  1. +1 - just about sums it up!
  2. +1 - just about sums it up!
  3. Off the top of my head I can't recall the URC/URS differences, one was for a higher swing speed. But not to thread jack, the Srixon balls are also very good, and the new formulation even better. It seems that balls have really begun to become a very competitive market.
  4. Good suggestion given the performance of clubs these days. Would allow a space for an extra wedge. That is - if you do a 3/5 wood combo, which I have. If I didn't, I would go for the 4w. But I happen to love both my fw woods.
  5. And I think you did the right thing. Handled just right IMHO!
  6. I feel for you. I played a similar round getting paired with a guy who couldn't resist giving "lessons" to everyone, from swing critiques to anything else golf. By the fifth hole I basically told him to stop; that I have my own swing thoughts and don't need his. I was really, annoyed. But he at least cut it out with me, but my other two partners - who aren't that good, still got the "playing lessons".
  7. Yeah the weather has affected the US Open this year in more ways than one! I only have one comment to add, and it has to do with the devolvement of golf with respect to the fans. It is simply a sign of the culture we live in, that we get yahoos yelling just to be heard, etc.. There is certainly a different attitude at events. Don't even try the "lighten up" line. There is a time and place to be a raucous buffoon (actually there isn't, but some places better than others), but golf tournaments are not the place. Cheering yes, idiocy, no. Please don't try to justify it. Phew... what a rant. Can you tell that bugs me?
  8. Made by Callaway. I tried them and for the price, I don't think there is a better $20/box of balls out there. Many soft cover balls shred, so that comes with the territory. Its a little easier to take when the price isn't so dear.
  9. Still think they are a great inexpensive ball, played again with one today - still like the feel. I didn't realize they are made by Callaway - go figure - I normally play the Tour iX.
  10. Duh! LOL - When I read that I laughed - that about sums it up. Doesn't really matter what is is (well - you will find differences - and hopefully pick what you putt best with if you're smart, ignoring the name on the putter), you gotta just believe in it.
  11. I agree with Marinemike... A putter is very personal, and there are so many, and so many similar, it all boils down to trying them out and getting one that A) works for you -most important, and B) what you really like... I think there is a lot of psychological voodoo going on when it comes to us hackers and putting, that if we actually believe a putter is better, well, then we will put better with it...
  12. Yeah - They are really a decent ball. If you're not into playing a "name" I think these deserve a serious round or two. I like 'em.
  13. Sadly I think Eugene will never succeed in golf as long as he is so negative. Should he drop all the self abuse, he probably would be a heck of a lot better, but I am pretty sure he talks himself into more defeats than wins. Perhaps the whole tv thing just screwed with his confidence and comfort. He seemed like a nice enough guy. Still - I feel the players that are holing on are the ones with the best game, so that, at least, is good. My votes go to Derek, Gerina, and Aaron in that order. I think Derek will step up.
  14. LOL - I just picked up 6 dz from lost golf balls, and have another 4dz at home .... I'm done! But - I do like the Srixon balls. I honestly think a lot of people have blinders on, and feel there is no other ball but a Titleist!
  15. Sad to say, but this might have a ring of truth to it. But... All competitive athletes that are successful have a deep seated belief in their abilities, and to be the best you must believe you are the best. Nicklaus said once said something about his putting to the effect that he never missed a putt or they never went anywhere but where he was intending them to go, or something like that.... I do wish I could remember what it was he had said, as my paraphrasing does not do it justice. But it was an interesting remark that illustrated his belief in his abilities. With Brian gone, the show will be much more dull! We'll miss you Brian!
  16. Well, it kinda depends... If I know the person and we have a history of playing together, know each others tendencies, etc. - I generally wouldn't mind - if it were occasional. I actually play with a friend of mine, and when we go out, its more of a practice round where we are providing feedback for each other whenever possible... both of us benefit.
  17. I love my Black Barbados... But I think putters are like a bad accident waiting to happen. If you hole a few tough putts early on, you get that "new girlfriend" feeling, and everything is sweet. Then you go on a cold stretch, and its back to the garage for something else! I've the Barbados, a Mizuno BC-3 and C-04. Each has its merits... why oh why are we so fickle! But again, I agree that the Rife line is under-appreciated. Their roll-grove technology puts a good feel on the ball - at least for me...
  18. I do get a similar type of pain as you do - drives me nuts. But I also have lower back pain so its two aleve before a round anyway. Rest generally works, but it just happens to be a type of injury that is hard to isolate to "rest" it. Your test results rule out any serious conditions, so you could either play with the pain, or - yikes- quit till you're better...
  19. I got em in flighted PX 5.0 and love them. When you hit them flush, they are indeed worthy clubs! A bad mishit will let you know you screwed up though. I like the setup and little offset... Yeah, perhaps there are - no there definitely are - easier clubs out there to hit, but being comfortable at address looking down at the ball/club, I think adds to your confidence, and for me these clubs do inspire.
  20. I guess what works for you is best. But I have tried to restrict my hips and try to feel the pull between hips and turn. It seems to make the swing a bit easier, and stops me from overswinging. Everybody is different of course...
  21. I suggest if you don't believe that carrying a bag "properly" is not hazardous to your health, find a good sports orthopedic doctor, and take his advice, not anyone on this, or any site. Get it straight from a professional whose credentials can be verified. Frankly, the two strap bags, properly carried, are very comfortable. I would be astonished to have an expert weigh in with a negative on carrying.
  22. A properly carried bag will not do you any damage. Period. The key is to wear it properly. ...and will be actually easier than pushing a cart up hill... try it - you'll see...
  23. I have the Barbados and it strikes a nice balance between firm and soft as regard to feel. The face balanced putters may or may not work for you, but if you prefer mallets, give the Barbados a serious test - not just a putt or two. My opinion fwiw, is that these are way underrated. And the black one simpley looks great as well - gotta love your putter!
  24. Awww.... for the slight increase in price, you should have gotten the Tour version... The Fubuki shaft in the tour is a real step up - no BS. But still, the Ft-iQ is a well designed club. I think you'll enjoy it!
  25. Sancho Panza - great inexpensive cigar, CAO Cameroon Toro - excellent, Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliber #3... amongst others....
