dont know who does the over and under for the betting parlors, but they need a new day job. I saw this Cincy beating coming. These new backs and safeties for New England are very fast. I dont think New england has the same problem in those positions like they did last year. I am more afraid of a good running team against New england than a mediocre Cincy passing threat. Cincy is way overrated in my opinion.
  10. You just proved my point. Your still trying the same shots with a better swing as you did with a worse swing. Must have been fun watching you with the bad one.......... or funny.
  11. 12........ my driver has been a ass lately, so Its in the garage.
  12. I met my wife on the golf course. I was supposed to be going to a wedding with her that day............ she was pissed.
  13. If course marshalls were instructed to recognize and enforce reasonable play time, things might be a little better at some courses. I have been to a few courses where the marshalls were on our asses when we were the ones waiting on every shot. I have been to other courses that were really backed up and the marshalls were mostly ball hunting.
  14. I played a course in West Africa and was going to hire a caddy, the caddy turned to be a good player and the course was empty, so I asked the pro if I could just have the caddy play with me, and he agreed. We were having a great time and sipping a couple of beers. We got to the 11th hole and he had to "take care of business" in the bushes. He wasnt in there 3 seconds before he came running back out saying that there was a dead guy in there. I walked over.......and sure enough, there was a body lying there all sliced up. Not cool........ round ended.
  15. I know quite a few that dont shank, chili dip, blade, and chunk. They play stupid by trying to over power the course,... playing the shortest club possible, Drivers with 9 degree loft and stiff shafts, trying to loft 60 degrees wedges when a simple 7 iron chip would do better, trying to carry a hazard instead of playing around it, Buying a game instead of practicing, etc. etc. It all comes down to decision making? Not wanting to practice is also a decision. I am a great example...... I dont practice and I sitting at a 10. So be it.
  16. The golfers most of you are refering to are mostly extreme newbies. Yeah... I might also point a newbie towards a basic lesson or two myself. The average 18 handicap player is pretty close to the national average. You cannot be a 18 handicap without grooving some sort of swing... whether it is good swing or bad. On course decision making is every bit as important to being a better golfer as 90% of these forum swing lessons going on.
  17. But everyone said the same thing about Jack. Everyone back in the late 80's said that the competiton was too steep for another 18 major winner. Nobody saw Tiger coming.
  18. The overall jest of the article was to use common sense. (Play around your weakness)
  19. Not sure. I stumbled across it on ezine one day and saved the link.
  20. My golf season is just starting. I play a few rounds in the summer, but its too hot for me. I play 2-4 times a week from September - May. I grew up in Maine, so the mild winter weather in Virginia Beach is pretty nice for me
  21. I actually got that tip from a golf magazine on a article about Tom Watson and wet play at the British Open . The tip won me the Navy regionals one year (1985) as we played in 2 days of solid rain. I have had players contest my using the hanky a few times in tournaments. I never said a word, and let them go cry to the officials.
  22. Hoffman was fun to watch last weekend.
  23. Nobody on this forum could fix you without actually seeing what your normal swing looks like to begin with. Early hips without the hands and arms catching up could be the culprit though. Seeing that it was your first match, and mayby you were a tad nervous............. seems logical. The big muscles tend to take over under stress with some players. Just try to relax and enjoy the competition. Your a 8.6, so I think you could probably fix yourself in the next few matches as your comfort level grows.
  24. This article explains how to keep things simple. While you are developing your swing, you can also learn how to play . It is a very good article, and full of common sense. http://ezinearticles.com/?Golf-Strat...-90&id;=1031955
  25. There ya go Shanks! Thats what I see every week also, but you just might be on a different plane.
