  1. That's pretty typical if you aren't lagging the club and hitting with a nice, downward strike. Check your divots and see if they are 2-4 inches in front of the ball. If you're actually hitting your driver that far (have you checked with gps?) then your swing speed should be fine... and only 8 yards between clubs tells me you're not making correct contact. I have ~120mph swing speed and my irons are almost 15 yards apart.
  2. I think if you're having trouble with it, try to make the first move from the top of your backswing feel like you're going straight to the ground, instead of feeling like you're swinging in an arc. This should give you the 'weightless' feel followed by a whippy, heavy feeling once your hands are at the bottom. Just remember to keep the left arm straight while you come down
  3. oh also if it helps: swing speed was 109-111 before, and 118-120 after based on a golfsmith camera
  4. I was hoping everyone could share how they 'feel' appropriate club lag to help those who were in my position 2 or 3 months ago. Before then I didn't really record and I thought I had good lag the whole time. Boy, was I wrong. Since it is still a pretty new feeling and I remember the old I thought it might help some of you who are having trouble with casting/flipping.... no lag- Heavy on the way down, was a very wide, sweeping feeling. My left shoulder would sometimes get sore after 100-150 balls at the range. I'm telling you, I swung HARD and I did hit it far, 250 carry (for real) at the range. lag - first thoughts are that it seems so steep there is no way you will hit the ball consistently. I'm guessing this steep feeling is what we try to get rid of when we are first learning how to play and chunking ball after ball. Anyways, to me it feels like the club barely moves and then whips downward at a very steep angle. My first session at the range where I finally saw it on the video were not amazing... it took my hands about 2-3 days to really get the feel for where they should be. However, I now hit it about 10-20 yards farther with every club but it is a MUCH crisper, exploding, effortless swing. My trajectory is also much more consistent. I go to a range in a pretty small town ~4000 and when people hear the contact there are usually some stares. Anybody else feel free to comment on your feelings, hopefully it will help someone else out there :)
  5. I totally agree. If you have an iPhone 3 or 4 or an andriod (don't know them) you should check out V1 Golf. I can literally shoot a decent video at the range, turn around, and watch it frame by frame within 20 seconds. I don't even post videos on here yet because it's so easy that I can take 10-15 a day and see my flaws in all.
  6. ive had this happen before too. my only though is that it's a knuckleball
  7. Yeah take a shorter back swing. If you take what seems like a short backswing, to where u just barely touch your chin to your shoulder, you will get about the right feeling. Do that with an 8 iron for about 30 times, then swing one how you used to. You can feel your left arm breaking down where it feels like you have to work to keep your hand in the correct position or your elbow in. I did it for a long time and that's what causes the big fades. If you did what I did you will learn to rotate your hand to make it work, which is just a terrible habit to make a bad golf swing work (plus I would randomly get lazy and hit the fade). Now I'm in a much better position with my right arm (I'm right handed) at the top and I never have to fight the breakdown. edit: oh yeah... stop that picking the right foot up business
  8. As a mostly stack and tilt forum you're gonna just be told not to load your right side at all, especially with irons. From my experience, I agree.
  9. Causes? Went to golfsmith today and hit some shots on different drivers. I just can't hit it at the correct angle. I would say 50% were 6-9, 30% were 11-13, and 10% were each way above and below. It's by far the thing holding my swing back the most. Ranges for those accordingly were 210-240, 270-290, and bad. I will try to get a video up tomorrow but I was hoping to have an idea or two to try on the range. Just so you know, I get plenty of hip turn, swing speed of 110-113 for every. single. shot. I was impressed at how consistent that was. Stock shot is a push draw that sometimes draws too much. Thanks, Chuck Edit: Hit 3 woods fine, it's something related to the tee. Also I hit the 3wood about 255 so unless I can figure out the problem I might as well swing with that all the time. Also the tee they used was a tee inside of a rubber housing, so I could tell that sometimes I was hitting down (moving the tee down) and other times hitting up (moving the tee up). But I also feel like I have a hands problem. Anyways I'll just try to get a video because I'm confusing myself and it's better if you could just see.
  10. So I took the general idea here and just did the count in my head and mostly just quickened the pace of my backswing. Oh. My. God. I've never hit the ball so far / with such good consistent contact in my life. I hope it is repeatable tomorrow when I head out to stone canyon. P.S. I think it was more due to actually accelerating all the way through the whole swing, rather than decelerating on impact. And what I mean by this is, I always swing pretty hard, but I tend to stop when I'm letting the club whip. I just kept swinging today because it seemed more natural with the quickened pace.
  11. yeah i'd say you're scooping it. make sure you really hit it with a nice hands forward, descending blow
  12. oh this is easy. Look at the second video. Your first move is a bowed left wrist. You don't even move the club before you make the move to bow it. so the first 2 things: A) Get a flat wrist. Practice bending your left wrist at the correct angle. I think you will notice your popups and slices disappear. You might still have a slight fade due to your swing path but I can guarantee your wrist is the bigger problem here. B) Move those arms first!!@! Come back in 2 weeks :)
  13. Well you already know you have a sort of flimsy, casting thing going on so I'll leave that at that. Just my personal opinion, but you look like you are still young and I think you should develop a more powerful, athletic swing. Your hips barely lead your body at all right now, compare that to some of the harder swingers who actually have torso torque in the middle of their swing and you will see what I mean. Swing hard with your body and you will find you have much less power in your arms and hands to screw things up.
  14. so I guess since you're gonna be completely closeminded to any advice here I'll just go with one of the answers you asked: You're overestimating your swing.
  15. I've had my MX300's for about 6 weeks now. I love them. I tried every other iron in the store and I really don't have anything else to say. I couldn't find anything with a similar feel and look that matched me as well. Perfect for me because you can tell exactly how you mishit without completely losing a stroke. Just what I needed where my game is right now.
