  1. I look at the back inside corner for a draw, the outside corner for a fade on the driver. look at the front of the ball on irons ,cause you want your divot in front of the ball. you can work the ball by looking at the front corners on the irons. I like to work the ball one way or another cause the sraight shot is very hard to master,& I like to be in some kind of control with the balls flight. Focusing on the ball may cause you to be "hitting" instead of swinging "thru" the ball, but you have to look at something.can't close your eyes!
  2. I resemble that remark! I have a decent game from 180 yds in! trouble is; it's hard to to break 80 when you miss most fairways! I have noticed that teeing the ball lower helps hitting the fairway alot. It goes against about everything you read or hear about driving the ball, but it works 4 me.
  3. Try this! If you are chipping short shots with your wedges; try looking at the front of the ball and drive the ball into the ground. The hardest part will be believing you can actually get a good chip out of driving the ball into the ground! works for pitches also. If you are chipping a longer shot with plenty of green;try using a 8 or 7 or 6 iron & pretend that you are using your putter. do your putting routine, your putting stroke,& try not to hit the ground cause you would'nt do that with your putter. Hardest part will be the pretending part, cause you are looking down at your 7 iron. the shot is actually the easy part!
  4. Throw it away. then stick the repair tool around the edges of the hole & with a twisting motion, close up the hole. tap it down and pretend that you will have to putt over it. repairing it for the balls rolling over it will also be the best way to repair it for the greens sake.
  5. I've been having troube for 2 years now with military golf with my driver. I hit my irons & fairway woods for the most part; in the general vicinity of where I'm aiming. The driver goes left, right, left, right, high, low, fade ,hook,etc.etc. I've tried everything. new drivers, new shafts, tried all the instructional tips, backswings changes, weight shift, alignments, you name it. My last trip to the course, hitting 5 balls off the tees,I may have stumbled unto something. I moved the ball about 6 inches farther away from my left foot and hit 10 drives in the fairway as far out as I've ever hit em.I have to reach for the ball, but I dont need any swing thoughts ,just get to it & hit it. Any explanations?
  6. That's 10 times better than your divot aiming left! You are obviously coming into the ball from the inside slot which ain't all that bad. that's what I am actually trying to do. you may be aligned right, that's worth checking, but if I were you;I'd just close the face a tad at address,& the ball should draw slightly from the right side of the green to the middle. should't take much.
  7. Maybe he's trying to play like us duffers so the people will relate to him now & start pulling for him instead of judging & criticising him. Watching him play lately reminds me of the way I play & the guys at the club,or in the golf leagues. That's one theory, the other is; maybe he has lost his edge. he once felt invisible, the best of the best,mr.perfect, proud as a peacock. now he has been humbled, found out he is human, just like the rest of us,and now is playing like the rest of us. maybe he will never get it back. I'm hoping he does.
  8. I seen this same thing this past weekend also. What we did was just started playing 2/3 balls ourselves! And STILL had to wait when we wantind to hit another shot! I cant understand why in the last few years that people are spending all day to play 18 holes. I've considered quiting golf just because of it. I feel that to keep the pace of MOST people's golf time; I could actually CRAWL between shots!. probably too hard on the knees. It's not just on the golf course,it's on the roads,it's at the workplace, it's at the mall. people's metabolism must be screwed up! anyway, forget yelling at,or hitting into 'em. like tailgating,or blowing your horn. It only makes them go slower! Instead of being considerate,& pulling over or letting faster players go thru, the slow down even more, just to be rude. And forget the rangers, they are too busy hunting balls! Don't know what the answer is, maybe just take a case of beer along & enjoy the senic view.
  9. I've done the spot; about 3 ft. in front of the ball; thing for a year now. It helps, but for some reason, the people that I ask to get behind me on the tee,say I;m still aiming right. I recently tried to pick a spot about 20 yds. down the line, but that made it worse. yesterday I did find that it helped not only to pic a spot 3 ft. in front, but also a spot 3 ft. behind the ball to comfirm the line. It's just very disturbing to stand on the tee box; feeling that I'm aimed O.B. left! I've tried glasses, bout missed the ball! Contacts may be next. Or just hit thousands of balls, lined up properly even if it does feel stupid, until it does'nt?
  10. I have seen guys that hit it 280 playing from the white tees because the rule is by handicap u decide where where u belong. If u cant break 90; why would u play from the tips? Then again; if u can hit 280; why hit from the whites? There are good players with low handicaps that cant even hit it 250.Do u put them back cause of their handicap? The one guy is right; your handicap is figured the same way by stating which tees u play from,so it figures up the same. So basically it's an etiquette thing,or a slow-play issue. I'ts gotta really slow down the play if someone is playing from the tips, who should'nt be.
