  1. But the EXTENSION is necessary. Right now you are not staying LOW PAST the ball.
  2. Among my collection of video lessons I did one on the roll of the right shoulder which actually has a lot to do with your question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVJKpu0EWn4
  3. Watch these two video's on the release and I think you'll figure it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8ckECXHu4U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvet1EmSS7Q
  4. I like to go with a "weight system". The faster I plan on swinging, the more weight I imagine is at my feet. Then I imagine that I'm going to lift that weight and that will intuitively determine how far apart my feet need to be. I did a video on this about 2 years ago. It's not the best video I've ever done but it illustrates my point nicely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE2X_yYHOro
  5. You must learn to get the leading edge of the clubface BELOW the equator of the ball. This means learning to extend after the ball, low and forward toward the target. I posted a video drill for the release which will help you with this issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvet1EmSS7Q
  6. Not really a forward press at the BEGINNING of the swing.. on the forward swing your hands need to be ahead. Full EXTENSION does not happen until AFTER impact. I just posted a drill to work on this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvet1EmSS7Q
  7. I'm definately not trying to win on cinematography. I'll hire someone to do it if I ever decide to do my DVD. For now I'm just happy about showing the content to help people.
  8. Here's my most recent video lesson. I was helping some people with their release and I often use this drill to help them fully extend through the golf swing. I have lots of other videos. They're all free. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvet1EmSS7Q
  9. Yes you can but it requires better direction, and sustained accelleration. In short, if you are releasing the lag too early, it's because you stopped accellerating. Trying to CREATE this L shape with tension and muscular strength is basically the difference between hitters and swingers. Right now you're a swinger, and he's describing a hitting concept. Trying to do both can lead to disasterous results.
  10. The combination of these 4 video's in this order is what I recommend for all beginners of Golf. It starts with your grip, your setup, your finish, and the walk through drill. For many of you, you have probably already seen these video's but it is the foundation of my beginners instruction (aside from equipment evaluation). If you know any beginners, I highly recommend you show them these things to get them started. It would also be a good refresher course for those of you who have started to loose your swing. How to Identify a Neutral Grip - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...80113198211=en The Proper Posture - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...25909841832=en The Proper Finish - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...04584232542=en The Walk Through Drill - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...97085947466=en Again, these are the basic steps I take all my beginners through. Just as an example, there was a heavy set lady I met on the range who was waiting for her husband to get done playing last weekend. It was her first time ever picking up a set of clubs and she just got them for Christmas. I took her through these simple four things in literally 15 minutes. Within another 15 minutes after that she was hitting her pitching wedge over 100 yards with ease and control.
  11. Learn to accellerate to the halfway point of your backswing, and accellerate to the halfway point in your forward swing (just after impact). Those two points are where the most clubhead speed should be generated. That means you must ACCELLERATE as far as you can on the forward swing. Trust me, you won't be able to accellerate any further than the halfway point. Your arms won't let you.
  12. NONSENSE!!! Don't even worry about an EFFECT. For crying out loud all it means is that you've made a big hip turn. You don't want to be flat footed during an athletic move. That's just plain silly hogwash. It does look like you're pulling up and out of the shot though. (nothing to do with your foot) I think you need to make sure you're transferring your left knee, hip, and shoulder toward the TOE of your front foot... more in the 11:00 direction. If you direct it toward the heel of your front foot you're pulling away from the shot and will tend to slice it. From the looks of it, that's your usual miss.
  13. Along with the advise above I would say the most important thing to focus on when you come back from a lay off is your balance. Your balance will affect your plane and vice versa.
  14. I own the book!
