The Titleist AP2 iron is amazing, and I absolutely love mine. They cut like butter when you catch them right, and have a surprising amount of forgiveness, something that will always help. I can work them consistantly both ways, and they look great at address, and I would buy the exact same set I bought 5 months ago if you gave me $600 dollars today. I had my coach throw in a new shaft in my burner 5 wood head. Driver club head speed for myself is about 103 but im not sure if that means anything at all. Anyways, he threw a Fujikara shaft and the flex said "R2" right next to it. He did everything for free and said he tipped the shaft an inch and told me that it would play just under a stiff, which fits my swing speed. So my question is, what does "tipping" a shaft mean??? I would have to guess he took an inch away somewhere on the shaft, and most likely not at the butt of the club... So how would you do that at the opposite end??? Doesn't the shaft get thicker as you progress towards the grip?? Ahhhhhhhh oh well. I should probably be questioning other things :)))

The improved durability is true, as stated in the "fact" column of the link I have provided. As for the shredding, Vokey's are rediculous and they will continue to chew any mid-high spin ball apart. I guess if you pay for the spin milled, you shall get all the spin you desire. :DDD The shredding was the main reason that I replaced all of my Vokeys. There are other sensible solutions that won't rip balls to shreds.

titleist ap2 for sure. they look great and feel even better. i got 3-pw new with S300 for $600. just takes patience. highly recommended a must hit.

I have confirmed that Titleist will be releasing a new version of at least the ProV1 and ProV1x this Spring. My coach works with Titleist and has some sort of club and ball deal with them and gave me a free sleeve of the brand new 2011 series ProV1. At first glance it looks the exact same as the previous model, except for the new font titled "" on the sides. The sleeve that I recieved came in a white box, with a sticker titled ProV1 that someone quickly slapped onto the side. I haven't played with one yet, mostly because they look so good and I am afraid of losing one. I will try to get some pics up in between school days so you can see for yourself if maybe there is a new dimple design or something. the chew up balls so fast its a joke. Even when though mine is over a year old it will still destroy a ProV1 with ease. They feel good sure, but if I ever hit a low spinner, the ball is gone.

most underrated wedges are the Scratch wedges. The 8620 is amazing. i just got the 56 wiht the D/S grind. Wowow..

Yesterday I was at a Golf Mart with my mom getting my dad a new wedge for Christmas when my mom told me to come to her. She introduced me to a Taylormade rep that was visiting. Along with him he brought the new Superfast 2.0 driver, the much anticipated and already reviewed R11, and a new hybrid. I didn't get to hit any of these clubs, but my friends got a R11 that I don't care for. The new Superfast 2.0 was all white, with some lame decals on the top of the head, which I didn't care for at all. The face on the 2.0 is a smoked out color much like the Superfast TP. The new hybrid I didn't get to look at but I did catch a glance at it and it is also white. Apparently Taylormade is debuting most of their new clubs at the tournament out here at Torrey Pines early in the year. He said they will have 40-60 of these drivers in play, a staggering number that I cannot quite believe. He did say that the drivers will be available to the public early February (i think) and the woods and hybrids later in March. Keep your eyes open for pictures, I'm sure he would have had to kill me if I took some :D. Stay warm, Whitey.

For the user looking for cheaper courses in the area, I would recommend Del Monte. It's owned my Pebble Beach Golf Links (the same group that owns Spyglass Spanish and Pebble). And my home course is Torrey Pines, and I felt it had a very similar feel too it. It did not "wow" me but the trees on the back nine were very very cool. Ive got the scorecard right in front of me and its not a long course, playing 6365 from blues, 6052 from whites and 5429 from reds. I shot 42-37 from the whites during August, not too shabby for a 13 year old either. The one hole that I remember is the 15th. Huge twisted trees on both sides of the fairway. I think the cost for a prime tee time during the week was something around $125, so I will stick to my Torrey Pines for now. Heard great things from the guy I played with about all the courses in the area. I bet youre hardpressed to find one you don't like. When I went up there I visited Pebble, Spyglass and Spanish, all in one day. Pebble felt spiritual, and just rolling putts on the practice green was enough for me! Spyglass was my absolute favorite. It was a gloomy, foggy day and the mossy trees that hung over the first tee were calling my name. I got some great pictures and a towel that I use, and maybe I will make it up there with my dad when I turn 16. Either that or I will be driving myself up! ;) Spanish bay looked pretty similar to Pebble in my eye. I walked the first hole and I found all the undulations and ditches in the fairway very strange, probably due to the fact that Torrey is flat for the most part. Spanish had a nice practice facility, made me wish I brought my wedge. Can't wait to make my trip up there someday. I love hearing all the stories.

