  1. Just picked up one of these Leupold GX3 rangefinders.. and wow what a difference! We were playing a super twilight after work, so the course wasn't busy. Both me and my playing partner would try to guess the yardages our balls were at, and then check with range finder.. Some times we'd be within 2-3 yards.. usually when we're near an obvious yardage marker. but other times, even when we are right by a marker, we'd be 10-15 yards off (due to position of flag, angle of ball (right of FW etc).. The confidence it instills, with one less thing -"is this the right club"- to think about, is worth it in my view. Some would say it slows down the pace. I would argue that if i can take 15 seconds to check my distance.. then hit it on to the green (or near the green).. vs not taking that 15 seconds, and either hitting it short (thus requiring another stroke and all the preshot routine), or hitting it long into the bush and the 5 mins to look for the ball. I'd take the 15 seconds here and there.. One down side.. the other twosome started asking to check yardages too.
  2. How do u attach case to bag? That's the key question :)
  3. I'm curious about the various ways people may attach their rangefinder during round? It comes in a case but how do you attach the case to the bag? or do u attach it around your belt? Thanks!
  4. Nah.. yardages are marked accurately b/c i used a rangefinder and confirmed the distances as soon as I got there..
  5. I just went to a different range last night. The one I normally go to has a very hard/dense mat. Last night, the mat was the fluffy/soft type. for some reason I was getting 15+ yards on every club.. i.e. LW normally 85, i was hitting 100 PW 130 -> 145 7i 160 -> 175 etc Is this a normal occurrence from fluffy mats? I rarely hit off of these.. but that was bizarre.
  6. wow.. you took ONE lesson and you got through ball striking, chipping, putting, club fitting, and spine adjustments.. that's an incredible value!! congrats.. a few more lessons coming up i'm sure?
  7. The D should be disciplined not to be faked out..
  8. The last 5 mins have been awesome basketball. Big big shots and great defense!!
  9. So if you're like Steve Jobs, who makes $1 per year in salary, they'll shut you down? harsh. :) Seriously though, I looked into a couple in the seattle area, and they're around $4-600 per month, with $10K initation fees
  10. From what I understand it, the tournament organizers secretly select 6 holes.. also each hole has a max of double par. etc This tournament Sat coming up, has max score of 7 for a Par 3, 8/10 for par 4/5 Wouldn't that strangely impacts the 'handicap allowance' calculations? Anyone with experience in this area? thanks!
  11. ah ok. thanks!!
  12. 4 man Scramble. Basically everyone shoots, and everyone takes the best shot out of the 4, and all shoot from there. Question: how close do you have to put the 2/3/4th balls to the first one? b/c.. 1) how do you mark where that 1st ball is even? the guy hits it, you can only 'guess' where it is around 2) what if he makes a divot.. 2/3/4th guys have to hit out of that divot spot? 3) on the putting green, it's even more guessing? b/c u can't really 'mark' the spot? or if you can, how? Thanks!
  13. ahh i see ok. thank you one follow up.. 23.2 rounds down to 23 what about 23.8.. round up to 24? or always round down to nearest integer? thanks again!
  14. Person A has 20.3 HC person B is scratch Person A gets 1 shot on every hole, plus 2 on the 1st and 2nd hardest holes.. what about the 0.3? Thanks!
  15. wouldn't teeing it further up in the stance induce a higher possibility of a fade/slice?
  16. heyhey, i played yesterday at Golf Course at Newcastle.. Coal Creek. Free round. i wouldn't have paid whatever it costs to play there.. but the scenery on a clear day is gorgeous though. I went out alone, but after some holes, caught up and ended up with the head pro at WA National (Mike), and a friend of his visiting.
  17. Random ranting.. 18th hole yesterday.. We all drove it reasonably well. one person was in a weird rough..(1 is a head pro at a local course, another a 2 HC visitor). Me - 2nd shot - on the light fringes of the green - about 15 feet out Pro - hits it close to green, but needed a 3rd to chip on. didn't chip well. 35 feet away visitor - 2nd shot was like 220 from a weird stance (uphill, and side slant), in thick rough. some how he creams a FW to 20 feet of the hole. Pro - drains the par putt from 35 out.. 2 HC - drains the birdie from 20 by this point, i'm both amazed and distracted that these guys putt so ridiculously well. Me - choke as usual, chip horribly on, and 2 putt in for bogey UGH. I need chipping lessons.
  18. I've hit a few 300+ drives.. but if you count average, you gotta count those 50 yard duffs. so.. no way. I did win a LD competition at a tournament with a 312 yard drive.. :) drove horribly all day.. and this was on the 18th hole.. i figure what the heck.. so just tried to kill it and got lucky.
  19. wouldn't any sun glasses do? what are specific to 'golf' sunglasses?

    Cart girls?

click on the girls picture, and there's a brief description. the funny thing to read are the 'worst pick up lines'. “Do you work at Subway, ’cause you are giving me a footlong"
  21. Do u have a fork made of graphite? ;)
  22. btw, why is it dangerous to play in lightning? aren't the grips rubber thus will not conduct electricity? also how about graphite shafts? random thoughts i was thinking 2 days ago when there was lightning and we were driving home
  23. so you have a pool, AND you live right by a golf course. hahaha spoiled is correct! that and very fortunate! well done! :)
  24. all depends on situation right? like someone mentioned, they could just be treating you like one of the group. Do they do this to their OWN people? (i.e. do they make fun of each other?) if so, just try to toughen up, and start makin' fun of them, givin' them heck etc.. you've got the game to back it up.. don't play with them again, but out there during the round, i would just try to make the best of it.
  25. I live in Seattle. .rain is possible anytime, even when there isn't a cloud in the sky at the moment.. i pack wet weather gear at all times, and if it gets nasty (lightning), i just quit..
