  1. I know her driving average is around 228-229. But that's all I've ever been able to find.
  2. I use a jumbo grip from Golfworks/Maltby. It's also pretty heavy, 115g. But I back weight my putter, 80g total, so I had to use a 55g weight with this grip. Smooths my stroke out like no other method I've tried!
  3. http://4headwear.com/ I have both the "BaldGuy hat for golfers" and the "SweatBandit hat". These are the single most comfortable, lightest, easiest to wash, non-sweat staining, most breathable hats I have ever owned.
  4. PURE Grips! I play the Pros. Doesn't mater if it's way hot or way cold, raining or dry, these grips are awesome. I'm on my second year and have seen no wear at all. FWIW, I play once a week and practice 2-3 times a week between the range and my home practice area.
  5. I made a couple sets of these for our gym at home. My wife uses them quite a bit with her clients. I have a set out in my garage gym too. Love em!
  6. I just need to look at my figure/physique competitor wife who is 5 years younger than me. All the motivation I need!
  7. ^^^ Wow, that's a really smoking deal!!
  8. The big pad in the palm of my right hand, the one under the thumb (I think that is the lifeline), sits on top of my left thumb.
  9. I don't play them, but a lot of people seem to have good things to say about Adam's Tom Watson 3-wedge set. And right at $100 is a good price, and they are a pretty decent looking club. http://www.golfsmith.com/product/30077040/adams-tom-watson-3-piece-cc-wedge-set?scode=SPNG99VK&ci;_src=17588969&ci;_sku=30077040%20R%20N/A%20W&tcode;=GOOGLE&cm;_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-All%20Product%20Listings-_-{keyword}&scode;=SPNG99VK&ci;_src=17588969&ci;_sku=30077040%20R%20N/A%20W
  10. I've tried to fall in love with a couple other drivers from Wishon and Maltby, but I keep coming back to my first, an 11° Diable Edge with the stock R flex Habanero shaft that is cut to 44" and swing weighted to D4. I have a long, slow lazy swing and consistently get 230 out of this club with a ball flight that is straight to a slight fade. I'm one of the few that prefers accuracy over distance with my driver, so unless I run over this club and flatten it, it's here to stay!
  11. I've never been able to get along with any fairway club off the deck, and haven't even had good luck with one off the tee either. So I have replaced my 16.5° 4 wood with a 2H (16°), and hit it much straighter and almost every bit as long as the 4W. Even though it's an inch shorter than my 4W, I just make much better contact and can easily square the hybrid face. I'm also carrying a 4H (21°) and a 5H (24°) to replace my 3 and 4 irons (same lofts respectively, 1" longer overall). I have been practicing with the 4 iron and have been getting much better with it, so at some point I might put the 4 iron back in the bag to take the place of the 5H. When I first started playing, I use to get all wrapped up in what clubs I had, didn't want to look like a noob I guess. Thought I should only have one or two fairway woods max, then straight to irons. But I'm now to the point that I just don't give a rip what anyone thinks of my setup, I'm going to play with whatever works best for me. I'm just out to have fun and to try and shoot my best score each time I go out!
  12. I'm stuck on this myself. I currently have 51°, 55° (bent from 56) and a 60°. I never, ever use the 55° unless I'm in the bunker. And fortunately, I'm rarely even in a bunker. I've played 2 green side bunker shots all year. I'm sure that will change now that I said it! Been thinking of either 1] pulling the 60°, and bending the 55° back to 56°; or 2] pull the 55° and bend the 51° to 52°. Then I would put an 18° hybrid in the extra slot.
  13. I've been going back and forth lately, but currently I don't carry a fairway club. I have 16*, 21*, and a 24* hybrids in the bag. Been going back and forth between the 16* 2 hybrid and a 16.5* 4 wood. This particular fairway is the one I've hit the best, but the 2 hybrid is sooooooo very easy to hit. I'm going to bend a 56* wedge to 54*, drop the gap wedge, and put an 18* hybrid in to try too, along with trying out a 4 iron in place of the 24* hybrid.
