As a recognized sports figure who makes his living off of the generosity of others and not really working a job, but playing a game, Tiger does owe something to the Golf Fans. He puts the fans on the course and the people in front of the TV but without the Tournament Sponsors, And his Companies that sponsor him, he would be squat. Those SPONSORS expect certain things of their EMPLOYEES! One of those, especially in this case is to maintain a certain PUBLIC IMAGE. Right now Tigers is no good. Just look at the SPONSORS that have pulled out and THE FANS that have told him to take a hike and are rooting for other players now. Yes Tiger had a responsibility and he pretty much S**T the Bed.

$750 MIllion? OMG, I have a cousin that has represented some pretty rich folks. Never has one of them settled out of court for anywhere near that number. Tiger and his attorneys would have said "whoa, wait a minute there darlin' we'll take this to court and let a judge decide if a shot of leg from you is worth that." No way he's paying that out.

By 250 carry, I am assuming everyone is talking about the flight distance that the ball goes through the air. That being said, I would take a drive that carries 250. Most of the time a drive that carries 250 will end up being a 270-280 yard or more drive, depending upon the terrain and if the course is dry. That would mean even on some of the longest par 4's I would be hitting 9 irons and wedges. As opposed to 6,7,8 irons. I can consistantly drive about 270 and 280. I do not try to hammer it out there. I have a little left but would rather make the smooth swing and be in the short stuff. My biggest problem in getting my handicap down is the 50-60 shot to the green. Getting them within reasonable birdie range. 15-20 feet. That is what I need to do. I guess I need to get rid of my old 4 metal that I dearly love and replace it witha 60* wedge. If someone is out there smoking the ball 235 with a 4 iron and is a 25 handicap, he either is not keeping it on the course or has the worst short game in the history of golf.

Take all your stuff out of your right pocket, put it in your left. Take a tee, put it behind your left ear. Turn your hat around backwards. Now tie your left shoe in a double bow. Now don't hit a ball for 2 days and come back and tell us how you hit it then.

Nice Sandbagging. -
Well said brgolf. Distance is a good thing to have. I would take 20 yards less if I were promised to be in the fairway everytime. Some of the lies you end up with in even the short rough just aren't worth the added distance. And that's my opinion. Not meant to be gospel.

Practicing with blades (MP-60), and use them eventually

I still will take my Old Wilson Staff 5 and 7 irons to the range and hit 40-50 balls with them. The reason is the instant feedback on mishits. This allows me to make adjustments as necessary to my swing. However, I still play my 08 Big Bertha's . Just for the fact that they are forgiving and minimize the effects of bad shots. I think it is wonderful that Sean is still hitting that Mac Vip Driver. That stick was the bomb back in the day when I first started playing. -
Dear Shanks, How are you today. I am assuming that by looking at your handicap, you have quit shooting those chili peppers up Lee Janzen's ass. I believe the average golfer, and me as you can tell by my pic, being of inferior intelligence, agree with the many definitions of sweet spot that you so aptly posted earlier. However, I believe that while not making a sweet spot larger, they, the manufacturers, have made the clubs more forgiving and increased the area of effective use on the the club face. Not being a pro, such as yourself, I cannot with any great degree of regularity, hit my 9 iron repeatedly 135 yards. Sometimes it's 133 sometimes it's 138, however the shot's feel the same. That being said, I think the general definition of hitting a pure shot is hitting one that travels along the intended path of trajectory, arriving somewhere within the intended area (or area code) in which it was intended to. In other words, it did what you wanted. I just enjoy going out there and beating the hell outta the ball until it says "No mas, boss". LOL! I love this place.

Distance is a wonderful thing, when it's good distance ie fairway, first cut etc. I am lucky that I hit the ball out there a ways. I have learned that unless it's a fairly wide open area to drive to, without much trouble, to choke my driver and hit it about 270-280 depending upon the fairway being flat uphill down hill whatever. This leaves me usually with a relatively short iron to most greens. When I say choke, I mean I swing about 90% and grip my driver down about a half inch. My long time playing partner, hits the ball only about 225-250. He is always down the middle and is usually hitting much longer irons than I am, into the green. He misses significanlty more greens than me, usually just short, rarely long, left or right. But he is a chipping and putting machine. Point being this, I still usually, 8 out of 10 times beat him, but never very badly. Our handicaps however put us within a shot or two of each other every time. It amazes me how that works out. Now in two man scrambles, we do amazingly well. He will hit it down the middle and I'll let it rip when he does. The biggest improvement in my game came when I learned to choke the driver back, hit more fairways, got better at chipping and putting and learned to make a concious effort to minimize trouble and eliminate that one hole that we all invairably have in a round where we hit a bad shot, try to pull a shot off that is beyond belief and make that bogey or double bogey a hockey stick, snowman or worse. The other thing is the GPS that has given amazingly accurate yardages to the front, center and back of the green. I was shocked to learn that some of the yardages indicated by the markers on the course were off as much as 22 yards. LOL! Better golf through Technology!

Having a good short game and being a good putter is not total baloney. Eg Sunday, on my way to shooting 75 (4 over) I missed 6 greens and drove one ball in the water on the easiest par 4 on the course. I hit 4 iron off the tee to just put it at the top of the dog leg and have a 125-130 yard shot to the pin. Instead I pulled it a touch, caught a tree limb, knocked it straight down onto a severe sloping bank, where my hot and parched ball promptly rolled into the water. So no I am one in, dropping two, hitting 3 from about 135 out. I hit 9 iron with in 20-25 feet. Just trying to roll it close and make sure of no worse than par, my ball was tired of the sun and fell in the shady hole for a 4. So the point being, many golfing sins are covered up by one putts. Work on your short game, that and minimizing mistakes will get your score down quickly.

Dudes, seriously, I don't like to hear things like getting stuck. They kept saying that about Tiger at the Open. He's been stuck since last November. No more "Stuck". Going back to my Pink Elephant walking across the fairway in a bikini swing thought.

Howdy!!!!!!!!!!! One swing thought I can tell you that I use, is think of a Big Pink Elephant strolling across the fairway in a Bikini. Makes me smile everytime, and I try to hit her big butt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my dream set short of the 3i-brid that goes with the set. Finding one of those is like finding a unicorn. Sooooooooooooooooo if anyone has a 2008 Callaway Big Bertha 3 i-brid............that you would like to donate........also a Scotty Cameron Putter that you would like to donate. LOL! I'll tell you this though. My most favorite putter of all time, and you may call me crazy.....is a old Nickent Golf EZ Roll ZR1 I bought at a yard sale for $1.00. I don't carry it right now, I'm carrying a Ping Anser I've had a long time. And I have a Pal 5 I like as well. But when the putter goes on vacation, I break out my Billy Baroo!!!!!!!!!!!
