Just wondering if Taylormade is still #1 in terms of most woods used in PGA tour. According to Titleist website ( http://www.titleist.com/leaderboard/...ent_counts.asp ) they clearly state what their position is on tour. I was hoping to find similar information for Taylormade and Callaway as well. Thanks.

New Ping Karsten Series Putter
hypergolf replied to KingCobra's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Good putter if you are looking at the price tag it comes with. But not including the price factor, it was just ok for me. Still preferred the G5 putter series or the Redwood better. -
Vokey Spin Milled Swing Weight Issue
hypergolf replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I checked it because it felt lighter than my friend's CG12, which is supposed to be D6. Mine felt considerably lighter which led me to check the swing weight before regripping and with the intension to put right amount of lead tape. It really matters because I am paying the price to get an equipment and I expect it to get no more or no less. Second, I have to spend extra cash to get the weight done ($5 per 2g lead tape). Yes it's not much but still, why pay extra when you can get it right on the first purchase? Performance wise was ok till now so not a big deal but better feedback and the club really works itself with a heavier swing weight for me. If one day, you ever find out that your swing weight of a club you purchased is off and is not a big deal for you, go ahead and play with it but I am just raising this to the forum members to find out if they are having the same (fraud - Don't know if this is the right word but you know what I mean) issues as well because it is quite a big deal for me. Especially coming from Vokey. -
I went to a golfsmith to get some regripping done for my wedges today. Before regripping I checked the swing weight on my 58* Vokey SM wedge and it turned out to be only D2.5. Titleist website states that it should be D5. Has anyone checked their swing weight on their Vokey SM before? Also would appreciate Cleveland CG12 owners to check their swing weight vs what was stated on their website. Thanks.

200 series gives plenty of spin...

Just digressing a bit but I tried the Titleist Forged iron today and the clickiness felt very similar to a cast iron... But somehow the Mizuno forging felt "softer"... Maybe it's in the head but just wanted to write what I noticed. Do different kind of forging make iron head feel different even coming from same material? Edit: Tried Miura forged iron as well and it was again different feel compared to Mizuno and Titleist irons...

I heard from one of the players saying that going with either 5 wood, 2 hybrid or even a 2 iron is personal choice and does not have much to do with performance. Do you use a 5 wood or 2 hybrid (2 iron) and why did you go with your choice? I see most pros going with 5 wood but rarely do I see a 2 hybrid... (At least the Asian tour pros) Isn't it more difficult to use a wood in the rough compared to hybrid as well? Thanks.

Maybe he might come out with "Limited Edition of Forged Spin Milled" and jack up the price by 500%... haha... I am sure there will still be buyers... The buzz in Asia these days are "Fourteen" wedges which do go for $200+ per piece... I think Scratch wedges aren't too bad either... They are really soft...

Taylormade Burner TP Fairway vs Titleist 906F4
hypergolf replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yup, I have read your review. Great review. But I would like to get some more opinion about these fairwaywoods since I won't be able to try them all. Thanks. -
I chose Burner but it would be better if you reshaft. FT5 is great too... Head wise both pretty equal with a slight edge to Burner but more shaft choices with FT5 I think. Can't go wrong with both.

I am going to replace my 906F2 with either of these two fairwaywoods. Please let me know your thoughts. Advantages, disadvantages, etc etc. Thanks. (Please do not write things like you gotta try for yourself blah blah because that is not exactly what I am trying to find out. Thanks) Edit: I would like to add G10 fairway to the list as well. Tks.

Would like an opinion please
hypergolf replied to tarueater's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Would like to know how old and how tall you are to give a better advise. But for the hybrid talk, I would have to disagree with your dad like all the other guys. Samurais got extinct due to one reason... Gotta keep up with time IMPO. -
I use 3 wood and replaced my 5 wood with a hybrid. I don't use 3 wood in the rough though.