  14. My longest, straightest drives happen with my short (43.5"), heavy (322g) driver.
  15. I have a White Ice 2 ball putter with the 350g in it. I prefer to back weight my putters, so it has a 115g grip (55g heavier than the OEM Odyssey grip) with an additional 35g weight in the butt end of the shaft.
  16. I'm playing with my bag at the moment, so it's not what my sig says. It currently go's driver (11°), 4 wood (16°), 4 hybrid (21°), then 4 iron (24°). I'll probably try driver, 3W, 5W, then 4 iron (or 5 hybrid, they are the same loft) too.
  17. 60g = 1.93 ounces. 60g sure sounds like a lot until it's converted to ounces! Built right, the swing weight shouldn't change. At least, it should be built to a target SW. My steel and graphite shafted 919THI's are identical in SW and length, but overall club weight is obviously much higher in the steel shafted club. .
  18. Funny to be reading this right now, because I just put one together on Monday night. I had been wanting to experiment with a steel shafted driver too just for fun, and I had an extra 11° Wishon 919THI head laying around. So I got a TT Lite XL wood shaft (.335" tip) and put in the Wishon head. I just hit it for the first time last night at the house, and it feels really nice! It definitely is heavier than my graphite shafted 919 (378g vs 312g, a whopping 2.1 ounces!), but it was dead straight and from what I could tell from banging some out into the pasture, almost just as long. I'll be heading to the range this weekend with it to see just what it will do. I'm playing in a tournament tomorrow and was tempted to bag it, but I'll wait until I can see what all I can do with it. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a fun $10 experiment. In your case, I would check Craigslist and eBay for a suitable head, buy a shaft and try it out. Should probably be able to put one together (if you can't find a complete club) for under $50. The DG steel shaft for woods is available in both .335" and .350" tips, so that shaft will fit any head he wants to experiment with.
  19. Agreed! Practice makes permanent . Poor practice will more likely ingrain poor skill.
  20. I hover the driver too. Not too long though. I do it once to be sure I've got the ball at the center of the face. Eases my mind since the toe of the club is at the ball when the head is on the ground, so I hover it to see that the ball is in the center of the face. I do that, then set it down, then raise it slightly again, then GO. Some use a forward press as a "trigger". My trigger is to pick the head up, then go.
  21. Where is the confusion? Almost ALL heads and shafts are made in China, then assembled elsewhere. Some higher end components are made in Japan. And a (very) few are made in the US. VERY few.
  22. As seen in the graph above, "lower" will: lower the loft (flatter face, closer to vertical, lower launch angle.), and the "open" face (otherwise known as "slice face") will start the ball flight to the right. "Higher" will: raise the loft (higher launch angle), and close the face (otherwise known as "hook face") which helps slicers because it should help the face come back to square with the path at impact . A couple of tidbits from Tom Wishon regarding face angle: Driver Face Angle Few drivers sold off the shelf offer options in the face angle to reduce the golfer’s tendency to slice or hook the ball. There is no better way to reduce a slice than to fit the golfer with a more closed face angle in the driver/fairway woods. For more severe slices, the golfer can be fit with a driver head with both a closed face and an offset hosel design. The rule of thumb for face angle change? At a carry distance of 200 yards, each one degree more closed the face angle is than the golfer’s current face angle represents a reduction in the slice of about 4 to 5 yards.
  23. ^^^^This. The image below is for the Rescue 11 FCT, but I "think" it's the same for the RBZ. At the very least, you will be able to see the affects raising and lowering the loft will have on the face angle. Also note that changing the FCT will also change the lie angle. And just to be sure, lowering the loft would be like subtracting loft; lowering by 1° would be going from 10 ° to 9 ° (-1 °) . Raising the loft is going from 9 ° to 10 ° (+1 °) .
  24. I always take it with me, and try to get the attention of the group in front of me to see if it's theirs. If not, I'll leave it at the clubhouse. I'm sure at some point, maybe when they are cleaning their stuff at home, they will realize they are missing one and call the clubhouse to see if anyone returned it.
  25. Usually between 20g to 50g heavier. Mostly depends on the final playing length.