I used the Callaway XJ set and it was a good set for me. Lasts until you reach about 4 feet 10 inches. I would highly recommend.

I dont use a 3 wood because I can only hit it about 5 yards farther than a 5 wood. So i just carry a 18* degree 5 wood and then a 21* 3 iron.

The 909H feels dead? Yeah, I don't really know why either. I hit my friends 19* yesterday, and it is a nice piece, but it feels somewhat "clank-y" off of the face, and I prefer it to sound like a wood. Sorta hard to explain... . . .. . .

I was looking into these. I like the idea of the more compact head, but I am yet to hear how it performs out of the fairway. (Not saying im always there :D ) I like the look of it, but haven't hit it yet. Has anyone used one from the fairway, and would you reccommend it? It has been made pretty obvious that it is easy to hit out of the rough, but only a personal demo will sell me on this.

I would highly recommend the Titleist 710 AP2's. They look similar to a blade from adress, but have more forgiveness than say Mizuno blades, or the Titleist MB and CB's. You should definately try them out if you can. I got 3-PW new off ebay for $600. Plenty of nice used sets for $450-$550. Best of luck.

Hey all, was wondering if anyone could recommend a hybrid that they like. I only have a few mandatory specs: i want it to feel hot off the face (NOT "dead" like the 909h) i want it to look like a 909h, or burner rescue, not like an iron with a back end (NOT like G15 hybrid) i want it to have mid launch i was hoping to get it with ~20* of loft and stiff graphite shaft. Im looking for a club to fit my gap in between 18* wood(195 yds) and 21* iron(175 yds). Thanks for all replies

Just ordered one for myself a couple days ago. Traded in a set of Burner XD's I got a year ago (bought for $220) and Tayloramde preowned gave me $270 for the set. Anyways I got a 8.5 with the Matrix Ozik HD6 stiff, and 3 new gloves for my old set that I don't use anymore. I like the low spin that the driver produces. I have always liked it when I can get some roll with my driver, and I found the Superfast TP allows me to get some 10 yards or so of roll, compared to my current FT-9. It should be here today for Monday, and I wouldn't be surprised if my Dad didn't give it to me until Christmas, even if I have the Junior Amateur in 3 weeks. Can't wait for it to get here, nice stick for my eye and stick.

I play three different wedges because they provide me with the characteristics I need. My 52 plays like one of my irons and allows my to hit a low pitch shot with spin. My 56 has very little grooves, and it allows me to change the trajectory and allow it to roll out. My 60 is used as a special shot club, and it spins like nothing you have ever seen. So what, I like them all. I don't get the point of having a spin milled pitching wedge........ Oh wait, just posing a question.

Dentman just said about everything I was going to. When I switched to a Pro Platinum from a White Hot Rossie, it took me (personally) 3 months to get completely used to it and have full confidence. At the start it felt much different looking down on a putter that was a blade, and also had a plumbers neck on it. But now, I have no complaints and I love the switch. I think that you should go out to the putting green as much as possible, even if it is indoors. I would also reccommend keeping your old Sabertooth for a while, just in case the Scotty isn't your friend for whatever reason. You should make sure it is the perfect length for you and that you put a nice grip on it, and then you shall be in business. (try a midsize grip- i was suprised how much I liked it) Best of luck.