VS Proto 80 Fairway & Proforce V2 75 Fairway
hypergolf replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I won't be able to try the Proforce V2 75 since it will be a special order. Will be giving my 906F2 to my brother... hehe... -
I am thinking of replacing my current 906F2 15* with 906F4 13.5*. Aldila VS Proto 80 Fairway is 83g and V2 75 Fairway is 81g so the weight is pretty equal. I just wanted to hear how these shafts play on the 906F4 head. Any input will be appreciated. My SS for fairway is 103-108 and will be getting a stiff flex. Thanks.

I checked out a few different sites regarding Ping G10 series driver, fairway and hybrid and they all stated that the face is square. However, I have been to a few different Ping demo days and found all of them to be close faced... Could someone who owns the G10 series wood verify if G10 is squre faced? Thanks in advance.

I currently match my driver and 3 wood with 76g-78g range shaft and hybrid with 85g shaft. I know some people have ascending weight structure: driver being the lightest shaft, then slightly heavier for fairway, then hybrid almost matching the iron shaft weight. I know some people have all same weight shafts for driver, fairway and hybrid. How many gram shaft do you use for your driver, fairway and hybrid? What is the norm in the PGA? Thanks.
-
I read it many times regarding why Tiger is not changing to a hybrid. It is because of his spin rate. Tiger prefers to use the 2 iron for his "stinger" move as well. When he tested out a hybrid his ball tends to fly too high. So to answer the original question, I really think you should use what is comfortable for you and depending on your abilities. Some use 2 iron, some use a hybrid and some use 5 wood.

I am not saying SC putters are bad. They are good. But I am saying that he is eating his own words. Let me give the exact details since some of you don't really don't understand my situation as to why I am calling him a hypocrite. I bought my SC Studio Style when it was released. 33" with 350g. Then I wanted to send in my putter to SC workshop and asked if they could reshaft my 350g head with 34" shaft. They replied saying "NO" and asked me to refer to the website that said 350g is only ideal for 33". Then now he came up with SC Studio Design. Factory setting for 33" = 360g, 34" = 350g, 35" = 340g. If this is the case why did they reject to reshaft my 350g on a 34" shaft? Plus now you can buy extra weights to make a 34" into whatever weight we want to so isn't this going against his words in my particular case? That is all I am trying to point out.
-
Yes, I realized he was a con man after I bought his product. After purchasing I wanted to send in my putter to his workshop to see if he can reshaft to a 34" shaft and that above statement was the reply I got from his work shop. You buy a Toyota thinking that it's a good car and find out they do not provide the service that other car makers do provide. So do you throw the car away? I have the car already in possession so I will have to use it for now no? Of course the next car won't be a Toyota. That's all but I will use what I possess since I already have it in my garage and make my own modifications. I think your statement is stupid. Please write more intelligent and constructive debate.

Thoughts on the Titleist 905R driver?
hypergolf replied to clubmaker15's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Although I am currently using 907D2, I personally feel that 905R is a much better head. One of my memorable mistake is selling off the 905R. Very solid driver and you won't regret with the curret price they are selling. Just get the right shaft though... Enjoy. -
Scotty Cameron, the con-man, referred me to his writing on his website when i wanted a 350g Studio Style head on a 34" putter shaft. "Through our Studio findings we have determined the optimal relationship between shaft length, head weight and shaft flex. So, if you shorten your putter you will lose head weight and shaft flex. Conversely, if you lengthen your putter you will increase head swing weight and shaft flex. This will affect performance in many different areas, aim, path, ball performance and even sound and feel of the putter. Length of the putter dictates what head weight should be used. We know that length determines lie, lie determines path, which determines eye position, which determines aim. Length and weight also effects shaft flex, sound, tempo and timing. If a putter is too heavy it affects transition, tempo and timing. If a putter is too light, it also affects transition, tempo and timing. Simply put, we build putters that perform." Now he comes up with Studio Select?? What a hypocrite! I always knew he was so overrated and used his name to sell putters but this one is disappointing. By the way, I put a shaft extension onto my 350g Studio Style (less than $5) and it is working better than ever.

Just to bring this topic back. Scotty came out with interchangeable weights on his new Studio Select so all the things he said before were bullpoop... Scotty is now an official con-man... Haha...

SC Studio Select vs SC Studio Style. Which do you prefer and why?
