Possibly he’s just that bad at introspection I guess. I always thought he just really thought he was the smartest guy in every room and also got high on his fame while thinking critics just didn’t “get it” and were beneath him.

I’m trying to figure out what Musk’s end game is, or if he’s just made a couple of horrific financial decisions in buying Twitter and leveraging Tesla to do it.

I'm more than a little concerned about promoting the "AI thinks you want to read" to a first class function. It's bad enough when apps like Facebook did it, but "newsy" apps like Twitter do it, it just perpetuates the growth of "echo chambers" where people aren't exposed to differing views and info.

Really good points. As for the point about Vitamin D and other things that could have helped, I suspect a concern was blunting the message that a worldwide pandemic needed a strong and widespread solution. FAR too many people were already mislead or misinformed about alternative treatments ranging from homeopathic products to animal wormers, and anything that blurred the message might have turned into talking points saying "see, all you need is megadoses of Vitamin D." That being said, I wish medical practitioners had taken the opportunity of speaking about those things during their interactions with patients. Hell, even telling patients that cutting down on their pack a day habit might have been good for their lungs, especially with virus going around. I saw family members of people who have serious respiratory issues going outside the hospital and smoking like a chimney, and knew full well they probably smoke in their house without regard to the at risk relative.

REAL curious what this "improvement" is. The only material change I have seen (same for my friends and associates who use twitter regularly) is the restoration of some prominent people and the ham-handed rollout of Blue.

Are There Any Downsides to the 'Fleetwood Finish'?
bking replied to FlyingSpaniard's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'm gonna have to call "no" on that. Been a while since College Physics, but I don't see how you would accelerate in that 2nd scenario. -
This guy is either playing 3D chess way above my level, or he's bat crap crazy. Buy the company, gut it, then crowdsource a decision to step down?

My fear is that he's actually looking for even more - he wants to be a leader, if only just as a "savior", of those nutjobs.

I "think" that the POS companies set that up in their apps and make it configurable. But vonsidering that the same options always appear everywhere I go (depending on POS vendor) I suspect most businesses don't bother to change those things.

Super old thread, but an interesting topic IMO. My longest iron in my 4 iron, with a carry around 180-185 on a good day. I don't carry any hybrids as I just haven't given them a try. Since my driver is basically a 200 yard carry, and my 3 wood is fairly close to my 4 iron, I'm not sure that gap needs closing.

That's a fairly common thing where I play, and it's usually related to us all helping follow the shot. Old eyes have to help each other out. But... I would be perfectly OK if my partner simply asked me to move from there.

Yes, but golf is without a doubt THE MOST analyzed sport/activity out there when it comes to amateurs and their own games.

I was referring more to someone playing "up" in order to go "ace hunting". I've only heard of it a time our two, when someone has played a recreational round from their normal tees but then played the par 3's all the way up. They're certainly free to do it, but I wouldn't call that an ace.

I don't have any current links handy, but I've seen several credible reports that hate speech, radical conspiracy theories and incitement of violence are on the upswing on Twitter since Musk began loosening up on free speech (well, speech that doesn't cross him)

"Proper" tees should be fairly obvious IMO. It's the proper tee for your distances and your handicap.

I selected the following: First ball, regular par-70-ish course, on a par three Seems obvious Hole in one on a regular course where you don't play all 18 holes (or even nine holes) Unless you're just playing a hole over and over to try and make one Par three course, > 100 yards This IMO is no different than a Par 3 on a regular course. NOTE: I didn't vote for the "under 100" option-anything TOO short is too tricked up to me and can almost be like holing out on an approach shot. That's also why I didn't vote for Regulation course with a hole under 75 yards, not that I've ever seen one that short. Par three, regular course, < 100 yards The reason why I voted differently on this as opposed to the Par 3 course is that I haven't seen any regulation courses with anything under maybe 90 anyway. Mulligans, Simulators and temporary greens should be self explanatory IMO.

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?
bking replied to bking's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
OK, thanks everyone for the input - it's about what I expected and very much in line with what I was guessing. Summary: 1. I didn't think it was going to be of much value given both the quality of the shafts and the "quality" of my game. 2. I MAY at some point experiment with it on spare clubs just to get some experience, but not as part of my primary project - reshafting my clubs. 3. IF I decide to do that, it appears to me that doing both is a total waste, and FLO overlaps spining enough to make that the "tool" of choice. Now, as I mentioned earlier, I'll be adding a post following along with my project - successes, failures, lessons learned, observations, etc. and I'd REALLY appreciate any and all comments on that thread. So far, I've bought all the tools I need and completed the first step ior two, so I'll get that post up and going sometime this weekend. Hope some folks find it interesting, and hope even more will chime in with advice, etc.- 25 replies

Musk as the Samuel Jackson character in Kingsman 2?

The cynic in me is leaning toward Musk being 100% OK with moderation being broken for a bit. Word is that misinformation had a massive spike after the first layoff and through the election as the moderator teams were a large part of the first layoffs.

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?

Nah, I may only carry 13 clubs, but I have a LOT more excuses in my bag than 13- 25 replies

You'd be amazed what things have to be dealt with regularly - hardware flakes out, hackers keep scratching at the door, log files fill up unexpectedly. Hell, I've seen the AC crash at a data center before and stuff starts overheating in the middle of the night.

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?
bking replied to bking's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
ALL very well-said and valid points. Thanks. As I mentioned in my post "Shafts Weight Variance Question", I plan to document this step by step and share it here, warts and all.- 25 replies

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?
bking replied to bking's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Glad you pointed that out. I didn't mean to imply that the science WAS wrong; only curious about the incremental value to an imperfect swing. It's the old "accuracy vs precision" conundrum. Specifically for this project - I determined that changing to the lighter shafts, changing grip size, and longer shafts will help my game. If I'm wrong, I'll be able to undo each of these AND add the experience/skills to regripping and minor repair toolbox. What I've been struggling with is the cost/benefit of what might be more incremental changes like these spining & FLO, strategically adjusting swing weight, etc. - which are harder to grade results and decide to back out.- 25 replies

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?
bking replied to bking's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yep. At best, I'll learn something. At worst, when my buddies talk about checking spines when reshafting, I can talk them off that ledge at least. Right now I do regripping for them as a favor, but hope to be able to share my experiences with them and save them a few bucks here and there. Not to mention helping pay for my stuff.😉- 25 replies

Spining and Flo of Quality Iron Shafts - Worth it?

🤣 Amen. FWIW, I'm probably going to buy a Spine Finder off Ebay just for educational purposes. PVC and Bearing Golf club Shaft Spine Finder Simply place the spine finder PVC Shell in a vise. The shaft should automatically rotate and fix in a spot of least resistance. The Spine would be the spot that has the most resistance. You can align the spine in various...- 25 replies
