  1. i was attempting to point at the flag but got the piece of green it behind it. (i guess it should be more like 133 pin 137 middle because more often than not its long not short) its a completely different club choice. Completely correct. Both the gx-1 and v2 will But you still don't seem to understand. In my experiences, grabbing the pin with the GX-1 is extremely difficult. in my experience the gx-1 was too precise and it's laser too precise. The pin seeker mode essentially makes that laser the size of the circle, so it grabs anything in that circle. The circle is much larger with the pin seeker on bushnell than it is on the gx-1. The point I am trying to make is that the v2 is much easier to use and in my experience gives a 100% confident yardage everytime. I can grab pin distances within 3 seconds of pulling it out. It's just convenient. Switched after spending 30+ seconds trying to get a yardage and after seeing one of my old hs buddies whos a +4 and playing in the U.S. Amateur using his v2 to shoot a 66. He tried using the gx-1 and couldn't get the yardage to the pin from about 175 out. He did it on his v2 almost instantly. to each his own
  2. I had a gx-1 and returned it that week. The fact that you didn't know what you were locking onto if there were multiple objects in a close vicinity was very disturbing for me. In golf, confidence is almost everything. The Bushnell v2 fixed that. Does what the gx-1 does plus the most important yardage of all. There's a huge difference beween 133 to the middle and 137 to the pin. Anyways, unless you have the absolute steadiest hands in the entire world, the gx-1 won't be able to grab pin distances.

    Bubba Watson

Bubba is scary good right now. accurate as hell for as long as he is
  4. I was kidding, but yeah. I'd say it's only about 1/10 50 footers that roll 1 inch to the right/left of the cup. Sure, most pros can get a 50 footer within 3 feet probably 8-9 times outta 10, but to nearly hole it is much different. Consistently within 3 feet is skill. Holing that putt would be luck, that's why it was karma for his bad reaction. Maybe if he handled it better he would have came off of 18 absolutely ecstatic, forgetting all about the "bad break" he had at 17.
  5. Lol didn't we all decide somewhere in this thread that a power fade is a fade that is longer (hence "power") due to the in to out swing path? Honestly, I don't see how people can hit a fade swinging inside out. You aren't swinging inside out because inside out relative to the target line always creates a push fade if the club face is open relative to the swing path. Those who think they are swinging inside out for their power fade are really swinging slightly outside in. It may feel like you are swinging in to out but somewhere before impact your club face crosses over the line. Ball flight laws aren't called ball flight "rules of thumb". That's just how it works. Relative to your shoulder line (opened 20 degrees) you may be swinging inside out, but relative to the target line you are swinging outside in ever so slightly, with an ever so slightly opened up club face relative to that outside in swing path.
  6. That 52 footer he missed by 1 inch on the 18th was the golf gods idea of karma for making such a big deal out of missing the 5 footer. If he would have handled it better, the putt on 18 would have dropped and he would have had a chance to prove himself against a man who just shot 59.
  7. Open clubface with an inside out will never draw. It needs to be at least slightly closed, unless you are swinging very inside out (like 20 degrees inside out) for it to draw. All it will do is create a push. Better than a push slice, but still.
  8. They have certain events that are cakewalks each year where they expect the winner to be at least 15 under. Then they have the US open where the winner is par. The smallest tournaments usually seem to have the easiest courses. I think the best round ever would have to be the round that achieves the best differential. Although then again maybe not, because I don't really believe much in the USGA's rating system. 75.5/145 was the US open at pebble this year. 75.1/134 was the John Deere classic at TPC Deere Run. So these courses are relatively the same for the scratch golfer. So why does Pebble play so much harder than TPC Deere run? Based off the scoring at the US open you'd think that the course rating was 80/155. When you are hitting 1/4 of your approaches to within 5 feet you're gonna go super low.
  9. Why? Only the club fitter will know what lie angle is right for each particular swing.
  10. I've heard of "jumping" before and have researched it but cannot find anything on it. What is "jumping" as it relates to the golf swing?
  11. I think you are right. It's only right before impact his left arm begins to bend.
  12. Green dot to the left and right of the number.
  13. I had no idea. Often time that's the decision I have to make on this certain hole I play a lot. I have to hit a really good 3 wood or splash.
  14. About a month ago I played with two friends from high school and another who was a Jr. on that high school team. One was the state champ in HS 2 years in a row and is a +4. The other is a +3 or 2 I believe. The Jr is like a 3 or 4 handicap at best but drives the ball 300 yards like the other two did. I only drive like 250-260 so that alone was intimidating. I was pretty nervous but knew they were good guys so I figured it didn't matter how I played. We played doubles match with me and the +4 vs the other two. Best single score of the teams won the hole. To my surprise, I hit a good drive and an approach to 30 ft and sank the long birdie. Won one of two holes for us for the day. I Birdied the 11th as well with a 12ft birdie. It's intimidating that my partner hit his drive 320 about 15y left of the green. Yet he still only made par while I made birdie. So you can definitely hang with them, you just have to avoid the penalties, the bunkers, the rough, and make sure you really focus on your short game. My partner shot 66. The other two shot 70 and 73 I believe. I shot 81. Not so great but I can live with it. I played like 4 or 5 points above my handicap which is not too bad, considering I had two OBs. Ugh. So embarrasing, those guys didn't have a single penalty. Anyways, just play within yourself and don't go for the green if the hazard is at 200 and its at 220. Layup. They will go for it but maybe you won't. The risks are too great for your skill, perhaps. It's all about how you feel and your confidence. But if you don't want to embarrass yourself, don't be afraid to play safe. Learn what you can be most importantly have a good attitude and a good time.
