cool.. so with say a 4h, around 22*. what do you guys find to be the average carry vs roll? i.e. for my PW, i usually carry 1/4, and roll 3/4 of total distance AW 1/3, 2/3 SW more towards 1/2 for a Hybrid? like 10% carry, 90% roll? or?

I don't get ESC either.. The example is always.. if someone shoots par for 17 holes, and takes a 18 over on the 18th.. they're a bogey golfer. but they dont' record 18.. ok. how is that different than someone who's +1 on each hole.. ? why would the first guy have a lower handicap? If he's better.. shouldn't he be able to avoid an 18 over on a hole? just curious. still learningthe game..

Just wondering when you would chip with a hybrid? (assuming you WOULD do it). I've read people use a hybrid of FW to chip.. wasn't sure in what kind of position, lie, pin placement etc would you use this? why hybrid and not say a 5 iron? thanks!!

i actually just went through this.. driver = 250-260 added a 4H = 200-210 i dont' have a 3H, but got a 5W that goes 220-230.. in your case.. a wood that goes 220-230, with MORE CONTROL, and less risk than a driver would make sense?

The teachings i refer to is - go to the "reading room" forum.. Of all the books discussed there about 'technical' golf (i.e. not the mental side). can you tell me one where they say for the short game, use only 1 club? (except putter)? I'm not saying using one is right or wrong. .like someone mentioned.. enjoyment is not only the key, it's everything. but to answer your question, that's what i meant by 'teachings'. I don't think for every 1 person who teaches you to use several wedges, you're going to find 1 person who teaches you to hit everything inside 50 using 1 club only (again except putter)? just learnin'. :)

yah but they're not new though.. but out of 100, at least 90 are completely playable.. there were 5 or so X-out ones.. i emailed customer service and they sent me a 6 pack of replacements.. so all good :)

When you say easier, do you mean easier as in not having to go to cart, and pull out new club.. thus time to chug the Coors Light? or easier as in you score better?? b/c using only a LW 50 yard in, seems to go against every teaching out there? then again if it works for you.. i'm just wondering if you're say 3 yards on the fringe/light rough, and there's 50 feet of green.. you lob wedge it as well?

Not only is the ball moving.. it's also moving towards you (as in it will create fear of it hitting you). it's not just moving around in a circle for example.. also, there's crowd noise.. unlike golf (in most courses) :)

I know this probably isn't what you are looking to hear.. but instead of dropping $100+ on a shaft right away, what about dropping $50 on a lesson and have the pro tell you where your swing mechanic may be off.. also you can discuss with him, based on your swing type, what kind of shaft types/critierias you should be looking at? Still get the shaft, but mabye it's not the shaft at all?

I shot 103 on friday, 99 on saturday ,and 86 on sunday. all on similar slope rating courses. However, I do think at a 20 handicap, it's more likely to have score variations like this. When you're a scratch or a '+' hdcp, unless you're playing Tour conditioned courses, you shouldn't blow up over 90?

This is probably what the psychology books mean by "not over thinking" :)

If i bring a club plus a putter, i always bring the putter cover,and put club with putter cover. Since I baby my putter, i'll always know right away i'm missing my putter cover if i forget both. :)

So you and him get along.. plus he gives you free lessons/tips.. why not continue that?

exactly. can happen any game.. thus after preseason minimizes the risk. at least in your first game, he's in there to get you points..
