  1. I'm traveling to SC and have always seen the "shoe warehouses" but never stopped. Has anyone bought shoes from places like this before? Are they a good deal over normal markup, good quality?
  2. Definitely depends, I usually drink at minimum 3 beers per round unless it is to cold in the fall or very early in the morning. Post 11:00 AM is booze time. However when drinking between 8-12 I definitely see adverse effects. I think if you keep it in moderation though there it doesn't detract very much. When playing in tournaments there are two attitudes, when with a competitive team i usually have one or 2..when on a party team i get as drunk as much as possible and arrange a ride beforehand.
  3. I'm not positive but I don't think I was doing any damage. There was no frost on the green and I was wearing a pair of Sperry loafers. But I could be wrong.
  4. Very true, the grass doesn't grow in my yard throughout the winter I'm not quite sure why I assumed the green would keep growing.
  5. HAHA. They're definitely both par 4s
  6. That's because the cyclical "often considered a rumor" nature of markets brings prosperous results to those with patience. Knowledge and confidence also breed a great investor, knowing that the markets get rocked when fear is elevated made millionaires out of people willing to put money into the market in the beginning of this year and March/April of 2009. A large amount of stocks were brought down with the fear of systemic risk throughout the whole market. Some companies had great books and promising futures but were negatively impacted based on poor management decisions by rival companies. It is hard to know which company to invest in, but becomes more lear once you start doing research and figure out WHY a company lost 15% or WHY the company is growing at 5% a year for 10 years. Understanding what caused the event is much more beneficial than trying to react the news. Anyways thats my two cents on the topic. I recently graduated in May looking to pursue a career in finance ad enjoy helping to bring insight to others who may have questions about investing. A personal projection is that the december month will be good for the major indexes. Strong consumer numbers coupled with small job growth has a majority of investors concurring the current bull market will continue. Unfortunately the real estate market most likely has a few hard years in front of them, my thinking is roughly 3 years but everything can change overnight in these turbulent times.
  7. With a rather interesting discussion on equipment going on in another thread it got me thinking about different parts of the repertoire of a golfer. Anyone else get discouraged when they're paired up and realize their new partner is wearing 5 year old tennis sneakers on the tee? Also do people who show up with a Titleist hat, FJ windbreaker and J Lindberg pants and belt command more respect around the course. Since it is so easy to look the part of a great golfer is it no longer worth paying attention to? Go Boilers Tonight!
  8. I will probably go with the SPIDR based on recommendations here and around the net. I am very interested though in hearing from someone who has used the puretouch glove. I like to splurge on nice equipment and thing that one of these gloves every few rounds would be a real treat. That is if they are actually worth the $30 you have to shell out for one.
  9. It could most definitely be me, however two days earlier I was using the putter indoors and though I know astroturf has a much different texture than real grass I was doing fine. I figured my speed could be wrong but a straight put on turf should be straight on a level green. Anyways I was more wondering if extremely cold greens have caused anyone else's putting to decline, not necessarily just mine. I used to work at the course in high school and knew they were not opening today, I just drove into the parking lot and walked up to the green near the clubhouse. There were some maintenance boys around but they did not bother me. I'm sure I will only be able to do this for a few days as the green length will eventually become to long with no attention.
  10. So I went to practice my putting today because I got a new one last night and was excited to try it out. Well my course officially closed yesterday (first snowfall of the year this morning) and I went anyways figured the practice green was just cut but there would be no pins in. So I started putting and was not doing well to say the least, the first 5 or 10 minutes I did alright but eventually I could not get the distance right. I was coming up short and pulling a ton of puts. I am hoping that was because of the cold, 30 degrees when I checked my phone. Can this possibly be because of the cold weather or did I get the wrong putter?
  11. Does anyone currently play with the SPIDR2, I am looking to switch from the standard weathersof glove. Any thoughts on the durability, feel and grip when wet? Also does anyone have any other recommendations for a glove, is the PureTouch really worth the $28, or the StaSof at $19.99?
  12. TaylorMade R9 Driver - $399.99 TaylorMade R9 3 Wood - $239.99 Callaway X-20 Irons 3-PW - $699.99 Titleist Vokey Wedges - (2) @ $119.99 Each Cleveland CG-14 - $109.99 Scotty Cameron Newport 2 - $299.99 Callaway X Stand Bag - $149.99 Total: $2,139.92 *All prices are at date of purchase. Not to mention dozens of Pro V's and tees, 3pairs of golf shoes, gloves and the ridiculous green fees every week. This sport really adds up, no wonder why people think of it as an elite sport.
  13. I practiced with the new D2 at GolfGalaxy today and was not very pleased, then again I never am with Titleist drivers. I have just never been able to hit them far and I was hoping that would change with this model. With an average swing speed of 100 -105 sometimes peaking around 113, I felt the distance of maybe 260 w/ roll was short compared to the Ping and R9. I was using the Mizuno MP-63 6 iron however to warm up and break from swinging the driver. What a great set of irons, I was hitting it 180-200 when I could connect solidly and when I didnt it would go maybe 120-130 and to the outside of the flags. While definitely a player's club these are great if you can consistently hit the sweet spot of the club.
  14. Has anyone ordered a Scotty Cameron recently from a small vendor like a pro's shop and remember approximately how long it took for the club to Arrive?
  15. Unfortunately I am still looking for a job in the finance field. I graduated in May 2010 with a major in Financial Counseling & Planning and minors in Economics and Communications. If anyone in the greater New York area is looking for a bright and motivated young mind for their office please let me know.
  16. 23 been playing for about 13 years. Fortunately I was able to play pretty much every day this summer which really helped lower my handicap.
  17. Not sure where this whole deal is currently standing but I just want to say I would love some of these products. If you were wondering if there was enough interest to warrant the work I believe the last 5 pages shows there is. Hopefully this comes to fruition as I know a few members on here who would love these as a stocking stuffer for the upcoming holiday. Thanks for all of your work and I realize I am in no position to demand anything due to the fact that I've, well contributed nothing so far to the site except a few posts. BOILER UP!! BEAT IU
  18. Definately agree, in terms of championships, postseason implications and pure hatred of the team and fans I have to agree that the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry is the best in sports. HaHa my man..gotta love those Boilermakers. Good win tonight over SIU, fortunately we were able to overcome an awful start and move to 5-0. Next up is the Bucket Game, man do I wish I was gonna be back in West LaLa tomorrow to tailgate.
  19. Wow thanks, I'll definitely check that out.
  20. I always use christmas to stock up on accessories. Am getting 2x500 pack of natural wood tees from walmart, 2 SPID-R gloves for play and a pack of 2 FJ gloves for practicing. Two new sets of spikes, possibly the Black Widow custom but not sure if they're worth it. 4 dozen Pro-V1 from Golf Galaxy when they go on sale for $45.99 and a new FJ windbreaker. Hmm I guess thats it.. OH yeah a new Scotty Cameron Newport 2 which I ordered yesterday from my local pro..I can't wait to start using that as soon as I get it, I think we all know it's impossible to resist using new clubs.
  21. How did the spikes work out for you? I was interested in getting a few pairs for christmas but have read some reviews claiming a short life-span. I figure the pros can use them because they'll just get a new set every round but I dont want to have to replace my spikes every two weeks. I already have to change them every 2-3 months as it is.