  11. My eye site must be failing cause in the last few years I've been having trouble with getting aligned properly. When I set up to the ball, feeling like I'm aimed down the middle on the tee,I'm actually aimed in the trees on the right. When I get a playing partner to set me up straight; I swear that I'm aimed in the trees on the left. I open the face cause of how I feel, then the shot goes right unless I really suppinate my wrists. If I dont, then the shot goes straight left into the trees where I felt like I was aimed. Can anyone relate? & can anyone help?
  12. Do golf course pros & supers know how many rounds per year they are losing because of slow play? And if they do; are they doing anything about it. I love to golf, but 4 hours for a foursome seems actually;too long. Golfers need to be educated about how to play efficiently, not yelled at or just told by a sign on the first tee or on the cart. I was at one course that had a digital clock on the cart telling golfers where they were at according to the time & where they should be. this is good, but alot of golfers today have no idea HOW to play at the right speed,or how to operate a golf cart.I swear sometimes a golf cart slows people down instead of speeding up golf! If a ranger tlls them to speed up; they cant cause they dont know how to speed up!
  13. Here in ohio,at our course we have rangers who are suppose to helping golfers, and speeding up play, but all they seem to do is hunt for balls, put carts away,or just sit in the clubhouse. I feel rangers/marshalls are a good thing,if they do their job. Most courses cant justify paying their wages unless they can add to the amount of rounds per day that get played by the speed of play. I feel 4 hours should be the MAX for 4 golfers to play 18 holes. Even that ,when I get done, seems like too long! Golfers need to get some kind of instruction as to how to play efficiently, rangers should be the ones giving the advice.
  14. Greg normans tip helped my chipping. but it took some practice. He says you should try to hit the front of the ball;not the back. this forces you to hit down on it,& to play it back in your stance.
  15. I dont think anyone really knows what their true handicap is until they play in at least one tournament where you are required to play golf according to all the usga rules, play from the correct tees, play the ball down,in competition,on a championship caliber course. What you score when you are out with your buddies on your home course should not be even considered to set your "real" handicap. I wouls be a 5 or 6 in the later; a 12/15 in the real one!
  16. What can I expect out of a heavy grafite shaft in my driver. I have one in my 3-wood and it feels great & I hit it sweet. usually as far & straighter than my driver. All the drivers these days seem to be as light as they can get them. Seems like even though you swing em faster, there's no distance cause there's just nothing there at contact. It's like a voltswagen going 100 mph hitting the same thing as a truck going 70. which one will do the most damage?
  17. thanks,that was it!
  18. I've tried all the lofts. If anything;the ball flies too high. I either hit my drives left with a hook,or right with a week fade. Ocasionally right down the middle, but that's 1 out of 6,if that. getting more loft would just send the wayward drives farther out of bounds. Everyone I play with has commented on how well I hit my 3-wood. why cant I hit a driver. The 3wood is an old orlimar with a 1in. tall face, with grafite stiff shaft. they no longer make that shaft.
  19. 2 Pros & countless players cant figure this one out. I hit my 8 iron 155 yds., my sw 110,my 20 deg. hybrid 210, my 3wood 235, my driver 225? I've bought way too many drivers trying to fix it,tried just about every possible swing change/set-up,ball position, grip, backswing, wrist hinge. experimented with many instructional videos. I've gone from a 4 hdc. to a 12. At the moment, pretty much have narrowed it down to the shaft? nothing off the rack works. I've bought numerous heads & shafts, assembled them & got no improvement. I play with younger guys who hit their drives 50 yds. past me,but on par 3s; I use the same iron/or less/than they do! Ready to just start using the 3wood if I cant find a solution. Does anyone have the answer?
  20. I know what the letters stand for. I cant tell when it's set on open/closed/etc. I can move the shaft around& around but when to stop;me dont know!
  21. Does anyone know how to adjust the new cobra S2 driver? I didnt get any instructions.dont know what the O/N/C. on the hosel is suppose to line up with. Cobras web site is no help.
  22. If you can wait;or maybe already available; I heard soon you can get gps on your cell phone . anyone else heard of this? just type in the course and use your phone for yardages!
  23. This sounds like me! I hit my 3 wood 230,my hybrid 210,my 8 iron 155,but my driver/s 220! left/right/hook.fade,you name it. once played to a 4 handicap, now 12. no confidence on the tee. I've tried all the new drivers, with no improvement. now thinking about just starting to build my own driver & experiment with shafts. Tired of paying $300-$400. a pop with no improvement.
  24. everyone I know that has one, loves it. I bought a new S2 cobra driver with a tool to change the face angle, but no instructions!. there is a closed/nuetral/open position, but cant figure out how you know which setting its on?
