  1. So I may have given into the hype.. but being new and having a pretty malleable putting stroke, I decided to look toward a Heavy Putter to at least get the feel of not using the wrists but rather the larger muscles in the stroke. Found one used at PIAS for $25, so I pounced on it. Not sure if I'll go back to the old Northwestern putter or look elsewhere, but for right now, it seems to work decently for me, at least in practice (haven't hit the course in a while). I can definitely agree that it's more the puttee than the putter. ;) Or, the one who putts rather than the device used to complete the action of putting.
  2. I don't remember exactly where, but look around. It's in one of the diagrams. I remember seeing this when I was looking through the book.
  3. Oh, historic relevancy only matters to the person deeming such a history relevant. ;) IMHO, the length of a rivalry only fuels the animosity and the strength of the rivalry.
  4. Forget them both. Badgers! ... But if I had to choose, I'd say OSU, since we just can't have Michigan winning anything.
  5. I know a couple times (actually, the last time I posted, silly me) I've hit the reply to thread button after using quick reply to something I quoted. It's not a drop, but it may seem like it. ;)
  6. It may be "regular" to you, but really, that does nothing to tell us what it is. :) It definitely is up to personal preference. I started out with the baseball grip before learning its significance, and transitioned quickly to an interlock grip. I didn't even attempt overlapping as it just didn't have the same feel to me.
  7. Same issue here. My left foot is a half to a full size smaller than my right. I've worn 13s before, I've worn 12s, but I've gone to wearing 12.5 for activities (running, etc.). I need new golf shoes, but it's more difficult to find 12.5s, and I've not yet convinced myself to buy them yet until I find something under $100.
  8. Sept. 3 should be fine with me.
  9. Same thing happened to me last year lol. I totally forgot about the draft (heck, I forgot I signed up lol), but got the week 1 alert and decided to work on my weekly lineups, and nearly won it.
  10. Contemplating a set of new Tom Watson wedges at TGW for $85... just not sure if I have the money to spend... sigh.
  11. I was at Vitense the other weekend for a Play Golf America event (spent the night in Madison between here and a trip to the farmer's market, plus up north to near the Dells), and didn't check out the minigolf, but it does seem like it would be a lot of fun. Sadly, I usually only make it to places like Pirate's Cove up in the Dells, as there's not many good places around here.
  12. I just briefly browsed through the entire book (mostly skimming, though I basically paid attention to the illustrations and instructions in caps) at B&N; the other day as I was killing time, and I definitely think that if I were to pick it up and read it through completely (or for whatever I need), I'll definitely be able to improve my swing. I'll attempt working with the stance advice the next time I'm at the range or course. However, my first goal is to take some lessons.
  13. Used (but in great condition) B3 with decent looking Winn grips at the smaller of the two PIAS's near me for $25. :D
  14. Perhaps not as mind-blowing, but I found a B3 at the smaller PIAS in my area and was overjoyed. It was still in great (light marks on the face, but who cares?) condition, with decent looking Winn grips, and only $25 versus the $80+tax it would've cost me new. I wasn't sold on it when I was looking at it new, but for $25, I had to give it a shot.
  15. I'm looking for lessons as well, but I'm not quite sure I have the money for more than just one or two (though I'm sure they'd help). I'm trying to save a little money up to not only get the wedge set I'm looking at but also a 4-lesson pack for $175 (normally $240) at the range/course I usually go to.
  16. The par 3 pitch/putt is the only course I've gotten the confidence to play at just yet (sans water and sand), since I really don't want to start losing a bunch of balls... with the exception of two pulls that sent both balls off into deep woods (shhh!). Maybe sometime I'll get the courage to hit a larger course, but not for a while. I'd probably move to a more challenging par 3 with hazards, where I usually do range work.
  17. Thanks again for your opinions, I just wanted to slip into a (seemingly) more active thread to get some more input. I'm headed toward the Watson Classics from budgetgolf, since I won't have to make a rushed decision based on a sale that goes through today.
  18. Any opinion on picking either the Tom Watson Classic ($95+7 shipping with budgetgolf) or the Adams Idea A3 ($90 with rockbottomgolf, free shipping with a code I found)? Does the TWC still win over the other? They had the Tom Watson PVD on sale as well for $70 on RBG, but that's now out of stock, and the sale ends tomorrow.
  19. Hmm, that's a possibility too... Anyone else in this thread have a comment on the TW Classics? Also, did the Surespins have the same kind of finish as described on rockbottomgolf? Some golfers complained about them getting quite dirty and taking some time to clean up. Of course, that's likely all cosmetic, but I'd like something that looks a little respectable. ;)
  20. Looks like the Watson PVDs are out of stock for now. They say they may get more in every day, so I'll have to check tomorrow (the last day of the sale). Back to the Idea A3s and the Purespins for now, it looks like.
  21. Still not quite sure about the buy. Would it be good for me, at least pricewise to at least fill out my wedges before taking lessons (which are next on my list), or would lessons hopefully lead me toward better clubs?
  22. Unfortunately, the sale's only running through the weekend and I can't find any shop that seems to have any of those wedges in to test. So it looks like I'm just going to be relying on input. I found a free shipping code for RBG, so that'll knock off $17 from the final price for whatever I'm going to get (if anything). Right now, at least to me, I'm leaning toward the Idea A3's. I've not really heard of Purespin, and it seems like the Adams ones would be good.
  23. Understood. If it came to be that this was implemented, I could at least make sure things were working properly here if you let me know what to look for, but I do see where the ads would come into play.
  24. Just a wolf, my favorite animal and generally the type of avatar I use at most places... hence me just changing my post-count/title tonight as I finally bothered to add an avatar.
